ONLY ANSWER IF YOU REALLY KNOW
Submitted by saywhat5959 on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 23:25
I have seen so many random posts on here. I am wondering what happens now.
Please only answer if you really know or you are connected to the campaign. Are we in trouble? Will we go third party? Will the brokered convention actually happen?
I'm not losing faith I'm just not sure how it all works.
Thanks

I Know. And it's ALL about the delegates. I will repeat this on.
Every thread if necessary. The other candidate's people are lazy. The candidates are lazy. They have ALL the media working for them.
We are HUNGRY!

Okay, so since you know, then..
Please answer this question:
In a random state where RP has received, say, 4-6% of the vote, why would the Republican party just allow RP people who want to be delegates vote each other in especially if they outnumber us?
Aren't they reading the RP site and other sites that are discussing a brokered convention and being a delegate? Don't they know what RP people are planning already and won't they try and thwart us?
What makes you think that we can "convert" these people away from someone who they think has a chance of beating Hillary? (wrong assumption, but...how do we prove RP has a chance of beating the Dem if he is getting a low % of votes?)
Please someone answer this question who knows!

Bump...
Ron Paul 2008!
NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.
Ron Paul needs to win 5 states before September
Ron Paul must win 5 states to have his name placed in nomination. In some cases, the states so far have voted for delegates to their state conventions. As we saw in West Virginia, Romney had the most support, but he did not win.
Ron Paul can still win over delegates, so if you know any, be sure to lobby them. You might start attending Republican meetings (check Meet-up, etc.) to make new friends. Delegates are usually free to vote any way they want, if not on the first ballot, then on the 2nd, 3rd, etc.
Sooner or later someone else will make a horrible mistake or drop out. Then their delegates will be in play.
Ron Paul won't drop out unless we stop supporting him. So, as long as he wins 5 states and we support him, look for his campaign to stay alive no matter who has any number of delegates. They don't vote until the national convention and it's a very long way away.

There seems to be some discrepancy regarding the idea that we need to win 5 states to be eligible for the nomination. Here are the rules set forth by the GOP found here: http://www.gop.com/About/...
RULE NO. 40
Nominations
(a) In making the nominations for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States and voting thereon, the roll of the states shall be called separately in each case; provided, however, that if there is only one candidate for nomination for Vice President of the United States who has demonstrated the support required by paragraph (b) of this rule, a motion to nominate for such office by acclamation shall be in order and no calling of the roll with respect to such office shall be required.
(b) Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of five (5) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination.
(c) The total time of the nominating speech and seconding speeches for any candidate for nomination for President of the United States or Vice President of the United States shall not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.
(d) When at the close of a roll call any candidate for nomination for President of the United States or Vice President of the United States has received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the convention, the chairman of the convention shall declare that the candidate has been nominated.
(e) If no candidate shall have received such majority, the chairman of the convention shall direct the roll of the states be called again and shall repeat the calling of the roll until a candidate shall have received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the convention.
(f) For the 2004 Republican National Convention, notwithstanding any other provision of these rules or any Rule of the House of Representatives, it shall be in the discretion of the Chair to suspend the roll call conducted to nominate the candidate for President of the United States at any time in order to conduct other Convention business under the established order of business.
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
We're not looking for a huge win...
...we don't expect one either. The media wrote us off months and months ago.
Mitt said he's in to the end. Which means no one will get 51% of the vote at the National Convention.
As of right now we are
As of right now we are looking at a brokered convention because there will be no clear winner to assure the nomination.
Don't worry we are picking up lots of delegates today.
DO NOT LOOK AT THE POPULAR VOTE SO MUCH FOR DELEGATES ARE WHAT REALLY COUNTS AT THIS POINT.
We are having a good day people please believe me
We are far from finished

I want to believe you
I know we picked up 3 in WV, 5 in SD. We'll probably get a few from our 2nd place win in Montana. Hopefully a few from California.
Is that your definition of a lot? Or are there more that I am missing?
