no

no chance. He would not get more than 10 percent of the vote. He would not allowed into any of the debates. You think he doesn't get press now, wait till then.

A Thrid Party Makes the Most Sense

This is the make or brake issue for the future of the Constitutional Restoration Movement.

The idea of staying with the GOP assumes voters outside the GOP will not embrace the Constitution and that some how a large number of Ron Paul Republicans will spring up in the GOP.

The GOP has done a great job of stopping Ron Paul's truth from spreading within its ranks. It is almost as if it was coordinated with the MSM, but we know the MSM hates the GOP and would do anything to hurt it, right?

That was the case years ago

But now that the GOP and the DEM are the same, they don't give a care!

Yes.

More saliently, it is NOT possible for Ron Paul to win the Republican nomination, and waiting till September to find this out will only make it impossible for to also run on a 3rd party platform.

QUICK - FLAG THIS POST - 3RD PARTY MENTION.

Quick everyone - flag this post - its another mention of third party run!!

NO

Move on, now.

NO

it is not ..so please accept that is not going to happen and move forward!

"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd

He's not running 3rd party.

He's not running 3rd party. Fucking drop the discussion already. Listen to what Ron Paul has to say or just leave and go vote for someone else. Go back to the Libertarian or Constitution parties that have accomplished NOTHING since their inception OR change the GOP from the inside out. Be part of the Revolution, dont be a distractive antagonist against what Ron Paul has planned and laid out.

NeoConned, you're a funny guy!!!

Tell me, what exactly has the Republican Party "accomplished?" I mean, they lie and betray every principle of constitutional government and liberty, they pass the patriot act, they start unconstitutional wars, they spend worse than the democrats, they promise to cut back government and they make it worse, and you want to...reward them??? Please explain to me your logic there.

If the Libertarian or Constitution parties have never "accomplished" anything, it is because people like yourself continue to reward the GOP with your vote. Then you curse the republican party for sliding into corruption, and you heckle the parties that have stood on principle from the beginning.

No wonder this country is in the mess it is in. You reward bad behavior.

Leave?

You don't honestly want all of the 3rd party ron paulers to leave
we're about half of Ron Paul's supporters.

Would you stop supporting Ron Paul if he went 3rd party? I think not. Would we stop supporting him if he stayed republican? We already have.

You're lucky I'm even voicing my opinion on boards like this to be an agent of change.

If we as a r3VOLution stay united and do NOT vote for the GOP...

and we all vote either Constitution or Libertarian Party, there are only two possible outcomes:

1)In an effort to get our votes. the Republican Party will change to a party that truly stands for liberty and limited government, or...

2)The Libertarian and/or Constitution Parties will actually win, and enact policies that stand for liberty and limited government.

As you can see, either outcome is acceptable. But the key point to all this is that YOU DO NOT VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICANS. Once you do, they do not need you anymore, because they have what they want...your vote. You are useless to them otherwise. And what they will do when they get elected (using your vote), is that they will be forever campaign for the votes they did not get. This is why you put yourself in the second group...so that they are campaigning for your vote, doing what you want them to do.

thank you

thank you for your salient points.

I have been a longtime republican, and after watching them treat Ron Paul (on the national level), I have zero love for the national party. A 3rd party run by Dr. Paul will do exactly what he wants to do -- change the Republican Party from within.

Ron should remain a Republican

Let the economy tank some more. He has plenty of money to allow time to strengthen his case without getting out of the race. I think RP knows what he's doing. Plus, remember with the size of his family he has alot of futures to be concerned about too.

Stop relying on RP to do everything and consider getting more aggressive and vocal yourself. I've converted alot of supporters, gave alot of money and believe in this message. We need more Ron Paul like candidates.

Ron Paul has stated over and

Ron Paul has stated over and over again he has no plans to run 3rd party. And where would he get the billions needed to get on the ballot in 50 states? Face reality. He needs to run on the republican ticket to win.

My Idea Is Better, Write In Ron Paul On The Ballot!

Let's check all 50 states and see what the requirements are for writing a vote on the ballots. Then organize the Revolution and do it!

Only, if, we do not win the nomination.

They will never see it coming. Just like Jesus, "Like a Thief in the Night."

Write in

This is the dumbest idea.

Obviously we will do it, as a protest but counting on it will get us nowhere.

Please read the constitution, when you are voting for the president you are voting for electors.

Write-in candidates have no electors.

Response

Did not know that? I will do my homework. Why don't you come up with something better. You are quick to criticize. Why? Are you smarter than me? We'll see. Go Ron Paul. Let's find a way.

No third party. Ron Paul

No third party. Ron Paul said no third party. Ron Paul knows more about it than any of us, seeing that he actually did run as 3rd party before. They practically arrested Nader when he showed up with a valid ticket to attend the debates.

So many people vote republican or democrat because they see themselves as a republican or democrat, RP would never get their votes. Taking over the Republican party is the best idea. 3rd party talk is a distraction, seeing that RP himself said no, we should leave it at that.

