Why hasn't "Official" picked up on this
One of the greatest tools for spreading the message Ron Paul presents is through DVD's. I have grandparents that never heard of Ron Paul and DO NOT or care to have internet access. They don't have a computer nor will they ever. However, the are very faithful voters. They had no idea who Ron Paul was until I showed them footage on my parents computer. Now they are voting for him. I know we have made unofficial DVDs, but they are usually low-quality video rips from the web. The low-quality stuff works to a degree, but it helps breed the idea that somehow his candidacy isn't legit.
I think it would go a long way if official took some high quality video (hopefully they have a library of video like the "Educatiing Rudy" "Iowa Straw Poll" and such) and compiled it into a DVD. Make it open for copy and let the grassroots do the rest. They could even offer the discs as a product in the store. That would be a two fold win. make some of your money back, and allow those of us who make the purchase to use it as we see fit.
I don't see how this could be a bad idea. Especially is it something like Dr. Paul's announcement speech.

New Hope video.
I think thats all that needs to be on the dvd really, lol.

eLiberty is a professional video editor by trade, hence why its so good. He took time out after seeing Ron Paul & his message, and goes - I've got to make a video for him. Should use this video or sure.
316,000 Views for New Hope!
The video mentioned above is RED HOT right now - many people say it moves them to tears. 316,000 views speaks for itself. We would be foolish NOT to use it on every DVD.
cd's work well
My son made me about a hundred cd's of interviews and Dr. Paul's speech to Congress it was very good. I think cd's would work well with the elderly they can sit and listen to it. The cd's are nice because people can listen to them as they drive to and from work. I would like some more but my son moved to NH for a new job.

One Dollar DVD Project
you can get Ron Paul dvds at onedollardvdproject.com, they are a pretty good compilation of interviews, debates, and misc. I got my copy from a friend in my meetup group and have been making lots of copies, they version I have is a little old, like a month but has the first two debates, misc interviews and that really good interview out of new hampshire, the meet the candidates interview or something like that and it covers many of Ron Pauls stand points, don't know if can find online for download, probably, and they may have a newer version out, been a while since I have been to the site.

High Quality Ron Paul DVD
There is a high quality Ron Paul DVD called: Ron Paul: A Man for all Seasons Plus Extras here:
http://isohunt.com/download/26153173/ron+paul+man+for+all+se...
You will need a bit torrent client to download it. Try uTorrent if you don't have one already.
The DVD is very well done and professional looking.
One reason the campaign may
One reason the campaign may not have picked this up is because they are grossly understaffed when compared to other major campaigns.
Also, most popular videos sow clips form TV broadcasts (which help legitimize RP in the eyes of the TV watching audience). The problem there is that it's probably not legal to distribute copywrited TV clips. Nobody will slam a you-tuber for posting something but they're often pulled down. I think there is little doubt that the campaign would be sued if it used TV broadcast clips. Also, who on RPs staff do you think has these wonderful skills? One of the handful of people working for him or several of the horde that supports him online? This is where the grass roots campaign can really step it up, make some good videos and try to distribute them to those who don't you-tube.
All of the ideas have been
All of the ideas have been great. Hopefully the campaign gods are listening.
Anyway, I like the idea of themed DVDs. However, can I suggest two themes.
1) Hope for America - Simple White menu screen with the "official" graphic as the background. All pretty, professional and definately straight forward and geared to the "older" audience.
2) r3VOLution - Black background with the "r3VOLution" logo as background. Harder edged but not over the top with more aggresive video. Kind of like "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Also, business card sized production are a great idea, but do they work well with mechanically fed players? However, the "State of the Union" type address from the man himself is great way to communicate. It gives the video a really intimate feel.
Keep it up guys...

My two thoughts: 1) We need
My two thoughts:
1) We need very presidential footage of Ron Paul. 30 and 60 second clips with a script, and him seated at a large desk in front of a library or oval-office looking set. Think Address To The Nation sort of scene. The clips should start out like "I am Ron Paul, and I am asking for your vote for President of the United States." Then go into a quick overview of his platform (maybe do a few to emphasize different appeals for different audiences). This would go a long way to convincing the average person that he's for real, that he is presidential material. Imagine what the grassroots could do with that!
2) Business card DVDs could be good for handing out to people. They're small so people will be more likely to take one. They're intriguing because people will think "Really? That's a movie? I can play it in my DVD player?", and they will try it out for the novelty of it. I believe they can hold about 8 or 10 minutes of high quality video, which is more than enough time to spark an interest, and as much time as we can expect to get from a casual voter.
State of the Union!
I love this idea, and it should be packaged as Ron Paul's own State of the Union address. Man, would THAT be an eye-opener!
Cheap DVD's
DVD's are one of the keys.......I suggest several types........
The Ron Paul girl can be shown to Grandpa while Granny is out shopping.
Another DVD for the old folks together........about fiscal conservatism, minding our own business, etc.
Another DVD about gun rights for the guy that hunts but lives so far from "town" that the internet doesn't run his way........
etc...etc.....
Mr. R.
might i also suggest
having the ron paulie girl do the narration. shes easy on the eyes and speaks very clearly and inteligently. shes smart, oh and did i say shes hot? oh yeah. anyways i think this dvd should be narrated like a documentary style video. not just slapping videos together. alot of news clips are really positive but they always start with "he shows low on the polls" we need a narrator to point out how the media puts a spin on positive things to sway the people to not waste thier vote on him. when people see that he came in third in texas straw poll they need to know why he didnt win in his home state.we know why but others dont.we need a narrarator to show that ron paul has a very good chance to win and then show a bunch of clips with crowds of people shouting RON PAUL!. the bottom line is we need a narrarator! and shes got my vote!
High Quality Footage
Where would one acquire high quality versions of the broadcasted debates and interviews? I make DVDs professionally and could make a really, really nice RP DVD for public distribution. I've downloaded a few RP DVDs via torrent and while they are a great effort, I think with a little polish and better source footage we could REALLY sell RP to the unknowing masses. If anyone has ideas that don't include transcoding a YouTube clip, I'm all ears.
not the best
I've recieved two different versions of supporter produced DVDs. Don't get me wrong... They do the job to a certain extent. However, I assume the campaign would have higher quality versions of good material. I also assume they have a relatively tech savvy staff that can edit video. All I'm looking for is something more like a professional quality production.
If it were me I structure it with...
One user generated video intro. (Like previews show before you get to the menu. Ex. A New Hope, Stop Dreaming, Don't Tread On Me, When In The Course, etc. All good and captivating videos. This could involve a supporter vote via website w/ graphic.)
A real menu of selected footage. (Debates, Announcement Speech, Issues...)
It would make the campaign a little more interactive by allowing perspective voters to choose what topics they wan't to hear talked about. Added bonus, its cool beacause no one else is doing it.

