Bad Timing, but believe it or not, the Internet will decide the

presidential election of 2012. My only wish is that Dr. Paul has an apprentice in the waiting. Goldwater gave us Reagan, where is Ron Paul's Reagan? The times they are a changing. The people that decided this election will not be the majority next go around. We will be the majority. Generation X, the internet generation will decide 2012. 2012 will not be the end of the world, and will be the beginning of a new era. Who will be our Reagan?

Remember in "Chariots of Fire"
in one race leading up to the 1924 Olympics Eric Liddell tripped and fell flat on his face only to scramble, get back up on his feet and win the race.
(And this is a true story, not just Hollywood fiction).
Don't give up until this race is over!

I made this prediction in 2004
In 2004, I wrote a paper for a comparative media class that discussed the Howard Dean campaign and grassroots internet movements. Dean's campaign was subverted by media outlets rebroadcasting "the Dean scream." This seemed like totally unfair treatment, but it reiterated the theme that old media and new media are competing for the attention economy. I predicted this sort of Internet uprising will keep happening every 4 years until eventually the old model of media election control is truly obsolete.
In 2004 social networks were just beginning to take hold of society, but now in 2008 nearly everyone under 30 is on Facebook or MySpace and nearly everyone in this age group watches YouTube. What Ron Paul was up against was a lack of conservative voters who oppose the war or even aware of his campaign. By the time it came down to voting, even though we probably got over the name recognition hurdle with the grassroots effort, Ron Paul was already cast as a "fringe" candidate and so the psychology of horse-betting overwhelmingly dominated (I know many Ron Paul supporters voted Obama to try to beat Hillary in states with Open Primaries).
One of the tragedies of this
One of the tragedies of this campaign is that we RP supporters overestimated the power and reach of the Web, while underestimating the power and reach of traditional mainstream media outlets like TV, print, and radio.
The results of the primaries and caucuses thus far have shown that the majority of American voters still are brainwashed into voting for the candidate who they feel will win in the end; they don't vote based on principles as it is too taxing for their little brains. Mainstream media coverage is responsible for this phenomena. This is how John McCain is now the front runner.

RAND PAUL!! 2012
**
I like him
But I think it needs to be a former Governor or Senator.
Your right on the money.
I've been thinking this myself for a while now. I kind of wish Dr Paul had picked a running mate, so we could start working now on getting him in. It takes a long time to assemble an organization like a presidential campaign. Most of the other candidates have been in the big time before and had those resources to pull from. I think that we need to build the movement around the platform for the time being and hope someone comes along who can fill the Dr Paul's shoes. But I do think we will have the advantage of the Internet being the more dominant media source in 2012 and 2016. As soon as the Internet hits the couches of America then the revolution will get some traction.
Remember WebTV?
Remember WebTV?
Ya but that was crap.
Web TV was not mainstream at all. It will get cheaper, and within four years you wont be able to by a TV without it being compatible with your computer. With the amazing rapid advances in video streaming this will kill the MSM for good. So to put it another way... Don't worry porn will save us. : 0
Good point
Howard Dean started internet campaign. Ron Paul revolutionized it. There is no denying that the net will be a major factor from here on out. It's bigger than when they first had televised debates.

Sorry, I don't mean to be so negative,
I'm just really down about the support. They are beating us down, but I will be here until the end.
By 2012 there won't be any Gen X here
They'll be drafted to fight a war for some other country in the name of spreading democracy.
scenario
The scenario is more complicated to me.
Having a draft AND universal healthcare seems a sure recipe for a baby boom. To either have a baby or go fight in a war you don't believe in is a no-brainer, but you can't keep having babies. Eventually those women will be drafted and the children will be taken care of in state run facilities. Indoctrination from the cradle while the parents go off to war.
Athens won the Peloponnesian War but never regained its glory. The 27 years it took meant that all the young men returning home had only been taught the art of war. A generation was lost. They had no talent or appreciation for the arts and sciences. A full generation from cradle to adulthood is needed to make the change. Drafting (sacrificing) everyone from 18-42 years old and caring for the children will accomplish this.
NO! Do NOT Fight for the Anti-Christ.
Read my post about this!

Hopefully not, but there is no denying that we are now aware.

??, really? Are you really confused?
It's pretty simple. The Old Media is in control right now, and has successfully decided this election. The internet was able to stir up great support for Dr. Paul. Our generation of internet geeks, and those that do not watch the nightly news, or receive the daily news paper will be the majority in 2012. If the government is not able to regulate the internet it will be on. I'm really surprised that someone on this site would not understand this logic.

I need to explain myself using those two ??-marks like that. I understood you clearly, I'm not completely wasted on the simple things. But you speaking about 2012 as if that's going to fix anything is where those two ??-marks of mine came from.
You're right being concerned about the internet, they want to put watchdogs on it, probably already dripping with them now thanks to the Patriot Act (and what a bunch of horseshit that is -- patriot is not the right word, not even close to it). I'm not lost for understanding that our government is corrupt and greedy and wanting more. I believe that completely, and I believe they have utter control (or soon will have the more time that goes by -- 2012 -- that's only going to make them even stronger than they are now for goodness sake).
They have control; there is no two major political party system in this country as it is now, it is of one mind and that mind is to control the world for it's own devices. The ones in control are not likely to relinquish that control in a couple of years simply because it might be time for a new presidential election. WAKE UP!
Here, entertain yourself a few minutes and watch this video. Perhaps then my use of the two ??-marks won't seem quite so far-fetched:

and I feel fairly confident that the internet will be comprimised by the same folks that comprimised the main stream media before long.
