Why Some Mainstreamers Don't See the Light on Ron Paul
I am appalled at how most of my friends could not be convinced of Ron Paul. I am talking brilliant Baby Boomers. People with advanced degrees. Friends I've known and loved for decades. I am reminded of Harriet Tubman's quote:
"I could have set alot more slaves free, but they didn't know they were slaves!"
Also one of the Rockefeller's said, "Isn't it nice we have so many slaves and THEY DON'T KNOW THEY ARE SLAVES?"
It was an unusual election, to be sure: people were voting because of mutual gender (Hillary), race (Obama), religion (Romney/Huckabee) and even diet (vegan Kuccinich).
BUT THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE I HAD WAS PARTY!!! I had many intelligent, well-educated friends that wouldn't vote for Ron simply because he was a Republican! It is like a religion or something, one's attachment or repulsion to parties.
To those Democrat friends I lost all my patience and replied:
"HERE IS WHAT WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO IF RON IS NOT
ELECTED:
Continued occupation of Iraq and 129 other countries.
The dollar crashing big time, esp. when OPEC refuses it!
All raw food & supplements being illegal, worldwide (CODEX---2009)
Hyperinflation that rivals what Argentina had a few years back
Check points for travel from state to state.
People in concentration camps with no due process.
When all this happens, I will say to all you folks that didn't vote for
Ron, "Well, here we are, with all privacy lost in our 'real id cards,' eating nuked food, living in tents, blowing our noses on dollar bills---but HEY---at least we had a Democrat for president a few years! And wasn't that glorious?"

they'll come around
people need to feel the betrayal and uselessness of their party first. A Republican has had the white house for 8 years, so Democrats think it'll be ok, as long as "our person" gets in. Yeah, that's what Republicans like me thought after 8 years of Clinton. Whoops- turned out the GOP is a big steamy pile of barncarpet, through and through. If hillary or Obama wins, democrats will have their eyes opened, too. That'll at least be the upside. All those democrats can then joins Republicans like me who realized the hard way that political parties are worthless.
The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt
Some folks don't like to cross party lines
I've heard the same thing - They are afraid of the Republican "brand", enough so that they won't for a Republican regardless of the strength of their stated platform and voting record

I used to be repulsed by the Republican party...
Actually I still am. It's because most of its members are conservatives or neo-conservatives.
I only like libertarians who happened to be running off the Republican Party.

Lawson, Santoro, Terbolizard
My personal favorite
is "you are being negative" as if unless it is happy stuff it is not real.
Oh yeah...
I am a total "gloom and doomer." 20 somethings seem to listen. I do think it is interesting who will listen and who won't. And the "non-professional" office workers in my building who work in the cafeteria and the post office, security and regular folks - they are more receptive I have found.
I completely relate
The only way they'll even begin to wake up is to get hit in the pocketbook hard unless something worse happens first. Its the only way - I'm convinced. The more "professional" - the more they don't get it. One of the attorneys in my office just had twins and another one has a 1 year old with another child due in a month. They say not to worry - we just need to get a democrat into office - that'll fix it. Then they go back to discussing the Super Bowl.I am officially in the Twilight Zone and Daily Paul and volunteering is the only reality I have now.
They see the light...
They just want to live in the darkness.
What people consistantly
What people consistantly forget is no matter what we may hope, most decisions are emotional. This has been proven over and over again.
Study the work of any influential leader or any person you knw that has really good people handling skills. The heart rules the mind, period.
People are so easily manipulated because facts don't matter anywhere near as much as feeling good. Mammals are pack animals. They want to belong, have the approval of thier peers and feel the security of community.
Ironic
Isn't it. How many frustrating stories can we tell. I have a dozen or so. It is all just so wild. You say, "people in concentration camps" and you can feel the door sliding shut on their minds. Most people simply don't want to believe where we have come to and where we are going. Illegal to sell a hamburger to an obese person. What? "You aren't going to film in this polling place." What? "You hold three jobs? Isn't that wonderful." What? Strip search a woman with both men and women helping strip her like they have the right to do it and know what they are doing. Disgusting. She was the victim and called for help from the police. Insane. Close our military bases and open them all over the world. These are the LITTLE things. The big things take an entire night to discuss, or longer. It is like people think that if they don't believe you it won't be true and they can go back to their peace of mind. We all want to go back to our peace of mind. But, what we had was a false sense of security. We did not know what was happening. Keeping our heads in our own little world is what got us into this mess.
The same people I went to
The same people I went to school with, the people who while studying Nazi Germany with, would say things like, "How could the soldiers let that happen? How could no one stand up to defeat him?" These same people are falling for the lies and deceit of our gov't. I ask them now, "Why can you not see?"
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Amen
It is so sad
It's happened before
Remember Nazi Germany
