I think one of the reasons donations are down because.......

people are contributing to Ron's Congressional seat....I bet the donations go back up after march 4th.
»

people think he quit.
my parents thought he quit; that's what they heard.
I think it can be defined
Dr.Paul has defined it repeatedly. We need to read, watch and listen to all of Dr. Paul's communications to us.
Dr. Paul is right in the middle of the fight and has been there, really, since the 70's.
You speak of the "movement" and the "direction" of the movement.
We have a leader. He is defined as our leader for the simple reason that he is the only one qualified to lead us.
When you need direction just watch his most recent video.
Each state where we send delegates to the state convention is one step closer to freedom.
Please listen to Dr. Paul he is telling us to fight in each state and then, the national convention. He is telling us to support freedom candidates.
And he is setting the most powerful example of all...he is telling the truth over and over again.

I have posted
this a few times on this site. I have not had a paycheck in 8 months but I will be logging my donation on Monday to help this be something the media will cover. My hope is that by not donating today and saving what I have for the bombs that the bombs become news.
How many of us are doing the same thing??????
I donate larger amounts for $$$bombs...
and whatever I can the rest of the time.

In it to win it
I am full into this. I am maxed out and will max again as soon as the primaries are over. I have given to our congressional seat. As long as he is willing to run, it is a real stupid thing for a supporter to get down. Good grief. Talk about giving up. He will be there as long as WE keep him there. If we start falling off, then that means we didn't believe in ourselves. I believe in what I believe in. I am not changing my mind. I want America back. Not American Communism.
Maybe discourtesy to others
appearing too frequently on this site, a lot of whining from mature and smart people, not welcoming, i.e., case in point, DaddyWarBucks. People take risks and there are unintended consequences. We are doing serious and important work. Onward!
If I understand what you are
If I understand what you are saying correctly, I completely agree.
People are offering alternative means to make the uninformed aware of Ron Paul and instead of wishes of good luck or thanks them for the effort they are being met with hostility and accusations.
Growing up I was told time and time again, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all."
Has anyone stopped to think that maybe we're all adults here and should be able to do our own research and decide for ourselves whether or not something is a scam and how we would prefer to spend our hard-earned money?
What happened to freedom of choice? What happened to faith and trust?
Just because you don't like an idea doesn't mean you should shove your beliefs down everyone else's throats.
Nobody's forcing you to donate to something you don't happen to like.
This behavior has definitely had a negative effect on the movement.
I know that if I offered to invest a million of my dollars every month to support the cause in a manner of my choosing WITHOUT ASKING FOR A PENNY IN RETURN and instead of instilling hope in those who are becoming disheartened I was told repeatedly that no one believed me and it was a scam, you bet your ass I have second thoughts about the whole idea.
When I read "Don't waste your money on sponsoring a race car since the sign's too small and no one's going to see it because he's not going to win a race anyways", I hear "We didn't invite him because he doesn't have enough votes and no one cares what he has to say since he's not going to win the nomination anyways."
The way I see it is that the
The way I see it is that the donations are down because Ron Paul, at this point, is non candidate to the mass majority of America. He hasn't won a state, has the least amount of delegates and won't run a third party ticket.
When it looked like we could elect him and the campaign was really taking off, sure people put in lots and lots of money, to back a winner. That's over, thanks to the RNC, Neo-cons and MSM. So, if you want to help Ron Paul, fund his race for his congressional seat and let the Presidential deal go. There isn't a chance in hell that the powers that be will allow Ron Paul to be the nominee or the President. NO WAY. But they have no objection to his being a Congressman from a small district in Texas.
As for the "movement" and the "message" it hasn't been defined. What are we moving toward? Is it a "back to the future" deal? Or is it a movement against something, like the war or the Federal Reserve Bank?
If you want people to give money to a cause, it has to be obtainable, or at least appear like it could be. In the case of Ron Paul's bid for the nomination, it's not.
Don't just look at it from this side
As far as I have observed, it is online donations that have been significantly been down. It seems that the offline donations have been well and consistent. If we continue to look at things from this side (the online side) of the donations, we may inadvertantly affect things on the offline side.
Ron Paul has not suspended active campaigning.
He has streamlined his campaign staff. I believe two people joined even after doing this!
If you need further assurance that he has not suspended his campaign, please refer to his campaign website, where it shows his upcoming, active campaign schedule.
www.ronpaul2008.com
WOW 3 ACTUAL events scheduled within the next two weeks.
And all of them in Texas.
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/events/
An absolutely BRUTAL campaigning schedule.
BTW, putting a note on a calendar about the fact that people can start voting in Texas does NOT make it a campaign event.
And if we're adding NOTES about important NATIONAL CAMPAIGN events, then why are the various primaries not listed, but "early voting in Texas begins" is listed?
and they are evenly spaced apart, one every 5 days...
that will get 'er done
Ft. Hood
RP is also suppose to speak in Killeen on the morning of the 23rd. Killeen is the home of Ft Hood.
Also, there is a press conference on Presidents day in Ft. Worth, before the Denton speech.
Also, he has a private function scheduled in Dallas the night of the 18th, hopefully they can raise more than the 101k they raised last time.
Very smart of him to
Very smart of him to concentrate on the college age crowd.
ok
I'll throw my two cents in. According to Ron Paul he was handing the campaign over to us to run while he ran his congressional one. Why is everyone looking at his campaign numbers and complaining when we now are in control? Are you not really complaining because you don't want to do the work? You would rather pay someone else to, like his campaign, and then turn around and complain about the way they are handling it.
Stop looking at the numbers that don't matter. Start looking at the smaller decentralized approaches to campaigning for Ron Paul. After all, it was us that brought the money bomb, etc., around anyways.
Start giving your money to ronpaulracing, the blimp, the march, and other things like that. The meetups are the most important way to grow right now. Get to work.
The blimp?
I think it is done, isn't it?
Daily donations
Have always served as an indicator of Ron's support. It is disheartening to see donations drop as low as they have. I am one of the people who have stopped donating. I don't have a lot of money and I can think of better ways to spend my money right now, especially since Ron has pretty much taken a hiatus from the national election.
This campaign is going to need some sort of divine intervention to really excite the foot soldiers again. Romney, who dogged McCain for months, has now endorsed him. Huckabee has probably remained in the race this long just to hold off the Ron Paul vote. Huckabee was the protest vote against McCain.
It is sick how the system works and how helpless the truly intelligent and aware voters really are. A flock of 100 sheep can cancel out my vote that many times over. Sheep reproduce more like rabbits when it comes to the compariason to the human race. Kind of like the movie "Idocracy"

