I found out Ron Paul was running for congress at thew beginning of the money and I'm still sick about it. My Ron Pauli Girl Friends are bummed..allot of us are way way bummed and here's why:
Is Ron Paul going to vote for himself as president or congress?
Does he think he can actually do BOTH jobs?
Which race is Ron Paul in to WIN?
He can't win both.
Or can he. Please tell me how.
Boy was it allot more fun here 40 weeks ago.
Happy Valentines Day

think about it like this...
If RP...
1) loses his bid for the presidency and loses his bid for the congressional seat, this would be terrible for all of us. (it is unlikely that he will lose his congressional seat, so...)
2) loses his bid for the presidency and wins his bid for the congressional seat, this would not be so bad for all of us as we would still have at least one sane voice in congress. (fairly likely scenario)
3) wins his bid for the presidency and loses his bid for the congressional seat, this would be awesome for all of us, and it is the main reason we are here at DP. (anything's possible, and I'm very hopeful about this scenario, although I don't think he would lose hte seat in congress)
4) wins his bid for the presidency and wins his bid for the congressional seat, this would be even more awesome for all of us, and of course RP would choose the presidency. (anything's possible, and I'm even more hopeful about this scenario).
The seat in congress gives us a voice... The presidency would give us a voice and the veto, not to mention the platform from which to lead!
Let's make scenario 4 happen!!!

Thank You, Lyndon Johnson!
To the best of my knowledge, Texas is the only state which has a law which allows a person to run for two federal offices at the same time. Lyndon Johnson ran for president and for the senate in 1964, winning both. Lyndon, of course, resigned from the Senate, forcing Texas to have a special election. Barry Goldwater had to give up his Senate seat in Arizona, because that state has no such law. The selfish, power hungry Lyndon Johnson, who was behind the Texas law, finally unintentionally did something good for the rest of us. For those of you who might be offended by this description, Lyndon Johnson admitted, privately, that his support of civil rights and medicare were for the votes he'd get.
I've always know he was
I've always know he was running for congress. Duh.
And I'm glad about it too. I've always said, "Well I'm glad he's running for president, but I'll be pissed if he blows his congressional seat."
We need him telling the truth in Congress. If he had somehow won the Presidency, he would have obviously dropped his congressional seat, which would have been fine, but since it's looking less and less likely that he'll win the national election, I am quite pleased that he is getting more serious about his congressional race. It's about time.

The short answer is he can
The short answer is he can run for both offices at the same time and upon winning both, he chooses. Obviously, he'd give up the seat in the house. NO WORRIES.
