My humor isn't appreciated at work

I'm sure I'm not the only one here to find that their humor isn't appreciated at work.

I work in sales and recently they kind of realigned the "teams" in our department and we were supposed to come up with a new team name. The criteria for the assignment was simple.

1. The name must refer somehow to selling or making money, or achieving quotas/goals or something along those lines.

2. The rival team is called "Sales Team Six" and the name for this new team should be fitting of a team which would "do battle with" Sales Team Six.

I submitted 2 names:

The Saleban (Sale-i-ban)
Al Quota

both names were shot down by management even though the team members supported Al Quota overwhelmingly.

I'm not too butthurt that my names for the team won't stick... just thought posters here would get a giggle out of the proposed names.

hahaaa, Al-Quota vs. Sales Team Six would have been great though.

I am stealing Al-Quota as a way to refer to police. They terrorize people with their tax collecting quotas.

People try to say they don't have quotas, and they don't have them officially. When yer a patrol cop and your boss tells you officer Smith wrote 137 tickets last month, and points out you only wrote 12, it's pretty much implied that you need to generate more revenue or they will be looking to find justifications to 86 you.

If your humor isn't appreciated at work, maybe you are surrounding yourself with the wrong people. I am a garbage man, and my coworkers have great senses of humor. Offices are full of political correctness, blue collar working guys know how to have a good time. Most garbage men make more than most salesmen as well.

I like your mentality...

I grew up in a blue collar family business and that's where I'm most at home... but that business was crushed by the economy of the past several years and some health circumstances for key members of the operation.

My co-workers are fun people... like most organizations, it's management which lacks humor. :)

I respect the hell out of you for collecting garbage. I admire anyone who does actual work... I just talk to people all day... and in our modern world with backwards priorities I'm disproportionately rewarded with FRNs far in excess of the compensation which anyone who actually does physical work receives.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

Still haven't seen a cooler

(speaking of the politically incorrectly humorous)

online name than the one someone had back in the
90's who was a regular poster on some of the Usenet
groups like Alt.Conspiracy.

This was before web browsers or just when they were first coming
out, and before Usenet was trolled and spammed into Uselessnet...

Anyway, personal nomination for coolest handle ever:

"Osama bin Kenobi"

Hope he's well and not in some black hole prison cell somewhere.

Would have made a good DP'er - or maybe is one?

Sales Team Six vs Delta Sales Force

It was probably a long shot that your management would actually allow a "US Military vs Islamic Terrorist" theme. Maybe they would prefer friendly rivalry against their peers?

Delta Sales Force! ;)

My humor isn't appreciated at work either, and I work from

home!

I just got to a real live working computer for the first time in a few days to tell you, that was great! Keep a journal and keep us posted....

911wasaninsidejob, might have made it as a team name though, think about it for next time!!!!

thanks for the words of encouragement... good luck fitting in at home.

I think "911wasaninsidejob" would go over like a fart in a spacesuit.

I think that would go over GREAT, unless it was a multi-person

spacesuit. :)

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Al Quota...

Well done! Is that original?

I stand in awe of people who can come up with original jokes!

How about A-List Quota, eh?

A sales team committed to going after A-List customers could be a worthy challenge for team title.

The other team could try Sealed Deal Six, if there were six on their team, otherwise it wouldn't work.

it was original!

I used to be a very creative and witty soul before being sucked into the corporate machine. LOL (every now and then you can still see glimpses of the human who used to control this corporate-owned body)

Al Quota

This has been making me laugh all day. I want to be on your team. Ridiculous that they won't let you use it. Ha ha!

Agreed!

Al-Quota is very witty.

I met a black midget rapper the other day. He told me his name was 50 per Cent.

One day, I'm gonna' change my name to Dale Lee Paul

hey, I know that guy!

He is big in the gay community. Came out of the cupboard last year.

I love midget jokes

There was a midget security guard who worked at a mall I used to frequent 2 decades ago... He called himself the 2.5 (versus 5.0)

Next rung (but very close) on the evolutionary ladder would be Middle Management Martinets.