Donation do not reflect his support
A lot has to do with timing after the "I just bankrupted myself buying Christmas presents" season. Those bills started rolling in late January. Many people, not me thank God, buy into the corporate mentality of holidays.
Also, even though many people support Ron Paul, we now know it's not just about Ron Paul. There are many people running for office as Ron Paul Republicans that are receiving the attention.
This movement is growing rapidly...and just as quickly, the funds needed to grow the movement will be diverted to the appropriate places. That decision is made at the grassroots level. Instead of just donating to Ron Paul, we also have over a dozen new RP Republicans running for Congress.
If the money was still going to one place, you'd see the support base has not diminished, it has not lost its energy, it has not stopped growing.
There's a big picture to look at...not just the small photograph of Ron Paul.
You can kid yourself if you want
Just look at donations leading up to Ron's email on Saturday and after. His decisions to run "leaner and meaner" have directly affected his monetary support. His congressional donation dollars have not picked up the slack either.
I'm still a believer in the movement, I just think people have become disheartened.
"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul
"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul
if there's any one reason, it was clearly that
email he sent out, without a doubt, no argument, anything else is noise.
Instead of fired up, demanding donations and promising to renew his push, it was a lackluster missive that just took the wind out of everyone's sails. Period.
He's been almost invisible since as well. Took me about 5 seconds into reading it to deflate.
Bad timing, bad writing, bad message.
I completely agree

