*What's Happening Here?*

Hello there. This will be my first, and probably only post here on the Daily Paul, but I beg of you to read it and hopefully come together with me in support of the good doctor.

I'm 18 years old and live in the middle of Illinois, a town called Macomb to be exact. I joined this campaign looking for a new source of politics instead of the old masking made by other politicians. I have only really lived through two presidents, Clinton and Bush, Jr. I am a County Coordinator for a number of Counties in my area and made sure that Ron Paul at least got mentioned to a number of ill-informed, damn near ignored downstate Illinois residents.

I simply have one question for everyone on this site? What the hell is happening to this campaign? Don't take this as negativity because we are still going strong, but the way that a lot of us are talking, we are on the verge of imploding our own existence. Everyone on these threads must realize that they are in the presence of about 300 other brilliant like minded individuals being led by a brilliant man.

What I am asking for is not to merely be led as a sheep during this campaign. I am asking for it to be like it was. We are NOT banding together right now as we should. We all attack one another on her constantly. Instead of surging forward, we remain stagnant and quarrel amongst ourselves about meaningless objectives and entities in the political process.

Now, open discussion is important to the political process, but we are dissenting so much within ourselves that we are on the verge of tearing this beautiful and tearful revolution apart. As I write this, there are moneybombs going on to my right for Third Party Candidacies and an email bomb for the campaign headquarters. If we attack ourselves, then who my friends and companions do we have to rely on?

Today on msnbc.com, the top story was about Ron Paul not launching a Third Party Candidacy. It is the only press coverage we have received from MSNBC in ages, and this seems to be the way we respond.

I do not wish to tell all of you veteran posters what to do because you run this place. I don't want to run anyone's life, but if we can't work together to make this campaign work, well then dammit it WILL NOT WORK. But it will work if we quit the quarreling internally. It amazes me that because of a little media blackout and some hard times, we start going at each others throat instead of working together.

I come to all of the Paulistas, as we have generally been dubbed, and ask that we reunite, because as I can tell from discussions on here, we are not. And before I am regarded as a troll or whatever the lingo is, keep in mind that I will gladly give my phone number to anyone. I have donated to the campaign, and I bought a $100 poster from this site to keep it running (here is an example of us crumbling, we must show credentials in posts). We Ron Paul supporters have the strongest foundation beneath us and we mustn't let ourselves be disassembled by ourselves.

So brethren, you may chastise me and go about the ways that this forum is going, but I beg that we keep our cause together. Only together may we succeed, and only together may this Revolution reach on and on into new generations. So long and farewell.

I wish I was as wise as you

when I was your age. Keep up the fight. I believe that the internal debates are good for the whole campaign. This way we ferret out the best ideas. People think we are imploding. I disagree. We are developing a campaign in real time. It is one of the greatest things I have ever been part of. Being part of a community that is accepting the best and leaving the not so good is so exciting and important. Don't knock the negative because I believe it is actually people playing the "Devil's Advocate" and this is extremely important to the process. May peace by with you all.

I agree!

People don't know that posting negativity goes viral. They have so much power and fail to use it for the positive. I have tried to teach them how to craft posts so that RP's name is spread around even more and better.

Bump

This is why the Libertarians can not get anything done. It is like herding cats. Great Post!

Set the example, brother

You believe in truth..

Everyone you know will want to know about it too.

Unify

Thank you Seth for your thoughtful post and sorry if we've given

Thank you Seth for your thoughtful post and sorry if we've given a bad/wrong impression. RP supporters I dare say come in all shapes and sizes and flavors. The one uniting fact is that we all realize the downward spiral this country is in.

So heads will butt up against each other from time to time. I think for the most part that is what you are seeing. On the other hand, people who for WHATEVER reason choose to STOP supporting Ron Paul - those people, yes, you are correct, they DO need to get their act together.

My Two Cents' Worth

Seth:

You write a good letter and raise many good points and questions. Since you are new to this, as are many, I want to reassure you that the campaign is just fine, despite appearances to the contrary. That Ron Paul has done so well, he is - like the proverbial tortoise - moving steadily forward. It is 7 months until the convention and much will happen between then and now. The stalwarts of the campaign and of Daily Paul do not flinch or quarrel. You can click on anyone's name and see how long they have been on board. Those with 20 weeks or more are the guts of this site and continue to carry the flag for RP.

As we have seen, there are many who are faint-of-heart; who will leap to a negative conclusion because of what they think they see in the media or even here. A call for a 3rd party run is one; others simply give up and go back to their other work. All of this is like the new Army recruits who turn tail and run at the first volley of gunfire. This campaign is for the strong, and it sounds as though you are plenty strong.

