Can I leave the Daily Paul in your hands?

If I had to go away and do some other things. Can I trust you to be a grownup now? Can I trust the passengers of the ark not to attack one another?

I think of the Daily Paul as the watering hole in an arid desert. All the animals come around to drink - the lions and other animals of prey, as well as the zebras, and deer or whatever. They don't attack each other - not at the watering hole. It is one thing that they all have in common. They all have thirst.

At the Daily Paul, we all have thirst. The thirst is good natured, and well intentioned. Those are the kinds of people that I like to see, and that is why it hurts so much when that is taken advantage of. But that seems to be the way of our hypercompetitive world. Aim for the weak spot, and then plunge.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

If anyone is going to change it, it has to be me. I am the captain of this ark, and the ark is as real as can be.

This is a real feeling, expressed as best as possible in a Hollywood movie. It is a real feeling. I've felt it. But in this day and age of snark, how does one express it without getting snickered at?

We're all thirsty. We're thirsty for something that we barely even know exists. It has been so far submerged by popular culture that it is nearly dead, so fully twisted and distorted by consumerism that we barely know its true meaning, if at all.

It is love. That is why I put a flashing banner at the top of the website, repeating it. There is joy in repetition.

A heart of peace. A heart of gold. A heart of love. Strive for that.

Even if you simply strive for it, I know that I can leave the site in your hands, while I go do what I need to do.

Can you remember the Message? Can you be it before you preach it?

Can I leave the Daily Paul in your hands?

Appoint some moderators, then yes.

It doesn't have to be "total control vs no control". What about just delegating moderator responsibilities to a few trusted individuals?

The problem i see ahead is

The problem i see ahead is its the 2 year annv. Of the 2012 RNC and that means 2 years till a new nominee is picked and less then a year till the primary is in full swing . i would predict rand announces by new years 2015 .

Some of us are already in campaign mode , what will make this Paul presidential run different is the DP wont be a sanctuary to rest and regroup after fighting trolls and spreading the message and pushing our guy , instead after a long day of that we will come back here to find the comments we need a break from - " its all rigged " " he cant win " " hes not ron paul " " its pointless to even vote " maybe even a few " i like everything about him except his foreign policy " or " rand paul is batshit crazy "

The first two years fine , debate kick scratch whatever i could care less, it took me a little bit but rand earned me back , i get it and ill be pushing as hard for him as i did Ron , i already do . i dont expect everyone to understand that but it would be nice to not have legs tryng to trip us constantly in this effort i mean geez a campaign is hard enough as it is .

as it is now i dont see the ark making it through , i think hitting a port and picking up new members was great , or picking up us guys who have always been around but only lurked .

so i guess what im wanting to say is i think the only way the DP makes it and doesnt implode is if it installs a plank and at a certain point , if youre not here to get Rand Paul elected then those people should walk it .

Whose Ark is it, anyway?

Michael's Ark has always been a sanctuary and gathering place for those who love liberty and peace. It remains to be seen whether Rand Paul is on board with that, or not.

Electing slightly-less-evil politicians is a guaranteed losing strategy for freedom.

Slightly less evil or

Slightly less evil or slightly less perfect ?

I think 95% constitutional voting is pretty good , who are you pushing in the primary ? Thomas massie ?? He's the only one at 100% constitutional voting .

I think letting someone win who has a 40% voting record rather then in the 90s would be what i consider the losing strategy .

Rand is awesome , he won me over , you must have donated alot to the moneybombs and decided to hold a grudge forever because if you havent seen the good stuff rand is doing by now you never will .

But this is what im talking about , i dislike the thought of having to waste my time in a conversation like this everyday when im trying to help campaign 2015-2016 , i want a DP sanctuary for people who are campaigning , since i know DP probably wont be that this election ill most likely just walk the plank myself

So I'm fussy.

I contributed and spent upwards of $10,000 and a hell of a lot of time and effort to Ron Paul's two Presidential campaigns. I also contributed to Rand's campaign, when he was running for Senate. He's done some good things, and I'd LIKE to believe that his recent suck-up to Israel and the warmongers is just electioneering, public relations bullsh't. But there's a problem there: if he makes a pitch convincing enough to win over the Israel-firsters, it's ALSO going to be convincing enough to alienate the hard-core anti-war folks like me. Personally, I'm not going to support ANYONE who favors the continuation of our belligerent foreign policy, whether they do so in a "constitutional" manner or not. I don't vote for wannabe mass murderers, especially those who "stand with Israel." Israel is the ONE country with whom we probably should be at war, or should at least suffer draconian sanctions pending payment of reparations for their role in the 9/11 attack. Come election day, I'll likely vote for a Libertarian, to keep the blood off my hands. But that's just me. Others may not be so fussy.

