The Sparrow and the Forest Fire

A giant fire engulfed the forest and all the animals came rushing out, looking for safety.

Only the sparrow flew back and forth to the lake, scooping up a tiny amount of water into her tiny beak and dumping it onto the fire.

The other animals looked on, dumbfounded. They chided her. "What are you doing, sparrow? Can't you see that it's hopeless?"

"But it is my home," she said.

She continued her work until the fire consumed the forest.

and the sparrow discovered that destruction is temporary - that time heals wounds.

While fire may have laid its wrath on the old growth, the seeds were still fertile.

There was a flock of sparrows.

But the hyenas just sat on the sidelines and laughed.

And when a sparrow fell, they hyenas ate it! And laughed.

The sparrows convinced the other animals - the elephants and the hippos and the rhinoceri to help. And the zebras, too.

Together they united and beat back the forest fire, and saved their home. And they were so grateful, not only to God, but to one another for the assistance they both gave and received.

And they all lived happily

And they all lived happily ever after. :)

Okay... time to catch some zzz's! I'm glad it had a happy ending. Or is it just the beginning?!!

Shoes are better than hats.

Shoes take you places; hats just sit on you head.

When wearing shoes

a hat is useful in making the head
share in the feet's humility
for a better sense of balance
