A very simple step by step process to convert people to our side!!!
Submitted by ronpaulisouronlyhope on Fri, 02/08/2008 - 16:35Fellow Paulites,
This is something that a friend of mine came up with, I can take none of the credit for it. It is in my humble opinion, one of the simplest, well laid out plans to convert people into Paulites!!!
Remember this:
1. People don't like being preached at.
2. People don't like being told they are wrong.
3. People hate political commercials.
With the right approach, McCain supporters are just as easy to convert as Romney supporters.
We need to be sypathetic.
Agree with McCain positions on meaningless issues. Then approach a position that will concern the supporter. (Something that appeals to their human nature maybe.) Then offer the common sense Ron Paul solution to the particular issue you choose to use.
The absolute key to this approach, is to make sure the new Paul supporter will be able to convert others.
This style of approach will work on anyone, Democrat, or Republican. (Remember, preaching does not work!)
Try it out!!!

I tend to agree
Pushing your beliefs on others makes them defensive.
Face it - you can usually find something to like about everyone
Most people do not know the issues facing us today - I didn't until I began to do a little research myself after finding Dr. Paul
Do not be the "all knowing" because let's face it - none of us are.
This is about our Country - not about your views of what's right and wrong.
Guide them to look at Dr. Paul's ideas and where he stands on the issues and they will always choose what is best for America. I believe we all feel the same way about our Country when it boils down to it.
Politics has become a "WE WON" scenario - not about the issues. It is time to wake your friends and families up to Dr. Paul, but do not push your beliefs on them. They are smart enough to see it theirselves and will thank your for the guidance - but will feel that THEY made the decision.
My 2 cents . . .
its called
jiu jitsu, it works.
after introduction, i typically ask "what are your top two issues concerning our nation?"
bam, spell out paul's positions without mentioning his name and your off into a deep conversation. after the hook is set, you just have to tug a little.
at this point they usually share with you the candidate they support, if any, deeply. i usually complement their candidate any way i can muster and then challenge them to look at paul's record vs. their candidates'.
i by-pass this technique with strong supporters of opponents.
leave slim jim...move on. can't tell you how many i've converted this way. i'm not boasting...this information was gleaned by watching a meetup organizer in WA State, I believe. Its on youtube and awesome.

another example
When people say they support the war, ask if they agree Congress should be the ones to declare war. Also, most people agree that our soldiers can protect us best when they are stationed here in the event that our country were actually attacked..
Talk to people about the high cost of gasoline,
everyone can relate to that. Tell them that the price of oil, which is a big component of gasoline prices, has not changed in value since 2000 compared to the price of gold, but has increased from $27/barrel in 2000 to $92/barrel now and that if the dollar hadn't been devalued so much by the government's deficit spending and the Federal Reserve printing money, the price at the pump now wouldn't be much higher than it was in 2000. Then tell them that Ron Paul is the only candidate that has a workable economic plan to get the out of control Federal spending under control.

I would reply but I'm not sure I get it...
Could you offer an example?

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.
Sure
While you are talking about McCain, say some thing like, "You know, I liked McCain until I found out that he wants to grant amnesty to up to 20 million illegal aliens." Maybe the person you are talking to knows this, but maybe they don't. (Sheeple don't have much information.) When they respond with shock, " Really, he wants to do that?" You respond by telling them how securing our nations borders, is one of Ron Paul's first priorities if elected, and offering amnesty to illegals seems like a pretty big reward for breaking our countrys laws. Bam, that is all it takes and they want to know more.

it works
I used this technique a couple weeks ago with a doctor. He made a comment about the airport security and the difficulties. I said that is why you need to vote for Ron Paul. We had a discussion about RP would handle airline security. He wasn't quite convinced. It turns out that he went to do some research and has become a RP supporter. I don't know how much he invested, but he invested.
Come on!!!
Come on guys, give me at least ONE comment before this gets burried. Lol!