I dont care where you throw

I dont care where you throw your vote , im worried about where youll be throwing your monkey wrench because i have a feeling you and many like you plan on throwing it in the engine thats decided they will push Paul .

Its kinda that whole freedom to do what you want so long as youre not getting in the way of others freedom thing ya know

As for the rest of your post thank you for donating so much $ i didnt get near that number , i did dedicate my everyday though just like many have , it wasnt a loss , america has become anti war , they filming police and starting to learn their rights . i think the time and money was well spent .

So what about syria , didnt rand have a had in stopping that ? Hasnt he asked for congressional approval on even air strikes in iraq ? I know he has said a few suspect things but we all know this quote " i like ron paul but not on foreign policy , i could never vote for him " its gonna be the same in 2016 and i dont beg rand to commit suicide , america is so fucking pro israel its not even funny ! It pisses me off but its silly to think he could do anything about it unless he was in office , for some its a leap of faith for other its obvious for me i saw him vote iron dome which is defense not offense , his stand with israel bill was opposed by aipac , democrats and republicans , i just dont see the whole rand loves israel bit , some people sound like jealous bfs , i assure you rand isnt sleeping with israel behind your back despite the occassional flirting we see , he is leading her on .

Have a good trip Michael

But let us know when you are coming back OK?

Geez

It can't be any worse than the whole US trusting Congress, can it?

I hope you enjoy your break, I enjoy mine.

No. Lol

I 'respectfully' turned that offer down long ago when MN was in a totally burned on it out phase.

Reason being: I was in the exact same phase. Lol

Besides, I prefer to stay out of the limelight. I am also getting too old for this crap. Or maybe it's the crap that is getting old. Either way, something's getting old.

Is it a coincidence that the more monitors you get and the more "you" have to "save" us from ourselves or "right the ship", the worse this website gets? This place seems like a prime example of free markets turning into controlled markets. When i came here 7 years ago this place was a beacon of opinions, truth, and all things liberty. But it seems to get more and more controlled by our "saviors" because you guys "know better than us" and it seems to have just gone downhill from there. Just my opinion and i could possible not have a clue what im talking about but thats how it feels to me

Here here!

I completely agree.

Reading Michael's post I will say the "thirst" is for "truth" and sometimes the "truth" hurts. Good humor is a symptom of being good natured. If you consider this ship an ark of sorts, Noah didn't take trolls on the ark. So if "truth" quenches the "thirst", then dark remarks which point to even "deeper truths" of known "subterfuge" must be made. It's the only way the true waters of liberty can run free.

Civility at the watering hole

Civility at the watering hole depends on a couple of things. If DP is without you and mods this will be a truly incredible experiment. I have strong opinions on what would happen but will zip it for now.

With mods still in place though, they have a toolbox to deal with incivility and not much would change.

Oddly, what I'm most concerned about is whether you the commenter will still be around. When I've upvoted or replied positively to your comments it's been to amplify an opinion I'm not hearing anywhere else! Recent example:

Hope you still comment.

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

If nothing else it will certainly clear up one of the DP's

ongoing disputes:
Does anarchy work?

I guess it is up to the anarchists on here to make sure it does to prove their point.

But really, when I look back at my youth and all the fighting me and my brothers did(and coming from an Irish family with four boys - that was a lot of fighting) sometimes the best we got along was when mom and dad stopped telling us to get along. We would have one BIG fight, then all would be good - instead of a bunch of little fights going on and on.

I am sure there will be some fighting, but in the end, maybe its one big fight that needs to be had so we can get back to important things.

Anarchy doesn't work.

Anarchy doesn't work. Minarchy does.

From the heart

I joined the Daily (Ron) Paul six years ago and loved it because the DP supported the character and belief system of Ron Paul --I met Ron Paul several times over the years and I can truthfully say I love him because of his character and belief system in humanity, truth and honesty. Today, I feel the DP is moving away from those values for the most part. It is no longer the Daily (Ron) Paul, it is evolving into the Daily (Rand) Paul, even with the guidence of Michael. IMO, Rand is the polar opposite of his father Ron on most issues dear to me. Without your guidence Michael, only God knows what views or who the DP will support in the future. Regardless of the future of the DP, thank you for all you have done in the past. Best regards.

guidence of Michael

I've been doing my best to keep up with Michael Nystrom's OP and comments on this issue...believe there needs to be a Ron(not Rand) Paul type anchor here. I respect Mr. Nystrom's desire to get away, though.

I disagree it's becoming the Daily (Rand) Paul. There is still a wide range of opinions here and enough disagreement to power us for the next ten years.
