Anyone willing to march on Washington against the Real ID?

Here in NC, we are facing the Real ID, aka National ID Card, starting in July. Our local newspaper had an article about the Real ID, but the only negative they mentioned was long lines.
Should we march on Washington? The people here on DP, for the most part, seem on top of the issues at hand and have very good ideas. What is your opinion about marching? I just feel like a sitting duck. The "masses" do not know about this. We have been trying to inform our area for the past 2 years, handing out over 1,500 fliers. We set up at a park with signs about the National ID Card and asked people to pull in and get info on this. Only 2 or 3 did. Could a march be the way to draw attention to this and help to stop it? We don't have very long and have to draw the line somewhere or we are no better than those we call sheeple

Use the reaction to the amnesty bill as your guide

Lots of people called, email, and faxed their congressional reps so much that many of the supporters backed off from it. Doesn't mean it won't come back, but it buys more time.

How about a huge letter

How about a huge letter writting campagin hand delivered to state law makers? I believe that could get attention if it were nationwide.

Marching draws attention but

doesn't really change anything. You could still organize a march in your hometown and give out free copies of America: Freedom to Fascism.

At the end if the DVD, it advises you to refuse to get a national ID card. If you don't travel by plane frequently it shouldn't be a problem...

After these people see this documentary and find out what the National ID card is really for, they will not only refuse to get one but come running to the Ron Paul campaign for help in getting their country back!

Question

I'm curious, and I mean this in earnest, but what is accomplished by marching and protests except having people arrested and being profiled as kooks? I know that is how most protests, marches and so forth look when they are reported in the media (if they even get coverage.)

Does it ever accomplish the objective? I'm not putting down the idea, I'm just wondering if it is a worthwhile endeavor. Thanks.

Normally I would agree with

Normally I would agree with you. But we have sat back for 3 years and knew it was coming. Some went to their state governments and tried to get legislation against it, others did petitions. We need to stand up for our freedoms, that's all I am suggesting. Does anyone have a better idea? If Ron Paul supporters are willing to have sign waves all over this country why not get together and do the same, while protesting the National ID card?

I planned on using our local celebration

People always set up booths and I planned on setting one up to inform people about the Real ID Act. But I don't think a peaceful demonstration at the state capitols is out of order. They usually don't get bad media where I live and the more people hear about it the better.

Armed march?

I think we should be armed

Not yet

We should not make any showing of arms until 1 of 2 things happen:
1) We have the sheeple united behind us (Unlikely)
2) They come to take our guns (Likely)

At which point all bets are off

Armed with signs

and flyers to inform the American people. That is an excellent idea !

My thoughts on RealID

I've read dozens of reports on RFID hacks and viruses. I think we need to have a nationwide infection on the first day that the first card is issued that changes every name in the database to Osama Bin Laden

I had planned on organizing something

here at the state level since our governor sold us out here in Nebraska and asked for the extension after Nebraska had passed a resolution against the Real ID act last summer.

March on Washington

Won't do any good. Media wouldn't cover it, Majority of Americans don't care anymore about it then they do anything else that's gone down the crapper in this country. They think it is a great idea to have everyone tagged and labeled. Wait till they get loaded on a train and taken to sunshine acres. They won't even have to be herded, they will go with a smile on there face. With the exception of the people supporting Ron Paul, no one in this country has half a brain to understand freedom and individualism and could care less. Ron Paul is too intelligent for these people. If I sound bitter, I am. All this voter fraud, we can't even have an honest election. The media blackouts, the arrest of people waving signs and handing out slim jims, and no one even notices or cares. I'm not quiting, in fact as soon as I get done with bills, I'm donating again. I'm still talking to people and I plan to go visit family in NM and bring signs etc. But my tolerance level for people's stupidty is on reserve right now. I feel like I might as well be talking to my dog about freedom, the Constitution etc., and she would probably understand better . Sorry but that is how I feel.

I completely understand your

I completely understand your view. But really, it is not about media coverage, nor about what other people are thinking. We will be exercising our right to "assemble". You never know, if we can get this organized and start telling others, we may have a big turnout that would get media attention. "We the People" marched on Washington and had no media coverage, except Aaron Russo. His DVD America:Freedom to Fascism, was and is still being spread far and wide. We don't need approval from the media. What we need, is to come together and fight, (non-violent, of course).

I am in Michigan

and I was told by the Department of State here that Michigan will be offering "enhanced" licences and regular ones. REAL ID is a Federal nightmare, but I want to clarify that Michigan is standing up for itself to SOME degree in this...

I think it's imparative, we

I think it's imparative, we need to repeal it and send it back to obliveon. A
pettition and a march is a good idea. A national I.D. Card will encourage open boarders, super highways, ameros and the North American Union.

This is very, very important

Thank you for the response. I saw it get buried, but you brought it back. This is important, very important. We can't just sit this one out.
