It creeps up slowly, with all kinds of wonderfully plausible reasons---safety is a prime one and you know, the changes don't really affect real law-abiding normal citizens---it's just those weirdos----and before you realize it you've slid down a huge slippery slope without noticing.

I am finding out the hard way
that alot of people I know are ignorant purposefully. I now judge peoples intelligence that I know and meet by how they can dissemate the fact from the falacy. Funny thing is the ones who can are truly who I consdiered to be my best friends and the others are but shills when the truth comes out and they have to make a decision.

People in America
The people that I see where I live and the media representation of Americans paints a sad picture of 'us'. Americans do not see that the stage is set for tyranny. The laws are being changed right in front of us, yet only one out of a thousand notices or understand the implications. The masses do not see it.
A client of mine recently told me that he had gold in his safe deposit box. When I said that was not a good place for it because the government could, did and may again force the opening of safe deposit boxes, he was skeptical...until I showed him the text of Roosevelt's 'order' online. He was shocked and his mouth dropped open!!! He trusts Gov a bit less now, and he is hiding his gold.

Little worlds of their own
Many people don't realise there is a tyranny/brutality/unjust wars, etc until something effects them or someone they know. I was just an ordinary family man thinking we lived in a civilised society up until Oct 06. I inadvertantly stumbled on corruption, misfeasance and intimidation by authority. I then googled something like 'corruption, truth news/real news, etc,etc-to see if there was anything about it on the internet. I really wanted to see if it had happened to anyone else. It was quite a wake up and frightenly shocking to find so much and so widespread and the motives for it all.
'I always think of all you canvassors and precinct leaders at the front line.

You are free to protest the current government all you want. In January of 2009 there will be a peaceful transition to a new government. Your right to free speech has not been abridged. There's a strong (and growing) Ron Paul movement.
You are insulting people who have truly lived under tyranny. Ask the victims of Stalin, Pol Pot, or even Mussolini if they think the comparison is legitimate. They won't answer -- because they're all dead.

Evolution
Number one priority is to survive, and that means it's helpful to be able to put up with oppression.

I was a sheep and I didnt know it. Honestly. My family were all SHEEPLETS too - But as we became enlightened, they listened, and we are sheep no more.
Would I like to go back to my earlier ignorance is bliss state? Sometimes, but sheep dont know they are sheep (at least most of them) until they are awakened from their slumber.
