It has been a while since I have posted a blog here on www.dailypaul.com and I am excited to say that I have extremely good news from the heart of the campaign.

First, support continues to grow and people are flooding the office with phone calls voicing their support and giving tremendous amounts of money.

We have also had some awesome press news recently. Along with the third Republican Presidential debate, Ron Paul has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report with Steven Colbert, and other numerous news shows both television and radio.

I hope everyone got a chance to read Michael Nystrom’s account of the debate in New Hampshire. It was a blast and the people of Manchester, NH were awesome. I have never met a group of enthusiastic supporters like the ones I met in Murphy’s Tap Room that night after the debate. It was like a rock concert, and when my grandfather entered, the place went wild.

A special thanks goes out to Kate and the people behind www.ronpaulhq.com I love my shirt, and I love the movement in New Hampshire. At this time of year in Texas, my promise to move to New Hampshire looks very tempting!

My life has been incredibly busy lately. In addition to working for my grandfather’s campaign this summer, I recently accepted a position as an assistant principal at a local high school and my wife and I bought our first home. Those of you out there that know how much stress is associated with that can understand what kind of a month it has been.

My role with the campaign has not really changed, but I have been putting in many more hours to the cause. My small role includes answering the phones at 1-800-RON-PAUL and visiting with supporters about questions and concerns they have about the campaign and taking down monetary contributions. Coming from the guy that is writing all the credit card numbers and amounts down, I am here to say that people ARE donating. But, we need more if we are going to compete with the likes of Rudy McRomneyson.

Ron Paul's MySpace account also continues to grow. Ron Paul now has over 31,000 friends, and we are fast approaching John McCain’s total. www.myspace.com/ronpaul2008

Our supporters are the best!

Here is what we need: We must translate all the internet popularity to real and tangible support. If you do not have a bumper sticker on your car – call 1-800-RON-PAUL and make a donation to cover the postage and we will send you some. We also need voters that live in states that require party affiliation to join the Republican party so they can vote for Ron Paul in the primary. If you are a Democrat or a Libertarian party member who supports Ron Paul, please join the Republican Party to vote in the primary. This is soooo important.

Lastly, please donate any money that you can to the campaign. We have calls ranging from $25 donations to $2300. Anything you can give helps the cause!

Now a personal note about my family and my grandfather, Ron Paul. My family is still very supportive and extremely excited about all that has happened recently. We look forward to sharing this great man with the entire nation. My grandfather’s message is picking up steam and people are amazed to hear the truth spoken so clearly and honestly. I promise you that he will continue to do so as long as his supporters back him the way they have been. He is thrilled about the MeetUp groups and people around the country that are taking the initiative to campaign and spread this wonderful message of freedom and liberty.

Remember that this is a battle worth fighting. Do not get discouraged because the main stream media is not giving us the attention we think we deserve. Continue to work to convert more Ron Paul supporters. Remember that this is a rEVOLution and we are figthing for more than just the presidency. We are fighting for our Constitution and our rights as people in this great land which have been eroded more and more as of late.

I will end with this: After The Daily Show aired a few weeks ago, I was preparing to leave for New Hampshire for the debate. My very good friend, who is an attorney in Houston, called me to chat about the show. He told me that while my grandfather was gaining support, an even bigger thing was happening. He said that there may be hundreds, if not thousands, of people sitting at home who just watched the program who had entertained the idea of running for office in the past but never did because their ideas of liberty, freedom, and limited government were overlooked. They now have an example. Ron Paul is leading the way for the 21st century to see that these ideas are not “fringe.”

This generation of people may be young, but we are not stupid. We took government and civics in high school, and we learned about the role of government, checks and balances and the reasons for which our nation was founded. We also see that our nation has strayed from this course.

Maybe you are one of the ones at home watching this Ron Paul rEVOLution who entertained the idea of running for city council, state representative, or even the House of Representatives or the Senate. Maybe you thought your ideas of less government involvement and freedom weren’t popular. I hope that this campaign, if nothing else, can motivate people to begin to change this notion. Don’t let Ron Paul be the only one fighting this battle.

A Revolution needs more than one leader. Be a leader in this rEVOLution.

If I can be of any help to anyone out there, please email me at matt@ronpaul2008.com

May God continue to bless this rEVOLution!

Donation timing

What also needs mentioning is not only to donate, but do so BEFORE JUNE 30th. Ron is getting a lot of press right now but a solid second quarter fundraiser showing will really help make him a serious contender in the eyes of mainstream America.