Ignore the bickering, or flag it, or drop a note to Michael Nystrom. He's a good guy. So is Jane Aitken, so are many others. We don't bicker; we have work to do. I am sure you have attended parties where the rowdies came in to make trouble, and the peaceful folks just kept to themselves. That is the course to take. Stay peaceful, focused and work for the campaign. As I said, much will happen in the next 7 months. Not all of it will be pleasant, but much of it will be. Don't flinch, stay on point and ignore the rowdies. Ron Paul's campaign is doing fine. Honest.

I've already started.

=p

I'm not sure what the rest of the fleet is doing, but my tribe is getting things "ship shaped" if you will.

Thank you everyone who has

Thank you everyone who has posted positive feedback. This is the kind of community we need to run. I had expected to receive some backlash on here but I just might stay if people start acting like this is a site dedicated to the principles of this campaign rather than a tabloid site.

If anyone would like to get ahold of me as some have expressed interest in, my email is seth.richardson07@gmail.com.

Also, you must not forget.....

That this site is an anonymous site like most chat rooms are on the internet.
Think about that for a second. Do you know how easy it is to cast aspersions, and subvert a movement from within when the only criteria is that you register with an email address a fabricated screen name and made up password! So many of us are so passionate about our support for this REVOLUTION and Dr. Ron Paul that anytime we see a post that is negative we assume it is a prior or current supporter of Ron Paul that has gone bad or is unfocused or whatever word you decide to use to describe the comments or actions that are so disagreeable. I would have to guess that there are many more saboteur's than we may be aware of.
How easy it would be to make a comment that sounded as though I was a supporter who has lost hope, or is just overly aggressive and ugly, or I could be disparaging to others with positive comments etc. etc. Does any of this sound familiar? I venture to say it does, I'm guilty as charged myself, as I may have commented back a time or two after reading something distasteful.
I still get frustrated sometimes and get caught up with some of the posts in here, but I have decided to imagine that everything I hear that seems to go against what we are trying to accomplish with this movement are simply saboteur's trying to destroy our momentum. I don't comment back because I understand that this is what they desire in order to distract our attention from doing the more positive and vitally important grass root activities like canvassing or becoming a precinct leader. But it is human nature and is especially a uniquely American trait to not take shit from anyone or back down from a challenge so we get preoccupied with juvenile prideful banter when we should be ignoring the comments that seemingly are disruptive behavior. So if you're sitting at your computer waiting to be inspired or angered by something that an anonymous individual may write I think you are missing the boat and you ought to get up and motivate yourself to make that change in your own community. Because maybe, just maybe you are being played for a fool by that person you wasted an hour rebutting a comment that was never meant to be serious debate but instead a more sinister ulterior motive altogether. So think about it!

I salute you

In central IL you had your work cut out for you. I don't think anyone in central IL votes in primaries unless they work for the county political establishment. In Springfield I was 1 of 300 that voted for RP. I think only around 6000 voted in a city of 110,000. This is central Illinois.

Asset

Seth, you are a real asset to this site. You are very insightful for your tender years. We need to hang together and move forward. The good doctor knows what he is doing. We need to be proactive and constructive, not reactive and destructive.

Donate now to the congressional campaign and demonstrate your fidelity to the r3VOLution and continue to support the presidential campaign until you reach the limit.

I agree, BUT, I do think

I agree, BUT, I do think it's only a select few that argue. I think the majority of us conduct ourselves civilly. RP did say Freedom brings people together, so you have got to figure there will be some that like to get into it. I usually just ignore a post I disagree with, I think most do.

I do like your post and I think it's good to get a smart young persons opinion on how we appear to conduct ourselves.

We need to remember new people come everyday to check us out, they should see us as patriots fighting together for a cause.

There is a simple way to reunite the Paul supporters

And I think we ALL know what it is, wether or not we would like to admit it.

APPLAUD...

I applaud you Seth. You get it--PERIOD. The fact that you're only 18 is insignificant. This revolution needs people of all ages. Your outlook is well-founded and rational. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. And keep up the good fight for the good Dr.

and all these same people

and all these same people voicing displeasure and quarraling and giving up did not sacrifice there time to become a delegate! all they want to do is sit on thier fat asses and FONT and won't talk to the neighbors and canvass to get that delegate position! to be honest I'm tired of all the whinning cry babies on this site.. here is an 18 yearold who's got more balls and gumptoin then most of the older people on the daily paul! nice job break free!
