Washington State Holla back!!!

1st to my precint I secured the envelope. Total number of participants in my precinct? 4. Number if delegates/alternates selected 1/1. Success confirmed.

Side note: 1 McCain supporter had a precint to himself. 1 Paul support had a precinct to himself. Another was split, 2 McCain, 1 Paul, 1 undecided. I'm still not sure how this turned out. Out of the 10 precincts assigned to my table, 4 precincts participated. The GOP had stated that in 2004 about 50 people showed up. This time around, about 400 people showed up.

First Posting from WA

Well, after lurking for some time, I finally broke down and registered after getting back from our caucus.

I live in the 33rd District where we had 329 people show up. Apparently this was the first time they had their caucus in this location (high school) rather than in homes. Meeting started a bit late as there were a number of people still waiting at the door to get in. Attendance was greater than expected because the District Chairman mentioned that they had enough
materials for 300 people and had to run down to Kinko's to make more copies.

They did not check IDs at the door, which was a surprise. Apparently this caucus, perhaps due to where it had normally been held, was more of a "meet your neighbor" type of event. I was told that at the District level, IDs are checked and they do adhere to the schedule or they count it against delegates who arrive late.

When it came time to vote for delegates, there were 9 people present in our precinct: 4 McCain supporters, 4 Paul and 1 Huckabee. A couple of people arrived later, but they did not vote for delegates. The PCO asked for volunteers and my wife and I and a neighbor all volunteered. The more seasoned McCain supporters said, "let the young people (us) do it." We just wrote our names down on the list and that was it. Three McCain supporters and the Huckabee supporter were listed as alternates to the District convention.

Before I left, one of the party organizers asked if I was a Ron Paul supporter. I said I was and he asked me to help count the votes after everyone left. I hung around and helped sort the attendance sheets, which were used to count the votes, platform surveys and delegate sheets. From what I could tell on that end of things, everything seemed on the up and up. The person in charge of tallying the votes did so in the open with several people helping and rechecking the vote tallies.

He did make an interesting comment about expecting some kind of
disturbance/trouble from the Ron Paul supporters who spend all of
their time on the computer. In fairness, he did commend us for our
good behavior and the fact that nothing of what he had feared did happen. In fact, there were 3 RP supporters helping at the end and one of our number said he understood what he meant and kind of sympathized with him and helped to allay his fears. I think a more realistic and positive impression was made.

Final results from the 33rd District Poll:
McCain 125
Huckabee 87
Paul 51
Romney 41
Thompson 2
Undecided 23

I've been hearing good things about the number of Ron Paul delegates selected so I think we got more than our share to move on to the next level.

Great work

Good PR for RP. Love to see the good will you all showed up and over there.

Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?

Small Town (Ridgefield) WA in Clark County

6 Precincts pooled: Straw Poll--Huckabee 26, Paul 15, McCain 15, Romney 12....of note, many Romney supporters were there (I talked with several) and the Romney camp has told his supporters to continue to caucus/vote for him at least in WA---interesting, huh! They were adament: "he didn't drop out, he 'suspended' the campaign" was the mantra......

Anyway, in my precinct, I was the only RP supporter, there were 5 delegate spots and only 5 folks were interested (I think several will probably not show up to county, though)....there were 2 Romney, 2 undisclosed (suspect 1 more Romney, 1 Huckabee) and myself....the other precints did a little better. I ended up as chairman, thus got to take home the list of other delegates....I'll be able to hit up the others by phone near the county convention this way!

Interesting side note, at my precinct, the Romney supporters were talking a lot about vote fraud! We'll see if we can steal a few votes for RP at my county by locking into the Romney crowd maybe!?!

Funny How on CNN

there is no reporting graphic set up for the WA caucaus held today. They only have the primary graphic set up for the 19th.

If they do not show it then it must be good for Paul!!
Looks like the WA caucus is going to join the ranks of the Louisiana and Maine Caucaus.

Seattle

I'm a delegate, only other in my precinct was a Romney supporter.
Community center, about 100 people, had to open a wall to make more room.

Two guys I talked to ... one said he thinks we were 2/3 RP supporters at the caucus inside, the other said maybe up to 1/2. The only yard signs I have seen around Seattle are Ron Paul and Obama, nobody else, period.

Get this ... National ABC news was there, they cut live, sorry I don't recall the correspondent's name. Watched that happen. He only talked about mccain and huckabee.

I caught up with the correspondent when they were done, asked if I could give him some reading material, he pleasantly said yes, and accepted one of those big fancy well-done RP brochures from me, and thanked me.

I was first person there and last to leave. For awhile, no one was guarding the ballots, except me. Eerie. I took a picture.

Washington State......

Oops 26-214

Meant three delegates for McCain, two for Huckabee and one for RP (me)

When do the the

Results expect to start officially coming in?

26-214 Cross post from WA

26 had a pooled caucus, the cafeteria had about three times the number of folks they were expecting. My caucus (214) had thirty three people. 11 for RP, 11 for McCain, six for Huckabee, three Undecided, and two for Mitt Romney.
Delegate wise, not so good, 2 Huckabee, 3 McCain (one was the PCO), 3 for Huckabee, and one for RP (me). On the bright side three of the Alternates are RP supporters.

Cliff (start a rEVOLution)

Precenct 109

Of 5, 2 for Dr Paul, 1 for mccain, 2 undecided, 1 undecided will go for Dr Paul now we gave him a pocket Constitution and Dr Paul info. Washington is Dr Paul land. And I am a delegate.

I am a RON PAUL DELEGATE!!! 3 people (inlcuding myself) showed up from my precinct, and I am the delegate. One Romney supporter, one McCain supporter and myself. BOO-YAH! Needless to say, I am incredibly stoked.

This was at a pooled caucus, the largest in King County, and by my estimate, Ron Paul supporters had the highest turnout of all.

WE VERY WELL MAY WIN WASHINGTON STATE! I knew this was possible, and if my experience is anything like others', we're in good shape here.

btw-the elected PCO in my precinct did not show.
I talked with some other RP supporters who are their precinct delegates as well. King County convention is April 12. Onward!
