What's Up With Stephen Colbert?

Stephen Colbert has consistently been a champion of libertarian ideas through his mocking comedy. He had Dr. Paul on his show a few months ago and treated him with respect. But, yesterday he took a cheap shot at him with a truly outrageous fake commercial.

What gives? I find it hard to believe that Colbert buckled to the whims of his corporate overlords. Why would he single out Ron Paul for such bad treatment and avoid the lunacy of Hucklebee and the others? I don't get it.
