Washington State - Your Help is Needed

Update: The election is NOT over. Ron Paul is a 'frontrunner' in Washington State. The press have been good to him there, according to TJ who wanted me to add this link to my post.

To all supporters in Washington State or those who might see a way to get out there, here is an appeal from TJ, who is heading up the Gold Rush effort there and needs your help before the Feb 9th Caucuses:

"We definitely have a chance to win Washington State. The more people volunteering here, from out of state, the better. In one district alone we have 216 precincts, and usually only 30 of those precincts have caucus goers (we have a total of 2400 or so precincts).

We also have a large list of Ron Paul supporters we need to insure are at their correct caucus location. We could basically have the delegates given to us, if we could Get Out The Vote. Otherwise, as statistics show, there will only be about 40% of those people at the caucuses! So getting out the vote is vital.

We also will need to have as many Ron Paul volunteers as we can to call in the delegate counts and what not to HQ from the caucus locations and also help out with navigating volunteers.

I've created this blog: http://GoldRush2008.blogspot.com

We've got living space available. People should pack sleeping bags, just in case. Supporters wanting to volunteer should contact this email GoldRushWashington@Gmail.com for efficient responses and coordination."

Note: This effort is entirely separate from the LFOD effort in NH.

to check republican on your primary ballot. Our County auditor told the vote watchers today that she was training that there are already a lot of republican votes that will not be counted here in Whatcom County (we have mail in ballots) because they did not check the republican box. Also it was confirmed today by the same auditor that dems can cross over and vote for Ron in the primary since they won't cross check. So instead of slapping the Obama supporters encourage them to vote for RP in the primary because ALL the delegates for Wa state democrats will be chosen from the caucus. I have convinced my dem friends that at least they have a Republican anti- war candidate. It has worked!! (republicans will choose 1/2 delegates from the caucus and other 1/2 from the primary)

thanks for posting that!

WA needs help!

I'm in Mountlake Terrace

and have seen several signs around, and on my way to work in Everett. My wife and I both will be nominating ourselves to be delgates at the caucus Saturday- this will be a first for both of us. GO RON PAUL!!

When in SPokane

When Dr Paul was in Spokane last week, only one of the three news channels even covered the news at 11 that night.

Here is a presidnetial cadidate in town with a thousand peopel there and only one channel covers it.

We need Dr Paul up here again on Friday. I know he has the CPAC deal tomorrow but then he nneds to either be here or in Kansas Friday.

The McCain UN STraight Express needs to be derailed!

Tri Cities Area

I'm in the Tri Cities and I've only seen a few signs up. The State of WA needs to make a statement, by giving RP more media time or something. Or someone in HQ needs to pull their head out and listen to allot of frustrated voters who support him. All this time, the media has shund RP, about time they or we need to say enough and demand some respect. Why doesn't he challenge the other phonies and call them out on their records and what they have been saying or not saying?

Regarding WA

I just got my Primary Ballot and voted for Ron Paul, and this weekend are the caucuses, where I will again be voting Ron Paul. Fortunately there are a lot of RonPaul supporters in this area (as evidenced by yard signs) :) So I think he will win in my district anyway as most people here seem apathetic when it comes to the caucuses.

One thing that I think Dr. Paul *should* do is come visit Washington again. While Seattle, Tri-Cities and Spokane are the major Metropolitan Areas, he should take a moment to make stops in some of the smaller cities on the East side of the mountains. Cities like Wenatchee, Chelan, Omak are places where Dr. Paul enjoys significant support and he could easily take Eastern WA at least by making stops in many of the smaller cities along the way.

The eastern part of WA has always (to the best of my knowledge) voted Conservative, this is where I am from and we place high value on our gun rights, small government and low taxes. It is an area that is comprised primarily of agriculture. Most people that I talked to in Wenatchee before I moved across the state to Shelton, WA were very receptive to the Ron Paul message. Only 2 houses that I contacted were not interested. One of those being a household that doesn't participate in the elections because they say that WA state doesn't matter, and another who was an openly hostile McCain supporter, because "Those Terr'rsts are out to get us and hate us for our freedom". I thanked him for his time with a smile anyway and went on my way.

If Dr. Paul is planning on coming back to WA, I would suggest making stops in these areas and promoting the hell out of those stops.

I have also heard that Dr. Paul would be doing TV Ads in WA, and while I have seen 2 or 3 ads by Romney in the last few days, I am yet to see an ad on the TV for Dr. Paul.

I am a staunch supporter, but he will be beat out by Romney if he doesn't get some ads going here. Obamas ad even has a wa.barackobama.com link in the ad so that people can go find where to caucus, etc.

