I'm looking to move some assets around, because it appears that the market is about to pop.

I already have adequate positions in gold and silver. Now, I am looking for foreign markets to buy up some equity positions, or perhaps just go with a currency index like FXA, FXB, FXC, FXE, etc. I was thinking also of GLD, since that is the iShares Gold trust. There is also the iShares Silver SLV as well.

Anyone have a particular currency that they think will fare best in the next few months? I also understand that the downside of GLD and SLV is that they pay their expenses by selling off the assets, so the limit over time is that they would have sold all their assets to pay for their expenses.

I am also curious if anyone has open one of the etrade global accounts that allow you to trade directly on 6 different global markets including Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong, and if you have any opinions about it.

Does anyone have any specific stock picks that they like?

I have seen many investment threads on here that talk about gold, silver, and storable foods, and I have those areas covered.

But, I still have some other assets that need good homes where they can weather this financial crisis. Thanks.

I just received an email

I just received an email from Jacob Hornberger of The Future of Freedom Foundation. He basically said that the Fiat Monetary System cannot continue on forever, especially now that the government is spending money like there is no tomorrow. The problem will all investments is that they are all connected and interwoven with the Fiat Monetary System, sooner not later, the System will reach it's Maximum Possible Life-Span and collapse. Everything associated with the Fiat Monetary System will suffer the same fate as the system itself. So, all investments that are connected to our money will follow the money into ultimate and absolute collapse.

Consider this fact, throughout history all Fiat Systems have failed. The Life-Span of such systems, depending on the actions and spending habits of the governments supporting such systems, is usually between 40 to 70 years for Partial or Mixed Fiat Systems, and between 25 and 40 years for Total Fiat Systems. We have had the Total Fiat System imposed on this country since 1971 or about 37 years ago. Given the state of this government and the wreckless spending habits, I would say that we will all witness one of the most disturbing and chaotic periods in history.

Does the 28% on the GLD not

Does the 28% on the GLD not apply if it's in an IRA?

GLD is taxed at 28% as a

GLD is taxed at 28% as a collectible not like a true equity. Stocks are 15% capital gains after 12 months but not these precious metal ETFs. Make sure you are aware of that if you were to buy.

Heh

I do GLD in my Roth or Traditional Rollover.