Beyond pro quality
I really think that you can get more mileage from a crappy quality DVD that the viewer thinks is an honest, true, and impassioned plea from a Ron Paul supporter than you can get from a slick, professionally produced DVD directly from the campaign (since people are naturally skeptical about what they get from politicians).
Apologize up front for cobbling together YouTube videos, but talk about how excited these videos made you, and how much you wanted to share the hope and the energy of this grassroots movement.
That approach will work many times better than the slick sort of presentation people have become accustomed to (and skeptical of)!
You guys are heroes.
Man, that is the best idea of how to break the mainstream media blackout I have heard yet.
I'm from Canada, but what's going on in America right now is bad for us too and I know it. I tried to donate but the RP site won't take money from Canadians even though many of the other candidates probably take money from international corporations.
Anyway, I'm with you guys 110%
CANADA FOR RON PAUL!!!
download
The download ronpaulrax mentioned is just a video of the guy selling his dvd. It is not available for download. I downloaded it and it is just the video he has on the site advertizing his dvd. The video itself is 3 hours and 33 minutes long.
If you have the ability to produce dvd's, I encourage you to choose some from my site that are downloadable in wmv file and you can pick the ones that you like and make a half hour or hour long dvd. I have made a few and I have used a couple of interviews with a couple of the music ones in between the interviews and added some debate ones.
If you do make a dvd and are not interested in a return on your investment, let me know and I will place it on my site for easy download that others can reproduce on their own. Thanks.

why not tell youtube
why not post a video to all youtubers who have made a video and have them mail you or the campaign a copy of the original high quality version and have a contest with many winners . the winners will have the honor of getting their clip put on the dvd and recieve an autographed copy from the man himself.
That's a neat idea
that could be very popular and successful.

Are the ones here not "high quality?"
I haven't seen them, so I don't know.
I was thinking of doing the thing above, but if
they look cheap, maybe I'll wait until there's another
option.
I'm downloading now...
I'm downloading the DVD image from RonPaulDVD.com now. I work at an ad agency and we've got a DVD duplicator that I can run all night long. The screenshots of the DVD look pretty good but we'll see. I hope it has this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA included...but I doubt it.
Anyway, I'll let you know how the DVD is. If it is good quality then we're set. Just download the DVD image, burn it to DVD, slap a sticker on it, and start handing them out. As cheap as blank DVDs are now these should accompany ANY Ron Paul literature someone hands out.
The only barrier might people not knowing how to download and burn their own DVD's right from the site.

Wonderful idea. I was thinking of this too!
It's not that hard to make some.
I posted on another thread my link http://www.wolfdenwest.com/election.htm
where some of the better videos have been converted and they are pretty good. Just burn some onto a cd and hand it out.
I like putting a couple of the ones on issues mixed in with a couple of the music ones and it turns out pretty well.
Fantastic idea! Can we get it on Netflix?
This is a great concept! A professional high-quality DVD could be organized like an entertainment movie DVD with a short "main feature" as well as "special feature" categories that people could click on to learn more about Dr. Paul's core beliefs, biographical info, specific positions, debate answers, grassroot organizing...the list goes on. There's tons of material that has already been created, the official campaign could easily edit pieces together into an easily distributed package that would deliver a clear consistent marketing message.
Now just suppose such a DVD was produced and made commercially available...and the grassroots en masse requested it in their Netflix queues, creating a demand. Once copies were in this conventional channel, we could grassroots promote it to stir up interest and education of new supporters. This promotion could be both on the web and off (for example, signs at walks / rallies could say "Check out the "Ron Paul Story" on Netflix!")
excellent idea
Do them in the way that Aaron Russo did his dvd. buy 1 for 20.00 but if you buy 100 you get them for 1.00 apiece! then be able to hand them out to family ,friends and strangers!
very good idea!

Perhaps this should go in the "Paul Mall"
Perhaps this should go in the "Paul Mall". Any video editors out there?
I can put one together
I could put a decent dvd together. I'm not great with the fancy editing, but I've got a mac with all the software. My idea was to put together a 30 minute feature (put together some of the really good youtube videos) that would grab anyones attention without boring them. Then I would set up a section with his stance on particular issues. That way people could scroll to the ones that appeal to them.
Please give me ideas people, which videos should I use and which issues should I cover? I'll get right on it.