I both believe and want Dr. Paul to win this state. I will vote for him, as will my family in Eastern WA, but even here in Shelton (Close to Olympia) there is not much in the name of "Name recognition" here.

On the upside. I have received 3 or 4 calls from the Ron Paul Campaign in he last couple of weeks letting me know that they are calling me because I expressed interest when I signed up on the website. I let them know that I signed up to be a precinct leader in my precinct and they are happy to hear that and ask if I can come help on the phones. Sadly I am ~2 hours away and just don't have time or money after purchasing a house and starting a new job to drive 2 hours to make calls.

Ron Paul, you are the one that makes me believe in my country. NEVER give up!!!

If you've lost your voter reg. card, contact your county elections office.
In King County, it is at the county admin bldg at 500 4th ave, Seattle
Get your card before caucus!

Just my opinion here--but if somehow you can't get your card, bring photo IDs, utility bills, and something that shows what precinct your in, and do not relent.

The old WA state Rs will be overwhelmed by us. Let's give them a turnout they'll never forget!

I have the answer, but I need a team!

I live in Washington - Seattle area

I want to go to my caucus, but I've been told I need my voter registration card. I am registered, but I lost my card years ago. I always just vote by mail, and I have my vote for Ron Paul ready to be mailed out tommorrow.

I emailed the county to try to find out how I can caucus or get a replacement card, but so far no response.

Bozhi in Washington

Do not email, call your county courthouse and ask for the Voters Registation Office, they will help you. DO NOT EMAIL them, call them in person.

Get off your can and go to

Get off your can and go to the elections office. Go now, do this before 5pm. They can issue you a new card and you can vote on the spot while your at it.

Are you coordinating with Maureen Moore?

She's our state coordinator with the RP campaign, and here's the Washington state site for the campaign:

The biggest help here in Spokane would be if you could get it to stop snowing!! I know, you probably can't do that... it won't stop me from being at my caucus, which will be a first for me. I'm a regular voter, but I've never been to a caucus.

And fwiw, this side of the state has a goodly portion of those in the Mormon / LDS faith. During most of my phone canvassing, most of those I've reached are undecided or for McCain, mostly undecided.

The Spokane meetup list is 149 -- there are files and links to county election resources, with caucus locations too I believe. (I have a spreadsheet with the caucus locations too.)

And the only yard signs I've seen anywhere in the area are RP signs.

In SPokane yesterday

I was in Spokane yesterday and did see a number of RP signs around town.

But where do I need to go to help out either phone canvassing or door to door so I don't overlap others? For me, being in Hayden, ID, the best for me would be Otis Orchards, Newman Lake, Liberty Lake, Spokane Valley, etc.

I'm the Spokane Meetup organizer, if you email me through the meetup I can set you up with numbers to call or doors to knock on.

I'm sure this is coordinated with Maureen and HQ since they direct all canvassing activities.

When people say they are for McCain do you ever ask them WHY?
I just don't know what they see in him. His answers ramble and he makes no sense.

HQ doesn't run canvassing in WA

All they do is run the phone bank and do the other regular campaign functions. WA campaign has left canvassing to the meetup groups and precinct leaders.

The old republicans in Washington are 99.9% neocon

They were all for Fred before he quit, now they are going for McCain, but they have no passion.

Since I work in Seattle, all I hear is Obama Obama. I want to slap the poor dumb idiots, but I'm working for a bigger cause.

The only signs I see are for Ron Paul, but like I said, the old republicans in this state have no passion, that is why they never win. I think if we can get to the caucuses, we should have a good chance. But I've been told that I would need my voter's registration card, which I lost years ago. I'm trying to find a way to get a replacement. But, either way, I'll be mailing my vote for Ron Paul in tomorrow.

I hear you on the slapping especially when they can't tell you why.
And yes on the 'no passion'. This is why we need you young pups in the GOP to get them off this destructive globalist path, which makes them no better than Democrats, and get them back on preserving sovereignty, constitutional government, and reducing the debt.

RP better get up here again!

I know he was up here last week in Seattle and SPokane but we could use him here for a couple days. you know ROmney, Huckster, and McCain will be here but we need Dr Paul up here too. Down in Pullman, in the tri-cities, another visit to SPokane, then over to Tacoma, Olympia, Seattle. Get Dr Paul up here again!

Look at how well his visits did for ND and Minn. Looks like those two states are two of our best showings tonight!

But I will be canvassing on Thursday and Friday in and around SPokane as well.
