Does McCain Get Romney's Delagates Now?

Someone please explain where all the delegates Romney gained on Super Tuesday will go? Do they automatically go to McCain since Romney endorsed him?

They will go to McCain

I believe the GOP will decide where the delegates go in most states.

Only in the non-bound delegate states (Colorado, Washington, ?) will Romney delegates be able to vote for Paul.

This changes nothing, it hurts the chance of a brokered convention. Romney quit because there is not that many non-bound delegates that'd vote for him and all the superdelegates (representing 40%) are voting for McCain.

Correct me if I'm wrong please...

they are still his until he releases them

I copied this from

When an individual formally releases delegates already pledged to him or her - a withdrawing candidate must specifically free his/her own delegates to vote for whomever they might choose during the Convention - it is not a requirement for those delegates to vote for another candidate who is endorsed by the withdrawing candidate.

However, history has demonstrated that most, if not all, delegates pledged to a candidate who has released them will follow that candidate's lead and vote for the candidate he/she has endorsed. Nevertheless, a withdrawing candidate may not release delegates pledged to him/her so long as the presidential nomination is still undetermined (after all, these delegates can be a valuable bargaining chip for future considerations). Even where a nomination is already determined, a presidential candidate who represents the Party fringe might hold onto his delegates as long as possible in order to get concessions.

In my opinion, this is a great thing because all the delegates now have another 7 months to learn about Ron Paul. As long as they knew Romney was their guy, they weren't looking for another choice. Now that the delegates know he won't win, they may keep their options open. Between the war and the economy we don't know what America will be like in September. All we have to do is keep in the race. We are in a marathon, not a sprint.

No...

.. but if Romney is ever truly out of the race his delegates are free to vote in the convention for whichever candidate they choose. They would be free to vote for Ron Paul.

The Mormon Church has been teaching admiration and reverence for the Constitution and for the Founding Fathers since the beginning of their church. In this way they are natural potential allies of Dr. Paul's philosophies.

A big welcome to all our new Mormon compatriots in the cause of Liberty!

Thanks

for your reply. It looks like Romney has officially announced the end of his presidential campaign so hopefully those deeply instilled values of Mormon Church will come into play for Ron Paul now. We welcome all former Romney supporters with open hearts.
