It has been a while since I have posted a blog here on www.dailypaul.com and I am excited to say that I have extremely good news from the heart of the campaign.
First, support continues to grow and people are flooding the office with phone calls voicing their support and giving tremendous amounts of money.
We have also had some awesome press news recently. Along with the third Republican Presidential debate, Ron Paul has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report with Steven Colbert, and other numerous news shows both television and radio.
I hope everyone got a chance to read Michael Nystrom’s account of the debate in New Hampshire. It was a blast and the people of Manchester, NH were awesome. I have never met a group of enthusiastic supporters like the ones I met in Murphy’s Tap Room that night after the debate. It was like a rock concert, and when my grandfather entered, the place went wild.
A special thanks goes out to Kate and the people behind www.ronpaulhq.com I love my shirt, and I love the movement in New Hampshire. At this time of year in Texas, my promise to move to New Hampshire looks very tempting!
My life has been incredibly busy lately. In addition to working for my grandfather’s campaign this summer, I recently accepted a position as an assistant principal at a local high school and my wife and I bought our first home. Those of you out there that know how much stress is associated with that can understand what kind of a month it has been.
My role with the campaign has not really changed, but I have been putting in many more hours to the cause. My small role includes answering the phones at 1-800-RON-PAUL and visiting with supporters about questions and concerns they have about the campaign and taking down monetary contributions. Coming from the guy that is writing all the credit card numbers and amounts down, I am here to say that people ARE donating. But, we need more if we are going to compete with the likes of Rudy McRomneyson.
Ron Paul's MySpace account also continues to grow. Ron Paul now has over 31,000 friends, and we are fast approaching John McCain’s total. www.myspace.com/ronpaul2008
Our supporters are the best!
Here is what we need: We must translate all the internet popularity to real and tangible support. If you do not have a bumper sticker on your car – call 1-800-RON-PAUL and make a donation to cover the postage and we will send you some. We also need voters that live in states that require party affiliation to join the Republican party so they can vote for Ron Paul in the primary. If you are a Democrat or a Libertarian party member who supports Ron Paul, please join the Republican Party to vote in the primary. This is soooo important.
Lastly, please donate any money that you can to the campaign. We have calls ranging from $25 donations to $2300. Anything you can give helps the cause!
Now a personal note about my family and my grandfather, Ron Paul. My family is still very supportive and extremely excited about all that has happened recently. We look forward to sharing this great man with the entire nation. My grandfather’s message is picking up steam and people are amazed to hear the truth spoken so clearly and honestly. I promise you that he will continue to do so as long as his supporters back him the way they have been. He is thrilled about the MeetUp groups and people around the country that are taking the initiative to campaign and spread this wonderful message of freedom and liberty.
Remember that this is a battle worth fighting. Do not get discouraged because the main stream media is not giving us the attention we think we deserve. Continue to work to convert more Ron Paul supporters. Remember that this is a rEVOLution and we are figthing for more than just the presidency. We are fighting for our Constitution and our rights as people in this great land which have been eroded more and more as of late.
I will end with this: After The Daily Show aired a few weeks ago, I was preparing to leave for New Hampshire for the debate. My very good friend, who is an attorney in Houston, called me to chat about the show. He told me that while my grandfather was gaining support, an even bigger thing was happening. He said that there may be hundreds, if not thousands, of people sitting at home who just watched the program who had entertained the idea of running for office in the past but never did because their ideas of liberty, freedom, and limited government were overlooked. They now have an example. Ron Paul is leading the way for the 21st century to see that these ideas are not “fringe.â€
This generation of people may be young, but we are not stupid. We took government and civics in high school, and we learned about the role of government, checks and balances and the reasons for which our nation was founded. We also see that our nation has strayed from this course.
Maybe you are one of the ones at home watching this Ron Paul rEVOLution who entertained the idea of running for city council, state representative, or even the House of Representatives or the Senate. Maybe you thought your ideas of less government involvement and freedom weren’t popular. I hope that this campaign, if nothing else, can motivate people to begin to change this notion. Don’t let Ron Paul be the only one fighting this battle.
A Revolution needs more than one leader. Be a leader in this rEVOLution.
If I can be of any help to anyone out there, please email me at email@example.com
May God continue to bless this rEVOLution!
