Brokered Convention? How likely? Here are the numbers
I used numbers that actually favor McCain(the same one's MSM uses) I gave him all the delegates from Florida even though not all of Florida's delegate were "winner take all". Anyway, I wrote this in TextEdit, I hope everything pastes lined up correctly.

To lock up the nomination McCain would need to secure 623 of the 703 Bound delegates remaining. We need to spread this. The MSM is reporting that he is the GOP nominee.

But that statement is from 2004. I have read in a couple places that they are bound, but no official statements. Can anyone confirm whether they are bound or not and supply a link?
Work With Huckabee Supporters on Anti-McCain Ads
I don't like strategic voting for Huckabee in order to block McCain. It creeps me out. Vote Ron Paul all the way.
But I don't see any problem with forming an alliance with Huckabee supporters to run anti-McCain ads.
This serves two purposes: sends more votes to Huckabee and Paul, and makes allies of Huckabee supporters, which may be useful later.

I understand these numbers - yes, McCain can not get the necessary bound delegates to win the nomination outright. Outstanding news - we're headed for a brokered convention. What worries me though is that there WILL be a lot of Unbound delegates that are either there for McCain or who buy into the party line crap that we all need to unite behind the Anointed One. If, say, Mcain ends up with 800 bound delegates (just throwing a number out there) then he needs 392 of the Unbound (out of a total of 534) to vote for him on the first round to get the nomination sewn up on the first ballot at the brokered convention. If he got 950 of the Bound, he'd only need 242 out of 534 to swing his way.
Ron Paul's support has grown considerably and we have beaten McCain in a number of states, but now he's been dubbed the best chance for a Republican win in 2008 (seriously, does anyone out there buy that?) and this will sway a lot of sheep to 'do their duty' and go sign their (and their childrens') lives away at their state primary. Huckabee is far more mainstream and gets plenty of media attention, maybe we should do as other posters have suggested: re-double our efforts to fill up those delegate slots in every state we can and start Huckabee the popular vote in some big primaries so we can ensure McCain's bound totals don't get any higher.
Just my two cents. I'd be interested to hear what others think of this.

I don't believe RP supporters would vote for McCain
Dr. Paul's supporters are ardent supporters who are quite adamant about their candidate and are highly unlikely to be swayed by party politics. Their allegiance is to Dr. Paul and not the Republican party.

The best part of going to a brokered convention....
Is that most likely the Dems will have chosen their nominee, and begin attacking McCain and maybe Huck if he is still there. They will be doing the dirty work, gathering poll numbers, etc. RP will be able to stand up and say look, here is McCains dirty laundry and here are the stats that he doesnt have a chance in hell. So what do we have to lose if I (RP) am chosen? I am the only one who can gather up all of the Republicans, and reach over to the Dems and Independants who believe in consevatism. I have a crowd of 1 million people standing outside these doors ready to promote our fight immediately.

A lot of states are releasing Mitt Romney's Delegates. For instance Michigan, the state I live in, just released his. Now they are uncommitted and available to vote as they please.
