Wal-Mart Parking Lots? Has anyone done RP flyers or signs there?
Submitted by SargentPepper on Sun, 02/03/2008 - 12:38
I just read in another post of someone putting out flyers at a Walmart parking lot. Since almost everyone in the US shops there, that would be a great place to focus on. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in putting out flyers or signing at Wally World?

If you're in a caucus state this "shotgun" strategy to get the
message out is good, feels good, but is ultimately ineffective.
Not many people participate in caucuses and thus you must go find a person who 1.) supports Ron Paul and 2.) will spend time to go caucus and 3.) hopefully excited enough to become a delegate
This requires in person communication. i.e. CANVASSING or, getting your brother, sister, father, mother, grandparents, co-workers, cousins, aunts, and uncles excited enough to support/join your effort.
I grossly underestimated that caucus process (first time caucus goer). 78 total people showed up to caucus in my town of 17,500. Ron Paul supporters in each precinct should challenge one another to bring X people to caucus with them. Find out how many people typically caucus in your precinct. Triple that number because voter turnout has been record breaking in every state thus far. Figure out 51% of that number, and voila that is how many Ron Paul supporters you better have turn out at caucus to win.
Ron Paul 2008
Ah! Now we are learning some stuff!
Thanks! Although increasing overall name recognition is good for the general election.
My wife works at Walmart and
My wife works at Walmart and there are RP supporters at Walmart. I put fliers out during the day at Walmart, Sam's Club.
I would think that all corporate entity would not allow political statements in their area to avoid alienating customers.
Just make sure to look out for any security jeep/car roaming around in any place u are putting out fliers. The slim jims are really easy to work with. You can 98% of the time stick it at the driver's side window, handle or under the side mirror.
I also bombarded restaurants, Staples, etc. Some non-RP supporters can report your activity specially in the earlier days. I was told by a woman customer outside Olive Garden that what I was doing was littering and she directed me to take away the slim jims from all cars. I decided that that was time to quit the place for another place.
Good info
thanks
Efforts better served
I personally feel that targeting Wal-Mart shoppers is a wasted effort. The problem lies in that the mentality of a Wal-Mart shopper. RP supporters are smart people that have done their research and understand why RP is so important to this election. Wal-Mart shoppers are not these type of people. For if they were, they wounldn't be shopping at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is single handedly killing America (don't believe? watch "Wal-Mart: high cost/low price").
I think going after Target shoppers, or Costco would be time better spent.
I would guess there is a wide range of shoppers at Walmart
However any of those stores you suggested would be good as well. A vote is a vote.
Did it here in TX
had no problems. We did the Issues flyer from RonPaul2008.com
We hit ours
It had security cameras everywhere and we still put slim jims on every car.
Let's keep the freedom train rolling.
Let's keep the freedom train rolling.
Sounds like if you just do it
They don't really care - but if you ask before hand they might say no.
I have put out slim jims on cars at my WalMart in Kokomo, IN and
a local Ron Paul evangelical supporter put up Ron Paul signs on all the light posts going into and out of the WalMart... these signs he put up several weeks ago are still there... and all around town actually ...he did a very good job.
Do you have any pictures?
of the signs? Would be a great venue.
I'm sure WalMart corporate policy absolutely forbids it
I'm sure WalMart corporate policy absolutely forbids it. And there is the question of private property rights. If you can get permission from the facility manager it should be OK. Of course many large corporations get government subsidies, tax breaks and Eminent Domain land grabbing powers to locate their facilities in a particular location, which really throws the idea of private property into question.
Considering how much the tax reductions RP is proposing
would help Walmart both directly as well as putting more money in its customers pockets, you would think they as well as many other corporations would be hoping he is elected.
