Benton Resigns

He maintained his innocence, faulting "inaccurate press accounts and unsubstantiated media rumors."

"This decision breaks my heart, but I know it is the right thing for Mitch, for Kentucky and for the country," Benton said.

I don't know how to feel about this

Benton was involved in some things I objected to in the Ron Paul campaign. It smelled awful and I grew to distrust him in that time. A number of patriots painted him as a family member/interloper bent on preventing a Ron Paul success. I never really got how to view him. I donated as much as I could, but it was for naught. Was Benton an agent of failure? I have no idea, but I admit to being pleased he is charged. Not sure I can substantiate it, but I do blame him as evil in the Ron Paul campaign. So conflicted over 2012.

I think we should rise above

the "Benton Schadenfreude".

But I am glad I finally know what this feeling is all about.

I remember when Jack Hunter resigned

from Rand's staff over some stupid stuff. I've always liked The Southern Avenger. He was drawn & quartered in the press. Now, I smell more indictments coming & I wonder if the press is sharpening their knives? If they were that energetic to ruin Hunter over some dumb comments, what will they do with a bribery case?

I want my $5000

dollars back. I did not authorize Jesse Benton to use this money for this purpose.

You should know, that LOTS of campaign donations were used

for good causes. The campaign really did help the delegates financially in Tampa & they put on a grand finale at the Sun Dome.

Bad business always catches up with you...

Hey at least he will have nothing to do with Rand 2016!

Start vetting some upstanding campaign managers.

CNN just reported re: Benton

and talked about Mitch McConnell but showed Ron Paul w/Benton in front of the RP 2012 backdrop. >:|

Let's not forget

Let's not forget this little nugget I found way back

hm. why the edit?

the whole video is shot without pause, but then right before he says "avoid the mob" there was an intentional cross cut.

In the world of media, this is called a "hatchet job"

not defending him of course, but, in the name of truth and transparency there shouldn't be any of that going on in the liberty movement. just show the video of how the dialogue took place.

not that you recorded it, but whoever posted it to youtube had an agenda

Edit or not

Ron Paul was obviously annoyed by Benton's attitude.

Did not forget

Benton was following GOP orders not to "cause trouble"...

You want him to be guilty?

Don't you understand the implications for the Liberty Movement if he is found guilty? One step forward and two steps back. I for one hope, for the sake of the movement, he is found innocent.

Ron Paul Is My President

what about justice?

You sound like you are just looking out for yourself. This isn't about you or the liberty movement, it is about crooks and deception and covering up a crime. Integrity, morality.

If someone was bribed which appears to be the case, then someone did the bribing. We will see what evidence comes forth.

The only one here

looking out for himself appears to be you, and your personal dislike of Benton. What happened to 'innocent until proven guilty?' Did you even read Benton's statement?

Benton said there "is no more important cause for both Kentucky, my new home I have come to love, and our country than electing Mitch McConnell Majority Leader of the United States Senate."

"I believe this deep in my bones, and I would never allow anything or anyone to get in the way," Benton wrote. "That includes myself."

Ron Paul Is My President

i never said he was guilty

I was merely commenting on your desire for a certain outcome to benefit you. I would like to see it play out and whoever was bribing to be brought to justice. If his "admission of guilt" is accurate then someone in the campaign did it. Just as, someone in the Bachman campaign did it as well. Whether that person/people includes Jesse or not, it is still the campaign and it still looks bad for the campaign.

The liberty movement is fine.

The liberty movement is fine. Benton has added NOTHING of value.

Is it? Really?

Some of my fellow students at school couldn't wait to rub my nose in Sorenson's plea, telling me with s$#@-eating grins how Ron Paul himself is heading to prison. And you think everything is fine?

Jesse is family. He's married to Ron's grand daughter.

Ron Paul Is My President

Ask them how much money they're willing to wager that...

Ron Paul will go to prison? That usually shuts people up when they are so "sure" of something. Ron Paul did not have squat to do with this just like the newsletters although he has to take some responsibility for a stupid employee's actions.

Employers do it everyday in this country.

Also, you can't be guilty by marriage, especially if you're not married to the person that committed a stupid act.

Thanks for the advice.

I will try that Monday. As for the marriage thing this is Ron Paul with Jesse Benton's daughter, Ron's great grand daughter, Caroline. The Ron Paul I've grown to know and admire would never want the father of his great grand daughter, let alone anyone, thrown in prison. That is statist talk.

Ron Paul Is My President

I respect the opinion of Tom

I respect the opinion of Tom Woods over manipulative family photos. Benton is a rotten egg.

He Hasn't

even been charged with a crime! Sounds like you respect Mr. Woods more than you do Dr. Paul. So why are you here again? Why don't you sign up for the Daily Wood instead? How much $ do you make as a shill for the prison industrial complex?

Ron Paul Is My President

Are you kidding? Anyone who

Are you kidding? Anyone who is remotely familiar with the boneheaded decisions of Benton would not make such absurd comments.

I would make a post

asking who do people here respect more: Dr. Paul or Tom Woods but I wouldn't want to embarrass you. And what are Dr. Paul's views of the prison industrial complex you seem so keen on promoting? Do you even know?

Ron Paul Is My President

Make your post, but I suggest

Make your post, but I suggest you word it: "Who do you trust more, Tom Woods or Jesse Benton?"

Ron has nothing to do with this, other than he couldn't see Benton for the weasel he is.

First you want

Benton thrown in prison. No charges have been filed against him. Only thing you got on him is he (in your own words) made some 'boneheaded decisions.' And for that, in your opinion, he should be made a ward of the state. Second you insinuate Dr. Ron Paul is a poor judge of character. I think you are on the wrong forum, son.

Ron Paul Is My President

I'm on the right forum, "Granddad"

In my opinion, you're on the wrong side of the issue.
