Give me LIBERTY or give me DEATH

Fellow men and women of this great nation,

I originally wrote this in response to a post about attempting to start a new country, and I commend original poster for bringing up the topic. I am posting it here to see what others think about my response. This post of course would be in the event of our not attaining our goals in the immediate future.

The body of my post:

I read the responses, but have not done any research into anyone that has already contemplated and written on the subject.

My response is that it would be easy to have as many of the ten percent (approx. but I could be off) of the population that supports the constitutional ideas of Ron Paul to gather in one state and utilize the law to overtly call for secession and blatantly put our problems out, and state our movement back to the constitution, and perhaps a few alterations to the document (using the correct procedures) to make it even more solid, and to prevent the hijacking of the nation.

This paragraph is more in jest, and a bit away from my true feelings, but: I would personally like to see a public figure call for the secession of all 50 states from the union and a new (or multiple due to some hardcore socialist types) nation stand up in its place. Let the socialists have fun with their's (and it will fail) and let us take ours. Those that have ideals in the middle (like the conservative statists or war mongers) can do what they wish (preferably move to the socialist states) because all they do is use up our precious air anyway. I would like us to keep the land of our forefathers and fight for truth and liberty, rather than run away and attempt to start a new, as some have called for.

Some have said that if this is done, we would be attacked. That may be so, but an overtly public display of this act would reach the ears of all citizens and persons in this country. Firstly, many would not want to harm or kill their kin. Secondly, many that follow the science and art of warfare and call their career one of the defense of the country, would likely fall to our side, since like me, have made an oath to uphold and protect the constitution, our most sacred document and bond to each other. We believe in the law of the land, the protection of our borthers and sisters, and have plenty of knowledge in the art of war. However, we are a very peaceful sort, for it is the soldier that does the bleeding. But do not take that to say that we will not bleed when we are called on to protect our most sacred bond, and the lives of our families and friends.

We may have to eventually come to the point where we would have to gather and fight yet again for our liberties. Either with our tongues, our pens, or our arms. I would like to see a return to the constitution in one way or another. I am with you all the way in this fight of ideas, since it is all of you that are screaming on these boards that will be the heads of the governments in when it is all said and done. If we need to, we can write up the constitution once again, and add into it the processes of the people's control to ensure this never happens again. We would have to negotiate amongst ourselves to how this would work, but that is the essence of a proper legislative branch anyway (with the input of state legislatures as well of course).

Every so many years, we must take a look into what has worked and what has not. We have made leaps and bounds towards the ultimate goal of true liberty, and although there will be bumps along the way, we must not stop trying, for evil only triumphs when good men stand idly by.

We the people stand together in unity for our liberty. And I say today, this 1st of February 2008, as had been said many times over our history (both in our nations, and in human history), to give me LIBERTY or give me DEATH!
