Which just goes to show that you can have huge (multi country) covert terror operations that go on for decades unbeknownst to the American public. Providing a link to this book (a bit expensive, sorry) so you can give up your Tom Clancy novels. Oh, and most of the European governments like the US government pretend that much of Gladio never even happened.

This is not tin-foil hat stuff. USMC General Smedley Butler, decorated with two Medal of Honors, and author of the classic essay, "War is a Racket" was recruited to lead the coup by these guys. He instead informed Washington of the plot. AND WASHINGTON DID NOTHING!

Elements of this have already been used
Blowing up a U.S. ship in Guantánamo Bay and blaming it on Cuba (reminiscent of the destruction of the USS Maine at Havana in 1898, which helped to precipitate the Spanish-American War). The document's first suggestion regarding the sinking of a U.S. ship is to blow up a ship at sea and hence would result in U.S. Navy members being killed, with a secondary suggestion of possibly using an unmanned ship and fake funerals instead. (Gulf of Tonkin)
Destroying an unmanned drone masquerading as a commercial aircraft supposedly full of "college students off on a holiday". This proposal was the one supported by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (x4 on 9/11)

and confirmed what I had just figured out by taking a hypnosis class. It is why we all feel like - and actually often say - we "wake up" to Ron Paul. We have literally shaken off a hypnotic state, deliberately maintained. It is also why people don't just "get it." They have post-hypnotic suggestions to reply with "nut-case" or "conspiracy theorist" or whatever it takes to protect their concept of reality. They have begun to implant the idea of "domestic terrorist" into our society, and that is what creeps me out in the middle of the night. I threaten who how when I say "constitution?"

Bernays was one of the first to attempt to manipulate public opinion using the psychology of the subconscious.
He felt this manipulation was necessary in society, which he regarded as irrational and dangerous as a result of the 'herd instinct' that Trotter had described.

Bernays was a disturbed man.
He felt at ease justifying his own work by saying that "since it could be used for war, why not peace?"
Might I add? This is an example of justifying "the means", what ever they may be, because of one's intended out come, "the ends." However, students of moral philosophy tend to agree; The ends can NOT be pointed to to justify the means... even if your idea of "ends" ends with rainbows and butterflies.
If deception and especially untimely death is a part of your tool bag, than deception and especially untimely death is what you'll get.
A neo-con was once reported as saying,"some day, they'll sing songs about us around the camp fire." It's assumed, that he must have envisioned a future folklore where he played a hero's part to be heralded and upheld. Certainly, he wasn't imagining that song actually would be written, and sung about him, as people lifted glasses, toasted, and heralded the warming fire around a poll he was tied to. No no... he was thinking of something else.

The means are the ends. You cannot separate the two. Life is the means. Life is the ends. People who try to subvert this reality with rhetoric usually end up going crazy and doing lots of weird stuff (see GWB, Clinton, McCain etc.)
