The goal of the Meet up is two fold, to elect Dr.Paul and other like minded Candidates to public office. Then whether we succeed or not, to infiltrate and gain power within the GOP power structure. This way we can stop the establishment bias against Pro-America candidates.

Can't change it? No, I think we still can. The neocons did it, and the rules of the game aren't all that different from when they staged THEIR takeover.

We've got what we need: An set of ideas that can inspire people into political action. An example to show that an honest, freedom-promoting politician CAN succeed in congress, a literal ARMY of people who are willing to get out and work for it, a communications medium that has enabled us to contact each other, remain in touch, exchange ideas, and develop redundant connections to supplement it, and (most importantly) a "schelling point" - a shared understanding of what to do and when where, and how to do it.

That "army" is extremely important: The Ron Paul meetup group members and waiting list now total just about 3/4 (73.5%) of the US troop strength in Iraq. A political party's internal organization and function is very much like a meetup group - a handfull of people in each area getting together occasionaly to plan and execute projects (and recruit others to their way of thinking and acting). While those areready in power slots have more say per-head than the rank-and-file, the latter are the real power in the party. By attending party meetings and working on party projects we can warp it to be something more like what it is supposed to be.

The bulk of the freedom-lovers have avoided politics lately because they've been convinced that they can't make a difference and would just be abused for no purpose. Ron Paul's example shows that they CAN succeed and CAN make a difference - at least so far in one election. Now that "Ron Paul has cured our apathy" by showing that the revolution was not a one-shot in the 18th century, it's possible for a flood of them will be inspired to take up the torch, continue (and expand) beyond this campaign, and again make this a freedom-promting rather than a freedom-destroying government. If this great cause has even a hope of succeeding, they can take any abuse they receive along the way as a sign of success and a badge of honor.

As for the media: The transparent bias and suppression of news has both left an opening for a third news network and accellerated the shift from broadcast and print news media to the internet. Meanwhile, word-of-mouth alone is enough to continue to propagate the message of freedom (just maybe not in time to swing THIS nomination). That dog won't hunt again.

Since the revolution a few in every generation have kept the dream alive. But now we have a generation of people where a rapidly growing number understand it, have the will to embrace it, and a do-or-die incentive to run with it. This could become the defining issue of their time.

So it seems to me that the time is ripe for warping the Grand Old Party until it lives up to its promises. That looks possible now, with just a few years of effort. Then, if that proves IMpossible, the experience of trying will have brought in more valuable converts (of ALL living generations) and provided valuable training and experience for future moves. (A great set of schelling points for moving on would be the next couple presidential elections: 2012 if we don't get our candidate nominated, 2016 if we don't take the whitehouse.)

Converts, by the way, are important: By forming a significant power block withing the GOP we would be in a position to convert members of other factions to our way of thinking and provide moral support if they decide it's correct. Many of these people already believe most of the same things we do. With exposure to the rest of the ideas some will also see the light. And they WILL talk to us: They'll want to find out how to get all that money and effort working for them: What will they do when they see the only way to get it is to REALLY work for freedom?

(But one of the greatest aspects of freedom is that there is no need to stick to just ONE approach. I happen to think the GOP can be turned, after which it will be a powerful tool for freedom. If a lot of like-minded people make the attempt, that's great. But there's no reason that people with OTHER good ideas shouldn't get together and run other projects in parallel. All it takes is for one to succeed - while a bunch of them coming at the power structure from all directions and reenforcing each other will be more effective than a single move that can be attacked with their full force.)

Don't boycott. At least make sure that you help retain the right to vote by writing in Ron Paul. Your vote couldn't go to a better place, much better than not voting at all. There will be a point when the turnout for voting is so small that it will be ignored and we'll lose the right to vote. We're so close to that now.

I implore you! Write in Dr. Paul!!!

We don't have to march in lockstep behind Dr. Paul. And there are several reasons not to. For instance:

- If we all do the same thing we can all be stopped by the same move. Redundancy lets us try many things and take advantage of those that work.

- Ron Paul won't always be with us. We must learn how to think for ourselves - or at least develop an/or identify others who think along the same lines and have solutions leading to the same goals and by acceptable paths. (The Mises Institute - with which Ron Paul has close ties - is a good place to start looking.) Otherwise the revolution ends with him, rather than continuing into the indefinite future.

- In particular: If all we're doing is follow Ron, all THEY have to do is eliminate him. Then we're headless. With a host of thinkers all eliminating Ron would do is make the rest of us less predictable. In the ideal limit, with us all thinking for ourselves and organizing as convenient, eliminating Ron or ANY of us just removes one warm body - they'd have to kill us off faster than we recruit. With no concentrated authority there's nobody to surrender.,

Ron has been an inspiration: Showing us solutions and that they can work, exposing the holes in the arguments against freedom. Making of himself an example of how to live and battle for these ideals. But the movement has already done far more than he could have commanded it to do, or even considered and approved.

And that's what he WANTS to happen.

And that's what he's TOLD us is happening.

And that's what he's TOLD us to DO.

If you really want to follow the Good Doctor's orders, start thinking for yourself, doing things for yourself, and organizing with other like-minded people, voluntarily, to do the things you can't do by yourself, or more of those things that you can. And along the way, teach THEM to think and do for themselves as well.

Then you'll make him proud - as you would ANY good parent or teacher. And you;'ll make his legacy last far beyond his own participation.

I don't believe you understand the intent of my post.

It is a call to arms, that no mtter what happens, we should not stop fighting. the establishment will be over run with us if we so choose but, we need to choose. We must choose to do something, that will not endanger our lives, will not cost us our freeoms, or even cost great sums of money. we need to choose to be active in our political process for more than 1 year, we must become the GOP, so as to eliminate the unfair and biased practices against fellow Americcan's.

We must choose to continue to promote the principles and ideals that the Dr. Paul has put forward.

Finally, we must stop having Dr. Paul wage the battle for us, we must pick up our proverbial arms and fight to change the culture of Global Welfare within the GOP.

This is not giving up, this is a call to arms!
