Ron Paul Top's Rivals in Donations from Church Leaders?
Submitted by SFTS on Sun, 02/03/2008 - 03:45
To hear the MSM media tell it, christian conservatives are the wind in Huckabee's sails. But the FEC report reveals a different story.
Go to the FEC website http://www.fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/mapApp.do
Click "Republicans"
In the search bars "Donors Name" - "Contains" - "Rev."
Be sure to put a period at the end of Rev. in the search bar.
Here's a rough tally of individual Reverends that have donated to Republican Presidential candidates as of 12-31-2007.
Ron Paul - 329
McCain - 32
Romney - 11
Thompson - 8
Huckabee - 7
Giuliani - 5
Brownback - 4
Hunter - 2
Cox - 1
This may be worth the campaign calling a Press Conference.

Funny
I received a card from the Ron Paul campaign sometime ago. It was addressed to me as a Rev. I am not a Rev. and it would be pretty had to scroll down to pick that option.
bump
Too good to go down the memory hole.
Why is this not a press release like the military contributions?
oh yea! I was passing out
oh yea! I was passing out Ron Paul fliers to my church today.... it's good to see some Christians are getting the message... now if only they would help spread it.
Anyone with connections to HQ to verify this?
If this is true, they cannot sit on this!
Gotta wonder, if it is true, why are they not already on it?
Being on it?
Being on it is not the question or answer... DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT IS THE REQUIREMENT !

Agreed! Why doesn't HQ have a press release on this?
This is serious when Huck is thought to have the Christian vote locked up.
Connections to HQ anyone to get them to look at this and act upon it if it is true?
I think you're on to
I think you're on to something BIG! If my calculations are correct, Ron Paul received 83% of contributions from donors who identified themselves as "Rev."
Not all ministers Revs
Don't mean to derail the train, however... many evangelical preachers or pastors do not address themselvse as reverend..
They do in Appalachia
Even if your claim is true, it does'nt change the fact more people that identify themselves as Reverend donated to the Ron Paul campaign than any other Republican campaign.

If HQ can verify it, they BETTER toot RP's horn on this!!!
I hope this is for real. Just may be the break RP needs. He cannot be dismissed on the issue of "electability" if he has the most contributions from Christian leaders.
Tooting a horn?
Tooting a horn requires some blowing skills, the campaign only "SUCKS"

Interesting post.
Interesting post.
Huckabee support cannabalizing Paul's
McCain is the front-runner. Huckabee is the low man on the totem pole. His "surge" in the polls after the first Iowa Caucus was contributed to support among christian conservatives. Between them and the Fair Tax people, Huckabee is enjoying percentages that otherwise would be Paul's. Huck is on the ropes. McCain is getting his second wind. Huck is the logical choice to bump off in this race, yet everyone seems to be focusing on McCain with this "Paul leads in donations from the Military". Thats last quarters news. Even though it may also be a fact in this quarter, it's old news.
Popular perception among christian conservative voters is Huckabee is who christian conservatives support. If we shatter that perception Dr Paul will get more votes from christian conservatives and expedite Huckabee's exit from the race, which afterward would mean even more votes for Dr Paul and a likely virtual 3-way tie. Thats why this fundraising headline is more beneficial immediately than the 5 Military fundraising headlines that this one was buried under.

This is solid
If this is verifiable, this is huge.

Verify it.
I did the count myself. There's a margin of error I'm sure (I'd have to be functionally illiterate to have a margin of error greater than Dr Paul's lead), so anyone else that wants to count, please do. Someone experienced in tabulating data needs to give this a once or twice over, chart ALL the numbers, and annalyze it, so it's all legit.
