Ron Paul Just Gave 2 Dates For The Rally

RP 1st choice sounds like July 4th - second choice Memorial Day
weekend ..... he says this will be more a huge rally than
marching through the streets.... this is going to be HUGE!
RP said he will be going to DC today - and things will be finalized
very soon.... (plan on July 4 tentatively)

Horrible dates
Both are long holiday weekends loaded with travelers, impossible to get hotel rooms, overbooked concessionaires and airlines, impossible to get permits, and in general rally logistical nightmares.
Is HQ going to work all of that for us, and with what staff?
Not trying to rain on this, but this needs serious planning on the front end to work.

And in my opinion, I would rather we all rally for Ron Paul in the State of Texas... He MUST win Texas, go all out .... with TV ads and so forth. He should EMPTY his bank on TEXAS for the WIN.
He should have --- must have faith in us in the grassroots --to money bomb him back to health after Texas no matter what happens.
But he must go all out to win his own State of Texas.

Anybody who has anything to do with hotels, motels or rental properties knows that Memorial Weekend & July 4th holidays are the biggest weekends of the year. Not just in Washington, everywhere.
Hell, people who vacation on those holidays KNOW that you'd better book your stay a year in advance.
Flights are going to be expensive.....you'll be lucky to find a place to stay...campgrounds will be full. Nobody will be watching the news, they'll be outside bbq-ing so nobody will see us.

July 4th is a great date for symbolic reasons. Unfortunately the march will go comletely unnoticed. There is just too much other stuff going on and it's too expensive.

What is the Rally is in RPs bread basket?
What if we have in a smaller city like Missoula Mt or Flagstaff AZ where 15-100 thousand people would make a huge splash?
Also we could go somewhere much nicer to visit than DC. It would be likely closer to all of RP's supporters anyway.
Also the local business would appreciate the tourism business and think highly of us.
Because...
...it's not about going somewhere nice to visit, it's about making a stand, and the best place to do that would be Washington D.C. because that's where all the political activity in our country goes down. It's symbolic, and tactically sensible. A march or rally in D.C. is going to garner a lot more attention than in Flagstaff or Missoula.

I LOVE 7/4 as a date...
I also like 7/2 to commemorate Caesar Rodney's ride but I'm partial. I do not care about the timeliness to affect primaries and the concern to have it earlier. The later the better since we'll have more time to organize and actually get more people there.

I think what Dr. Paul wants is maximum exposure to the masses. Doing the march on a "off" day would not have the full impact if the hoards of visitors and tourists don't see us and all our signs. There may be traffic jams and such, but that should'nt even be concidered. We want everyone to see us, and also the news stations may not cover anything on a off day, so we need to get this going on a major holiday.
