What's all this talk about a brokered convention?

How in God's green earth are we going to be able to do anything with, say, 100 delegates in a convention filled with criminal GOP party heads? I say go third party after this weekend. » |

..with your four weeks of "experience" on this site and with so many other democratic supporters listening to such political experts as Oprah and Chuck Norris, why shouldn't we take your advise and go third party????Because you are not RON PAUL, obviously, and you must not know how this game works. He goes goes for 3rd party run, he has to run third party for his seat in congress this year. That normally doesn't work too well in case you haven't done any research. Ross Perot spent $30M in 30 days before the end of the election because he could. We don't have access to those resources as you can see. Have you even considered the Bloomberg factor? Another Billionare with itch to run independant and he has said he could spent up to $1B+ to make a successful run.
This brilliant thought process is probably contributing to the reason why so many sheep are voting for McCain/Hillary/Obama today...because some fool from the Media said is was the thing to do.

Its TIME TO GO THIRD PARTY
Okay, I am going to get slammed for this post but its gotta be said - reality is,,,, Ron Paul is NEVER going to get the presidential nomination from the republicans - FORGET A BROKERED nomination because 1. McCain is going to get the nomination and 2. Paul would *never* be the GOP's voice...
Its time we ALL SEND EMAILS to campaign headquarters that are prepared to FINANCE a third party run... Paul's donations are going to fail if he stays in the republican field... IF HE GOES THIRD PARTY we can all donate over again for him... He will get lots of support from all the loosers supporters because the hate factor is so high this campaign and Ron has avoided the hate factor...
i.e. Romney and Huckabee's people hate McCain....
i.e. Obama's people hate Hillary...
We should all know by now that its going to be Hillary vs McCain...
and *all* the demos will get behind Hillary and all the repubs will get behind McCain and McCain will loose...

Ron has 10% popularity among the people and maybe more right now but all demos are voting in the demo primaries because its soo close and all republicans are backing McCain and the other mainstream republicans because its sooo close... they might WANT to vote Paul but cant at this time... its the hate factor...
Anyway - its *MY* take - and its not a loosing position but is really a WINNING position... Paul is getting killed by the GOP and thats just reality folks - it bites but its still reality...

Third party's have no infrastructure
RP is only one candidate in one position. Things won't really start to get better until we have a larger presence in both the congress and senate.
We can use the GOP people and processes to make sure that we can get on ballots and get into debates (the GOP did the honorable thing and backed out of the Fox News debate).

The "GOP mainstream" have demonstrated themselves to be the party of fascism and bloated government. The true conservative remnant will not be invited to a convention. The GOP can't win the election, but we'll still end up with the Dem's Marx-lite. I was willing to stick out and see if the GOP still had a conservative leg in it, but the Americows have spoken today. Ron should run in a 3rd Party TOMMOROW.
Let's fix America over the summer...
It doesn't work that way. Our country is broken. With dedication, we can get it trending in a positive direction. It's going to take a lot of work.
How does that help?
He'll still have the same 2-3million people voting for him and then it's saturation, right? Okay maybe 5million? Or even 10? But that doesn't win elections.

3rd party run shouldn't be out of the question
Ron Paul is being completely ignored by the media as it is right now. So how much less attention can you get? There is a real need/yearning in this counrty for a 3rd party. This is about the movement not the man. Let's set up our own party. We will never take over the Rep party. And Dems that would be intrested in RP message will never convert to (R) because of their ego. And both sides are so intrenched with the left right paroblem that they won't switch either. 3%-5% in most states? A monkey could get 3-5%. It's a protest vote. If Ron lent his name to a third party it would be a huge boost for that party be it Constitution or Libertarian or whatever we choose. As it is right now people are trapped by their parties and forced to vote for the front runners. RP would be a very visible 3rd party alternative. Shoot it's all grassroots anyways. Would we stop knocking on doors and waving signs? Would we stop donating? What good has a (R) run done 4 us anyway? We never got time in debates. The idea that talk of a 3rd party run is off the table is obsurd! All options should be on the table.
This bothered me too...then I had the *lightbulb* moment...
Figure Ron Paul, acting very Presidential, running around and talking one on one to people. Outsmarting everyone. Being more passionate than everyone. Standing up there stating case after case about the mess our country is in.
I mean, if Ron Paul was actually RIGHT THERE IN YOUR FACE instead of CENSORED, don't you think people might SEE THE LIGHT??

They might see the light...but then what?
They wouldn't have anyone to vote for in the congress or senate except the same usual suspects. There are many people on here that have supported RP since 1988. The problem is that they didn't have anyone to vote for.
We need RP Republicans who can exploit the infrastructure that already exists within the GOP.
The power brokers in the GOP want to maintain their power. They'll pander to people within their own party whlie attacking the exact same person in a different party. By staying in the GOP, they will be uncomfortable and block us, but they will let us play the game. In a few election cycles, we can get RP Republicans to be the power brokers in the GOP. Then the non-RP Republicans will have to straighten up their act or lose their seat to a RP Republican pushed by the RP Republican power brokers in the GOP.

Third party is probably not viable
I read somewhere that those who voted in the Republican primaries cannot sign petitions to get a candidate entered as a third party candidate (something that is nicknamed "sore loser" rules). So, how many Ron Paul supporters are left that didn't vote in the primaries/caucuses? Probably not enough to get him on a third paty ticket.
In many ways we have won, even if he isn't nominated as the Republican candidate. Its just that if he's the Republican candidate, we could have taken a short cut to what we want.
100 Delegates Good For Me!
Read Ron Paul's comments on what he will do at a brokered convention. He will be the kingmaker as the ONLY true conservative. As Hillary is crowned as the Democratic Queen, the national delegates are going to get cold feet over McCain. Just watch and follow the leader.

In a brokered convention, delegates are free to support whoever they want.
When it comes to third party.....if you think the MSM has ignored Ron Paul so far......lol....if he did run as a thrid party.....you would never hear his name again on any media station.
Never mind the fact that a thrid party run is extremely expensive. Ross Perot couldnt do it....and he was a billionaire. Paul doesnt have that kind of money.

delegates feel pressured to support those candidates who win the "beauty" contests. Name one candidate over the last forty years who won more delegates but did not win the nomination because delegates would not support the candidate? If Dr. Paul gets, say, 4% in a state primary and then the delegates choose Dr. Paul, then the electorate would be completely outraged.
