Our Gift

Mankind has a gift.

Whether you believe humans were created by a higher power, evolved from the primordial ooze, or were genetically engineered by ancient aliens, the fact remains that, on this Earth, no creature has the gift that man has.

That is the gift of reason; the ability to use a rational thought process to make decisions.

Decisions. Choices.

Man is capable of making poor choices. Man is also capable of abandoning reason, and embracing - nay, celebrating! - irrational thought. This can only lead to evil.

We need to embrace our gift.

EPILOGUE:

Michael Nystrom has given us a gift here.

We're showing him how much we appreciate it.

Let's keep doing that. Not just with our money (but yes, with our money!!$$).

Let's show it with our keyboards and our voices; tell everyone you know about this place! Why not? What are we here for - to talk among ourselves...or to change the world?

Spread around Daily Paul articles you like. Share them on social media; email them to your friends.

Write more here! We want to hear from you!

Keep brainstorming ways we can help Michael not only keep the ark afloat, but make it the beacon of liberty that can shine the way for others on the high seas!

I've made some choices, and I hope they are rational and good.

I choose liberty, and I choose the Daily Paul!

What do you choose?

I choose to grow, most notably to remove myself as obstacle

This post prompts me to pick back up the string I started with you in July, Marc. My comment to Michael steers me back into it.

Yes Marc

God exists for one reason and one reason only. Because I am grateful.

Thank you Marc

Very well said. Life is a gift. Our consciousness is a gift. Liberty is a gift. We stand on the accomplishments of so many others that have come before us.

I have to go at the moment, but I wanted to share this, because this is what your post reminded me of. But I'll have more to say later.

So much to say, so much to share!

Thank you Marc for your stand in the cause of Liberty.

He's the man.

I like where you took this.

This video is quite apropos. Life, consciousness, liberty, these are perhaps gifts already given to us. What about happiness? Perhaps it is a gift too but not yet given. It is the grail of sorts, and we all want it. David Steindl-Rast reminds us that the pursuit of happiness is a gift, our opportunity. It is fruitless to reach for the grail directly, but there is a process. Happiness itself is gifted in the wake of attitude and action. It is result, effect. As we use properly your listed gifts (life, consciousness, liberty) they increase. One way to look at happiness is as a measure of these gifts. when we are happy we know that we have been living well and that our gifts are increasing in scope. When we are unhappy we must realize that our gifts have diminished in scope and that we therefore need to remedy our attitudes and possibly tweak our courses of action. Our emotional states, and sometimes conscious inventory thereof, are our greatest tools of navigation.

Well Done

I don't use much social media. Ok, I don't use any social media, so I can't help in that regard, but I do link articles from here in emails to friends and family often including some Lions of Liberty posts.
