Last Weekend to Canvass Before Super Tuesday
Friends,
This is the last weekend before Super Tuesday. I know that all of us here are tuned into what is going on, but many of your neighbors are not. For example, prior to joining this movement, I'd never voted in a presidential primary. I never even knew when they were. This weekend is crucial for door-to-door canvassing. If you remind people that there is a vote on Tuesday, and of what is at stake, you can motivate a lot of people to vote this weekend. This is what it is all about -- getting people to come out and vote.
If you haven't done so, go to the campaign site and become a precinct leader. You'll get a list of addresses of known Republicans and Independents in your neighborhood. Take a few hours this weekend to visit them and drop off some Ron Paul literature with a reminder to vote.
If you need literature, it is too late to order it and get it in time. Contact your local Meetup group - they likely have some for you. Otherwise, you can download it directly from the campaign site, take the file to Kinko's or some other local copy shop, and have your own printed up. Precincts are small, but you have the opportunity to make a big impact in yours!

My Precint Complete
through the slush of the slow melting 6 inches of snow and off and on
sleet falling today... nothing was going to stop me from completing
canvassing my precinct!

I bought a large sheet magnet and wrote in large letters.

SAVE the Economy
This seems to get a lot of attention. Much better than regular bumper stickers.
I think that the phrases like "STOP the DRAFT" and "SAVE the Economy" get a lot of attention because these things can potentially affect a lot of people, greatly.
I think these phrases are much better than "Google Ron Paul."
Of course, canvasing is much more important, but I think there are also ways to improve the effectiveness of bumper stickers and sign waving.

I think the best way to get coverage is to call a news conference MONDAY with rumors that he is dropping out.
ALL the networks will descend like SHARKS thinking he is out of super tuesday. they will relish his defeat and swarm the event

I think this news will surface soon enough and questions will be asked as to why only Ron Paul is the only candidate who knew about this ages ago or was honest enough to talk about it. Amazing
I participated in Call-4-Paul today. It is amazing the number of people who had never heard of him. When I explain his record and positions, they love what he has to say and ask me why they don't see him on the news. I don't even know what to tell them.
If Ron Paul got HALF the free air time as the other candidates, this would be a cake walk. We wouldn't even need precinct leaders because people would flock to him, much the same way we have.
But alas, that is not the case. We ARE the Ron Paul media. Luckily, Ron Paul makes it very easy to sell his message. The question then becomes how many people will hear his message before it's too late?

I canvassed my precinct today.
I wish I had done it sooner. You have to try it.
The bag-boy at the grocery store tonight asked me who Ron Paul was -- he is voting in his first election. He didn't want to vote for Hillary or Obama and was concerned about the draft. I gave him one of the slim jims I carry in my purse. I'll never know how he votes buy I like to think I made a difference.

Is there a way I can help by cellphone in a Super Tuesday state?
yes there is
If you're willing to go down a list and call people and follow a script (sort of). I have found that it would be physically impossible to do both voter ID and voter conversion in my precinct by myself, as I have over 3000 people in my precinct. Plus, when you do the Voter ID (non-advocacy survey) people think you ar ea pollster or telemarketer and they hang up or make some rude comment then hang up. I find though, that when I identify myself as a local resident who is volunteering for Ron Paul and checking to see what members of our community think of Dr. Paul or they've heard about him or have any questions about him (essentially doing the voter conversion part first), I get better results, both in people being willing to talk to me and in people being receptive to the message. With Voter ID, you don't know if the people hanging up on you are die hard RP supporters or not, as I too am inclined to hang up on telemarketers, or not even answer my phone if it says "Private Call" or is a number I'm not familiar with. I felt I had to block my caller ID when calling with the polling script because people would know I was local and might call shenanigans on my "polling." However, when you get a call from a local number, I think people are more likely to pick up the phone, which my experience has borne out. The downside is, you can't always get who they support if they are not RP supporters, but what I have been doing if they say they're voting for someone else, is just classify them under "non-voter/anti-supporter." Even though they are not "non-voters" they are certainly "anti-supporters" and in any event not likely candidates for further follow-up.
To make a long story short, if you want to send me an email, I can send you a list with names, addresses and phone numbers of voters I have not gotten to and you can call them, but you need to have good familiarity with RP's positions, so you can sell him. Basically you open with some variation of identifying yourself by name and as an RP supporter who is doing volunteer phone canvassing and you would like to know what people think/if they've heard of/and or if they have questions about RP. At this point, people will either a) hang up, b) say no thanks and then hang up ,c) identify themselves as supporters of someone else, d) say they also support RP, or e) say they have heard about him (or they haven't about him). For d), remind them that the primary is this Tuesday and that they have to ask for a Republican ballot at their polling place, and tell them that Dr. Paul appreciates their vote. For e) people it gets interesting. You need to ask them if they have decided who they intend to vote for for President, for most of them they don't know or aren't sure. You then ask them what issues are important. Some will say "I don't know." For these people, ask them if they thought Ronald Reagan was a good President. If they say "no" then they aren't our people and you let them go, if they say "yes" then this leads you into how RP was one of only 4 congressmen in 1976 who endorsed Reagan and Dr. Paul is the only one of the Republican candidates who Ronald Reagan endorsed and campaigned for when RP ran for office. for the ones who know what their issues are, whatever the issue, start selling RP''s position. The media has not permitted him to get hos message out through their outlets, but if we personally get his message out, person by person, we can win. Freedom sells itself.
What a blast
I can't believe how much fun I had canvassing in my precinct today. I was able to convert Republicans who had been too busy to find out what is going. I can relate to that feeling of being busy. I wish I had time to do this a long time ago. For those who haven't canvassed yet, I wholeheartedly recommend getting out there and doing it. Peace.

it is not ONLY about canvassing. It's about getting your mother, father, brother, sister, cousin, friend, co-worker to stand behind you and go with you to the caucus. Look at Maine and see how small numbers could have tipped things in many precincts. This is the MOST important thing I can share with you having just caucused. Romniacs did that, they came in what I'd call family unit droves.

It works
Even if you can't go out and canvass, calling people is very effective. It accomplishes a few things:
*Supporters: It gives them hope and encouragement that they are not alone
*People who like him but don't think he can win: it encourages them to vote
*People who don't know who he is and are undecided: it gives them another option that they weren't even away of
*People who are ignorant and will never vote for him: it shows them that there are people like us out there who really care. You may be the tipping point to get them to care about what is going on.
*People who hate Ron Paul and support Hillary O'McRomnabee: well, at least you tried. When the country goes to hell in a hand basket, they will come to you to ask forgiveness.

Canvassing is THE SECRET to winning this election for Dr. Paul. But it would be really obnoxious to interrupt people while they're watching the Super Bowl. So make sure to take a break while it's on.

THIS IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT - TAKE IT FROM MAINE
Look at how many people are showing up to caucus... pretty small totals like:
8 at one town, 30 at another town, 55, 22, 15 and so on.
You don't have to go out and find 20 people. Go out and find 3. Find a Ron Paul supporter and then ask them if you can count on their support. Tell them how close the numbers can be. Get their name and phone number and tell them you will call them the morning of the caucus to come out. This is how it's done.
Also, NOW is the time to get your brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles, cousins, and friends to come out and support YOU as a delegate. This strategy works!