Check out Ron Paul TV at:

www.FreeMe.tv is an Internet based television channel fully dedicated to Dr. Ron Paul and his 2008 Presidential campaign. Entertaining and philosophical video content is also added to provide a rich expierence to the viewer.

DVD of Ron Paul

I think it would be a good idea for someone to come up with a 15-20 min dvd of Ron Paul on the different debates, interviews, etc. to hand out to people. I dont have the means of doing it, but I think it would be a good tool to spread the word to mostly older people that dont really use the internet and only watch mainstream news. You could sell them for like $5 a dvd or whatever. What does everyone think?

I have been considering this also. Ther are some dvds going around but the quality is considerably less than stellar.. Plus the fact remains that home burned DVDs dont always play on home dvd players. The video files I have seen have been full of artifacts from being compressed for internet streaming. Many people will not deal with this. It would be great if the official RP organization would make available some good quality video clips for us grassroots people to use to create content. A commercial pressing could be done also of "real" not dvdr discs. This would be great for an independant group to do, as donations to do this would not be donations to the offficial organization and not controlled by finance laws. This would be a great inroad for the message for people without internet access, like older people that are not tech friendly. Many older people would be receptive to Dr Pauls ideas, as they in many cases are not brainwashed as much as the average "American Idol" watching crowd. Also VHS dubs could be done for them. I will be researching prices on pressing. I know audio CDs can be commecially pressed for around $1.00 per disk including sleeve/artwork etc. in quantities of 1000 or more. Anyone here run a pressing plant???

Have a great weekend all!

Man and Ideas

I have occasionally found men in Washington who espoused ideas I admired and supported. But it was just the ideas, not the men.

I have often been involved in political campaigns, to varying degrees, usually Libertarians and the occasional Republican or non-party 'whacko' who says something that gets my attention.

But I have only once before in my political life found a MAN that I admired or felt any genuine emotion toward. That was Ronald Reagan. I grew up with him on my television during dinner every night, telling me that America was a great nation with a bright future, and all it took to achieve our potential as a country was for each citizen to strive to reach his own full potential, and for government to 'get the hell out of the way'.

And now, again, I have found a public servant who stirs those old feelings in me. A wise, strong-willed, patient, rational, informed, and sincere individual who genuinely believes in doing the right thing for the citizens - including not doing anything at all, which is sadly such a novel idea in the halls of our capital.

I can say that I value your grandfather almost as much as your family does. I have supported him since discovering him many years ago, and my heart hit my throat and stayed there for days, when I learned that he was running for the White House. He is already changing America for the better, and the millions of us in this nation and around the world who have heard his call to Liberty love him for it.

Independence Day!

word on the street is that Fred Thompson plans on announcing his candidacy on 4th of July... would be great to overshadow him with banners up everywhere for Ron Paul, I can think of a few key places in the Bay Area already. People will be out and about that day, often stuck in traffic, it will be great to have Google Ron Paul Revolution Banners all over the highways.

Cops will be out, but stopping Drunk Drivers, I think the Posters could stay up for a while!

You're welcome!

Anything we can do to help your grandfather is really an honor--and a pleasure.

So come on back anytime; and I'm glad the t-shirt is such a hit. ;)

What happened to the 4-5

What happened to the 4-5 million figure proposed a week or so ago?

Michael Nystrom's picture

That was an unofficial report

xen_lord - that figure was from an unofficial news report from the Free Market News.

Unofficial Report

...and to my regret, I posted it. I now know that there is certain information that should come from the Ron Paul headquarters only so we do not in any way market speculation stated as fact. Campaign contributions fall into this category.

Fonta is wiser. And the new "confirmed" total is great!

It’s definitely over

It’s definitely over three, probably over four, and if it hasn’t hit five yet, it will soon.” according to the source "close" to the campaign.

kinda disappointing if that's completely off.

We've got

plenty of time between now and the end of the month to boost it...

Great to hear from you

Matt - Congratulations on the new job and the new house! That is great news. Thanks for the update - nice to hear the good news from ground zero. We're all giving it everything we've got!

Congratulations, and great job!!!

Go Ron Paul!

CDs/DVDs with Ron's Issues

I love the idea of 3-5 minute clips on each issue. People can burn these CDs themselves and distribute them everywhere, and even those on dialup who can't get to YouTube will be able to get Ron's message in a nice convenient capsule.

Also in NH we need to think about going into the college campuses for outreach to students who make up a large voting block here.
