Libertarian Party sends condolences to the Republican National Committee

With the rise of John McCain, LP offers sympathy for the death of small-government values within the GOP

Washington, D.C. - Following a solid McCain victory in the Super Tuesday primaries, the Libertarian Party has sent Republican headquarters a funeral wreath marking the death of limited-government values within the Republican Party. The wreath was hand-delivered to the D.C. offices of the Republican National Committee. "We simply felt the need to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Republican Party as they undergo this tough time within their party," says Libertarian Party National Media Coordinator Andrew Davis, who delivered the wreath.

"Given that it has become readily apparent that Senator McCain will soon be the presidential nominee for the Republican Party," reads a card that accompanied the wreath addressed to RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, "we, the staff of the Libertarian National Committee, send our condolences to you upon the death of small-government principles within the GOP."

The note continues:

Libertarians encourage competition within both the free-market and politics. Unfortunately, with the rise of John McCain and the big-spending practices of the Bush administration, the two-party system has emerged as representing only one philosophy - big-government liberalism.

With your loss, the Libertarian Party will continue to move forward to represent those American patriots who still believe in smaller government, lower taxes and more individual freedom.

"McCain's Super Tuesday win marks the death of limited government values within the Republican Party, which had struggled with its principles throughout the Bush administration," says Shane Cory, executive director of the Libertarian Party. "It is a day of mourning for the few remaining small-government Republicans."

For pictures of the wreath and its delivery to the RNC headquarters see below. For more information and interview requests, please call Andrew Davis at (202) 333-0008 during normal business hours, or at (202) 731-0002 during any other time.

The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. I believe there are two messages here

by the Libertarian Party: First, the rip to gop is true. They prove unworthy of our Constitution and we the people. Second, I see this as an overture to Ron Paul to recommit to a party who represents his ideals. The majority in both the LP and the CP already support Dr. Paul as their presidential nominee. Why not join forces now? With our spirited grassroots and those veterans in both parties, we can gain much needed media attention and ensure Ron Paul is included in the upcoming presidential debates. These organizations have money to spend on a tactical campaign. Couple this with our internet following, which will recharge once the decision is made, and you will see a revolution explosion! There is much, much more to gain by this move than to continue in denial to think a couple hundred delegates (not close yet) is some how going to magically throw the convention in our favor. They want us out so let's get out in order to forge a new bolder and more realistic direction. If supporters think this is quitting, it's not. It is facing the facts. Look at ronpaul2008.com. The donations are trickling in. Why? Because in spite of all the gr efforts, little has been accomplished in winning a majority of republican voters. The GOP has no intention of letting Ron Paul gain a foothold and is determined to block him every step of the way including media blackout. On the other hand, by embracing a like-minded party, Dr. Paul will gain the media attention he richly deserves. Just changing parties will create media hype. He will now be free to genuinely attack his opponents in both parties and show the American people that he alone represents hope for the future of this great country by restoring the Constitution. Let us not quit this campaign, but rather rethink and redirect it to be most effective under the Libertarian banner. We can WIN!

True, but the Constituition

True, but the Constituition party is the fastest rising or growing party. I think they even have an elected official in Montana!

Lets all send cans of old expired food we have to GOP hdquarters

Heh Heh... make sure its expired too... would it be a great media note if they got wind of it....
Ron Paul supporters flood GOP with cans of expired food to help them survive... heh heh

Couldn't happen.......

to a nicer bunch of guys. Without question, the GOP is dead and I can think of a no more fitting end to their demise.

The GOP thinks it is merely a publicity stunt, but it is reality. I'll be happy to shovel the first bit of dirt on their grave. We The People warned them, but they pay no attention. In the coming months, they will feel the wrath of their actions.....and it will not be pretty.

There are millions of Americans that have witnessed their actions, and they will never forget. What one sows is what one shall reap. Consider the wreath the first of the many bad things that they shall reap. They will be known in history as the ones that sold out America.

I love it!

Wish I'd have thought about it myself!

RIP GOP

the GOP is on life-support, it dies if anyone but Ron Paul is nominated ..... I loved the picture! RIP GOP. Will they send food over if McCain is nominated? (along with condolences, of course)

the GOP, like the

the GOP, like the Constitution and the rest of the country, is on life support... only the Dr. can save them now...

Gotta love it

I really blame alot of what has happened to Dr Paul on his own party. The GOP has had the opportunity to embrace the only true conservative candidate but instead, they chose to throw obstacles in Dr Paul's path at every opportunity. Ron Paul is not only the last hope for American's but also he is the last hope for the GOP.

Publicity stunt, and a good one!!

Pay attention!
This is an inexpensive way to get press.

Perhaps we can Send a One HUNDRED year Calendar to John McCain?

Maybe something like this

There is a piece of art by On Kawara, called "100 years calendar"
It's on a book cover here:
http://www.oto-housebooks.com/images/images%20catalogues%20+...

I wonder if there is a print available of the Artwork..I'm having a little trouble finding a better photo though.

It needs to be big! Huge even!
I think talk radio might get some mileage from this.
They are NOT part of the McCain fan club..

Very funny

But sadly true.

It's too bad

They couldn't send one to all of the big gubmint repubs in congress as well. That shit would be funny. However this is truly great.

Can you imagine the look

on their faces as they accepted the wreath? R.I.P. GOP

touche!
