Romney will be back - the old Coke vs new Coke marketing ploy UPDATE

I was thinking why Romney just suspended his campaign rather than just quit it - some idiots would say he is trying to get contributions to pay himself back - I don't think people are going to contribute to a campaign that has ended.

Actually I think its the old Coke vs New Coke marketing ploy that was used to boost Coke sales.

You take Romney out - so all the attention goes on McCain and his liberal record - day after day people will point out how he is not Pro Life, how he is anti-gun etc etc and demand that he reenter the race. There are two races tomorrow, that won't matter in the long run if Romney steps back in -

He's almost BROKE...

He donated ("loaned") over $36 Million through the end of the year. He spent major money in Michigan, reportedly spent $30 M on Florida and God only knows how much on Feb 5th.

Probably sank close to $100 Million (about half of his total net worth) on the campaign (the 1st Qtr FEC's will be very interesting to read in mid-April).

I doubt not that the wifey and 5 sons were having conniption fits over the thought of being paupers again if he kept going. (They REALLY wanted to be "royalty" -- it would have paid TONS of dividends were he even nominated, much less elected... but unless you're crazy, you don't put EVERYTHING down on one hand of blackjack).

He's done and out... now he has to try to figure a way to leverage what little he has left to do some deals to get the old wallet back in shape again.

Perot could've won, but his hope was lost when he tried to dip out and then come back. Romney is shooting for VP, and eventually the presidency.

Romney is saying to everyone, okay do you really want McCain, all the talk radio shows and conservatives are in a fit - its a tactic for people to beg for him to come back and say - "Conservatives are upset and want me to continue my run therefore I will start my run back up"

I still think it will be a brokered convention, and I am not too sure why people assume Romney votes will go to McCain - I think they are totally wrong on that front. I think Huckabee and Paul will get a majority of those votes. McCain still has to win nearly every remaining state for this not to be a brokered convention - I don't think he can do it.