Running as a Republican

RON Paul has to tractor votes no matter which party he runs for

If he runs as a republican, and your logic stands, then he will lose anyway, since there are more dems than reps.

"3rd party talk is a distraction"

No. This complacency is a distraction. He cannot win in Minnesota. Full stop, end of story. If Paul changed his mind and went libertarian, would you withhold your support for him? Probably not. However, since he's staying in the party, already about half of his supporters are upset.

Changing parties is not morally questionable act, and we all know it. He does not violate his principles by doing so.

Sure, it's possible.

Sure, it's possible. When you think about it, if the country were to elect a 3rd party canditate it would be a Revolution in itself. If Perot got 18.9% of the vote in 1992, Dr. Paul with our grass roots movement should get a lot more.

NO THIRD PARTY WILL EVER WIN.....

Until honest people like RP infiltrate the two majors and change the laws that prevent third parties. Stop with the third party stuff, I know, I ran as a state rep as a Libertarian. Third party runs are excercises in futility until we get more people like RP elected.

Defeatist

Don't be a defeatist. With all due respect, you are not Ron Paul. And when you ran for state rep, the disillusionment in your state's parties was probably nowhere near as strong as it is towards the national parties.

Please start an onlne petition

Please start an online petiton for Paul to run 3rd party -- see how many signatures it gets.

I think he is set against it -- so it may not matter how many signatures you have.

Last night, I started to research the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party. I will join the Constitution Party. Now, I am trying to help recruit a real deal Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate.

I think Bloomberg will run -- I think a four way race gives us pro Constitution folks a hope.

Pray to God that He wil help us find good candidates.

Please read what is involved

Please read what is involved with an Independent run.....see below about the requirements, mandates, and restrictions imposed by some States. It is not easy and they have made sure that it is not easy. In some States, it is impossible to get on the ballot because of some restrictions that the Supreme Court has upheld regarding "sore loser" Statues.

Ron Paul 2012 - Not just for America, for the World!

Of course it is possible for a third party to win!!!

And how do I know that? Well, check this out, brothers and sisters of the r3VOLution: Believe it or not, the Republican party itself was once a third party!!!

Ironic isn't it? Here we have people telling us that a third party cannot win, and then telling us with a straight face that because of that incorrect assumption, we must work within a party...THAT WAS ONCE ITSELF A THIRD PARTY!!!!Oh, it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Of course, the immediate response from the Republican sympathizers will be that the republican party was formed as a third party over 100 years ago and thats ancient history and we should not learn anything from history because we all know history doesn't repeat itse...well, anyway, you get the point.

You want the Republican party to change? You want them to begin supporting the ideals of limited government and liberty? Well, there is a very simple, and very FREE way to do this: DON'T VOTE FOR THEM!!! Tell them that you will vote for the Constitution or Libertarian Parties, and tell them that they will not get your vote until THEY change first. In fact, if you want the republican party to dance a jig doing things for you, then DON'T vote for them. Withhold the one thing that they want from you: your vote. As long ass you never give it to them, they will continue to do whatever you want them to do. The minute you give them your vote, well, then they don't need your sappy ass anymore, and will lie and lie to you, because they will have their sucker.

You want the Republicans to change? Then don't vote for them. Its just that simple.

Undoubtedly, you have no

Undoubtedly, you have no idea what would be involved in getting Dr. Paul's name on the ballots in 50 states as an independent, it is almost an impossibility in some states due to the way the Republican and Democratic Parties write the rules.

It is not as simple as saying "Here I am, I'm running for President, please vote for me", besides the various disaffiliation regulations in some States [that mandate that a candidate remain neutral for one year after losing a primary election], required petitions, filing deadlines, there are also some incredible monetary considerations. On top of all that there is the "sore loser" Statues that prevent a defeated primary candidate from appearing on the general election ballots in several States.

The Supreme Court, by the way, has upheld these "sore loser" Statues by saying:

"The general election ballot is reserved for major struggles; it is not a forum for continuing intraparty feuds. The provision against defeated primary candidates running as independents effectuates this aim..."

So, to simply say Dr. Paul should run as an Independent will not provide the solution you seek.

Indeed, it is shameful that the Entrenchment Party Apparatus has coddled the legislatures of the States to ensure that the competition is limited.

Supreme court

Supreme court has NEVER upheld Sore Loser laws, especially in Federal elections.

Sore Loser laws also only apply to candidates making 3rd party bids as independents, not under established 3rd parties.

Please DO NOT spread disinformation.

I think you might want to

I think you might want to look again at all the Circuit Court cases, basically every court has upheld, in one way or another, the ability of the States to regulate independent candidates or third party candidates who have switched party affiliation after competing in major party primaries. The United States Supreme Court ruling in Storer v. Brown stated that the state has a compelling interest in regulating independent candidates, thus we have the following statues in the various States regulating the way a candidate will be allowed on the ballot.

You have 7 States that Permit Fusion "On the Ballot", then you have 28 Direct Ban States and 16 Indirect Ban States. In other words, it is extremely difficult for a Candidate to change party affiliation after running in one party primaries switching to another in mid-stream.
