Lessons from history -- The Bulletproof George Washington

In 1755 (when the colonies were still British) General Braddock was sent from England to take Fort Duquesne from the French (French and Indian War). As someone familiar with the terrain, and having made a name for himself as a soldier, George Washington was enlisted to join the expedition. General Braddock was the epitome of the British army and thought little of the organization or advice from colonists, including the tactics necessary to successfully fight Indians in the forests.

Just a few miles from Fort Duquesne, Braddock's army marched straight into a trap. Nearly 900 French soldiers and Indians had been hiding in the woods to attack. The soldiers scattered, the General and his aides were all shot down with the exception of George Washington who frantically tried to maintain order from the chaos of the British ranks.

Fifteen years later, again travelling in the Ohio region, Washington was met by an aged Indian chief. In their meeting, this was the story related to Washington by the chief:

"It was on the day when the white man's blood mixed with the streams of our forest that I first beheld this chief (Washington). I called to my young men and said, Mark yon tall and daring warrior? He is not of the red-coat tribe - he hath an Indian's wisdom, and his warriors fight as we do - himself is alone exposed. Quick, let your aim be certain, and he dies. Our rifles were levelled, rifles which but for him knew not how to miss - 'twas all in vain; a power mightier far than we shielded him from harm. He cannot die in battle.
I am old, and soon shall be gathered to the great council fire of my fathers in the land of shades; but ere I go there is something bids me speak in the voice of prophecy. Listen! The Great Spirit protects that man, and guides his destinies- he will become the chief of nations, and a people yet unborn will hail him as the founder of a mighty empire!"

As proof of this, during the battle mentioned previously, George Washington had two horses shot out from under him, a bullet rushed through his hat, and three others passed through his coat. (He was also suffering from a debilitating illness which had lasted nearly a month.)

For those of you who are still reading this long post, I want to draw the connection more clearly. As we have seen, we are not fighting a traditional war. Those we are fighting among (the Republicans) do not see the need to change their tactics and directions so they will not be swept off the battle field by the waiting opponents. The only one running from any party who has shown himself politically "bulletproof" is our Dr. Paul. His consistent integrity over a long period in public service means that he is not vulnerable to character attacks or a scrutiny of his voting record. He is someone we can confidently follow into this battle for our freedom. Keep up the good work, fellow soldiers. Just as

“Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality”
