Goldwater/Paul Comparison

0 votes

Has anybody done a general comparison on Barry Goldwater Sr.'s view of gov't roles and Ron Paul's? The reason I ask is that it would be a useful tool in talking with seniors about Ron Paul. "Who here is a Barry Goldwater (Mr. Conservative) Republican (show of hands). Let me show you that a candidate in this election mirrors those views, and the conservative that you are looking for is in this race".

YES!!

My family is old-school, Goldwater Conservative to the core! My father is constantly telling me about how the fervor my brothers and I have in the Paul campaign is reminiscent of his own activism for Goldwater back in the day.

If you can get hold of Goldwater's "The Conscience of a Conservative," you'll find a lot of material that's downright prophetic of Ron Paul. As a matter of fact... Who knows what effect it may have, but I posted the following comment in an article at Townhall.com (which I used to read regularly back when I was a neo-con sucker):

In the Spirit of Goldwater

I've been reading "The Conscience of a Conservative" (1960) by Barry Goldwater lately.

If it weren't for Goldwater and that book, few of us would likely be here today discussing Conservatism of any kind, because it was Goldwater who helped the people take back the Republican party from the big-government, establishment Republicans who have since found their way back in.

There is a new book that promises to be the perfect resurrection of Goldwater's masterpiece. It is currently #3 on Amazon.com's bestseller list; the only book of the top twenty that has to be pre-ordered because it hasn't even been released yet!

It is called "The Revolution: A Manifesto."

The author is the man whom Barry Goldwater, Jr. called "the only Goldwater Republican in this election."

Ron Paul

funny

Is it not eery how Goldwater was smeared in 64 as the peace candidate because of that commercial with the little girl being blown up? And today Paul gets smeared by his own party as the peace candidate basically saying we will be run over by islamo fascists if we vote for him?
