One thing you can tell people who say "I would vote for him, but he won't win"

Of course you can remind them that they aren't at the track, and there is no payoff for picking the winner...
But another way to state it is to ask them if they remember how many "Bush/Cheney" or "W-'04" stickers they used to see back then vs. now, and the contrast it to the number of faded old "Kerry/Edwards" or even "Gore" stickers that people still keep on their cars in proud defiance. Ask them if they want to be in the first camp just for picking a "winner" that will only tank later, or do they want the "I told you so" satisfaction of having an RP sticker on their car even if he (god forbid) doesn't win...

Remember what Dr Paul said in the debate, way back he was one of only 4 in congress that supported Reagan in his first run for the nomination. He STILL did it, because it was the right thing to do;

You need to have the same integrity as the candidate you want to vote for. It is un-American to not vote for the person that you want
What I say...
I say this: All the other candidates are the same. Your vote for them makes little difference. But your vote for Ron Paul makes a BIG difference, because even if he doesn't win your state, your vote is making a statement. Even if he only gets 10 or 15 percent, your vote is saying to all the other candidates--- and all the candidates to come in the future--"You want *this* 10 or 15 percent of the vote? You need to adopt Ron Paul's ideas."
Your vote is also telling people in other states that Ron Paul deserves their support. This is how 10 or 15 percent becomes 20 or 30 percent and eventually 51 percent or more. This is how we will win!

It doesn't matter if Ron Paul wins like it was some kind of a ball game! This is all about each of us as individuals running out and standing up with a friend who is outnumbered by powerful and unprincipled bullies who have taken over the ball field by force.
Ron Paul is honorable and logical, has a backbone made of titanium and just as important, he is correct. I'd be honored to take a bloody nose for the guy who took hits for me in the House of Representatives for 20 years without backing down once.
