My Stepdaughter
This week the teacher gave my stepdaughter's 6th grade class (in the Ripon, WI school district) an assignment to pair up and do reports on the presidential candidates, Hillary, Obama, McCain, or Huckabee.
Would you believe April's hand went up - "Teacher, you're forgetting a candidate! Ron Paul!" That took a lot for her, because she doesn't thrive on confrontation like her ogre of a stepfather does.
The teacher responded that she wanted two people to work together on a candidate and there was probably nobody else who was familiar with Ron Paul. Then April's best friend in the class chimed in (April has told her all about Ron Paul). "I'll work with April to do a report on Ron Paul!"
So the teacher was backed into a corner and had no choice but to let them do their report on Dr. Paul. Apparently this is a written and oral report.
We copied the issues from ronpaul2008.com and each girl is going to cover 4-5 different ones. I gave April enough slim jims to pass out to the class (mostly "Students for Ron Paul").
The yesterday she got in a conversation with another teacher of hers, and April mentioned that Ron Paul is the only candidate who follows the Constitution. The teacher seemed genuinely interested and gladly took a slim jim.
I'm still waiting to hear that April got suspended from school ;-)

Oh No! ICE Storm!
Churches cancelled today because of dangerous roads. Ten inches of snow expected in Ripon tonight on top of the ice. Chances are good school will be cancelled tomorrow, when April's report is due. I sure hope she gets to do it Tuesday if that al happens.
It's Tuesday
She gets to do the report on election day in Wisconsin. I saw it in-progress today. If she doesn't get an A+, it'll be because the teacher is as biased against Ron Paul as the media is.
I feel for the kids who choose Obama
Won't they lose points if they can't determine the candidate's stance on issues?
Defend Liberty!
Not Much Better
with any of the other candidates.
Hillary voted for the war, but is against it.
McCain is against torture, but just voted for it.
Huckabee was a huge tax-hiker and illegal alien enabler, but just signed pledges reversing his entire political history. Romney may have flip-flopped just BEFORE the campaign, but Huckster is one-upping him and flip-flopping DURING the campaign.
OTOH, that boring Ron Paul holds to the same positions he held to 30 years ago.
Way to go...
My daugther has had some success at her school, but she has also been made the object of ridacule by her history teacher. Yes, her history teacher!? The teacher has also enlisted Obama supporting students to help combat the threat of Ron Paul in the class room.
Here in Europe, if your group can get 5%, you get 5% seats
We would not be stressing out now if we were in one of the many democracies that US troops helped create after WW1 and WW2. For instance, here in Germany, we would be shooting for 20% representation in the Bundestag simply by having 20% vote for the Ron Paul Party in the general.
Then the Republicans would have to form a coalition with us to form a government.
The Ron Paul Party would be able to get half its agenda taken care of because of the compromise necessary to form a government with the Republicans. The FDP Party is actually the quasi equivalent of the Ron Paul Party in Germany.
This really is the best form of government because there is no stress for the individuals. The Germans would not be laughing at a Constitution Movement that was clocking 10-20% in the polls.
In the USA, all we can do to stop being laughed at would be to directly blackmail the Republicans with a huge loss across the board in November. But that would be suicide voting. In Germany, 20% of the parliament would be the opposite of suicide voting.
Kids ADORE Ron Paul
I've been seeing/hearing this a lot lately --- have witnessed it in my own children --- kids ADORE Ron Paul. Perhaps it is their parent's influence? But I think there is more . . .. Joseph Campbell said, "A hero . . . is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." He personifies the mythical slayer of those ego-centric dragons which have materialized all around us --- the Federal Reserve, Military Industrial Complex. He is not only a presidential candidate, a statesman, a doctor, a father --- he is a modern day HERO.
Go April!
Educate those teachers! hee hee
Very nice
This is one of the great things about the innocence of youth. They are not afraid to speak their mind when they believe an injustice is occuring.
The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny. James Madison

Hope for America
We are just at the starting point of this revolution. It will be our children (and their children) who will have the bulk of the work to do, to iron out all the details and fully restore the republic to its original luster. They will be the "Hope for America" we so often speak of. Thank you for giving your stepdaughter the gift of knowing that true freedom is yet within our grasp!
I agree with the commenter below that you should consider submitting April and her friend to the Supporter Spotlight feature on the HQ page. Perhaps go to her school, tape their presentation, and post it on YouTube for all to see!
As a side note, I'd like to (again) note a couple of sites that are excellent for homeschoolers or anyone wishing to train up their children to be statesmen and critical thinkers. I've mentioned these in passing in other threads before, but the info usually gets quickly buried...so here it is -- do check it out:

USSR
for some reason everybody thinks that because David Hasslehoff danced on the Berlin Wall and Soviet citizens threw a few rocks at tanks that all the military might of the USSR just disappeared. A few Soviet leaders stopped calling themselves Communists and that meant that Communism died.
Communism is alive and growing in Russia. I've been there to see it.
..it is actually growing
..it is actually growing here, too.what with the feds mandating what is taught in schools and the TV and newspapers printing propaganda..don't think it isn't.
For Sure
although here Communism is evolving to Fascism. The difference is, under Communism, the gov't owns and controls everything. Under Fascism, we get to own, pay for, and maintain everything at our own expense, but the gov't still controls it.
Yay!

My 6th grader had a Social Studies discussion about who was the super power in the world. His teacher asked who the kids thought was the strongest. My son said China and his classmate said Russia. The teacher said that the USA was the super power. Then my son proceeded to ask him how that could be possible when the US is completely broke and has to borrow money from China to fund its daily operations and wars. Then he said Russia has natural resources to take care of itself such as natural gas and oil. The teacher said no the US is the strongest.
And we wonder why our children rebel when they are teenagers?
This social studies teacher is like any other teacher (or parent) that responds to a genuinely inquiring child, "because I said so, that's why". Or, "because I'm the teacher and I know more than you". OK,that child will no longer bother asking important questions or offering creative thinking to this teacher. They will instead resent that teacher and learn very little because they don't know what to believe and what not to at this point.
My favorite teachers always were the ones that challenged me to think for myself, to come up with my own solutions, to ask important questions, and to not just accept an answer because a teacher, parent, or authority figure says so. History books lie (and "history", even older material seems to change from edition to edition or disappear entirely down the memory hole). We can prove this over and over again. Just ask your own children.
This teacher has a lot to learn from his/her students. Too bad they're not willing to listen.

Note the irony:
There is a very good chance that April will be educating/giving a civics lesson to her teacher! I'm assuming that doesn't happen at that grade level very often. Great story!!
THIS is why the revolution will never die and can only grow. The truth is contagious. Thanks for sharing this. It made my day.