Cash on Hand
Donations may be down, but Paul has cash on hand and no debts to his name. Take a look at the other candidates and you will see they are operating like the government does. All of the other candidates have deficits in the books and little cash on hand. Dr. Paul has been prudently spending his capital and will still need to have cash on hand when the National Convention comes forward. Something will give and faith should not be lost.
Besides, think of all of the notoriety the fight for the Constitution has had. To say this is a lost cause is a defeatist’s attitude and should have no place in this campaign.
Ron Paul himself did not expect such a significant rally for his cry, but he did expect to be ignored and did expect the governmental machine to eat his candidacy alive. He also expected his message to ring true for millions and the message will spread like a Californian wildfire.
There is an absolute reason why Paul continues to campaign and spread the good word and his refusal to quit in the face of opposition should be a beacon to us all and should serve as a light for us to carry.
Just remember, many of us fighting for Ron and the Constitution would have little or no involvement in politics, but it is because of him and his ideals that many of us have taken on the cause. His resurgence of what was good and enviable about America will be reignited and we will all see the fruits of our labors come to fruition in our lifetime.
So do NOT give up the cause, do NOT give up in the face of opposition, and do NOT forget the message that was brought to us is true and the truth will prevail.
We love you Ron Paul and we thank you for your tireless effort and dedication to the good America and to the good of what is left of America. Our hearts and souls will follow you for the cause is good and the cause is needed for all of us to thrive.
Because the campaign has "suspended" active campaigning
And most people are tired of the begging for money with nothing to show for it in return.
Confidence in the official campaign has been steadily decreasing since Iowa. Confidence will soon hit zero.
And the campaign staff will doubtless blame everyone BUT themselves.
Revolution Will Live On
I am part of this Revolution until I DIE thanks to Dr. Paul.
Confidence in the REVOLUTION !
I disagree with your (WRellim) entire post. If you were a real Ron Paul Revolution supporter, you wouldn't say or even think what you posted.
Whenever any negative propaganda surfaces about RON PAUL it just makes me more determined to help this man win the nomination and become the next President of the United States of America! No doubt that most all Ron Paul supporters feel that way as well.
WRellim Has Been A Steadfast Supporter
And, I believe, has even capped out his $2300 donations, so you shouldn't be so quick to cast aspersions.
I don't think it's too difficult to follow his logic:
It's not that big of a stretch to see why donations are down....
In other words...
If you were a real Ron Paul Revolution supporter, you wouldn't [...] even think [...]
Unlike yourself (and apparently many others) in supporting the Ron Paul campaign, *I* did NOT join a cult where people turn their brains off and engage in mindless worship.
If you have reached the point where you are blocking off reality, censoring your own thoughts and turning off your abilities to use critical judgment (AND THEN EXCORIATING OTHERS WHO DO NOT DO LIKEWISE)... then quite frankly you are just a sheeple of a different color.
You can keep your blind sycophancy. Go drink your pretty Kool-Aid.
Cite a verifiable source that claims that
there is a suspension of active campaigning.
Can't do that?
Why am I not surprised.
Actions... lack of candidate appearances and no ads in current
Actions... complete lack of candidate appearances and no ads in current primary states.
Cite me one source of ACTIVE campaigning?
Whether you like it or not, the campaign HAS in fact suspended actively pursuing the votes of anyone in the current and near future primary states. (Look at the schedule -- http://www.ronpaul2008.com/events/ -- no events outside of Texas for the entire rest of the month of February.)
Protestations in the form of words are meaningless, when the evidence controverts it. (Hey, delude yourself if you want... makes no difference to the reality.)
And note that I did NOT say they have "ended" the campaign, just "suspended" current activity -- for all I know they are letting Huckabee bear the brunt of stopping McCain right now -- and somehow intend to RESUME active campaigning in the later post March-4th primary states after Huck exits and/or RP wins the nomination for his congressional seat again ... indeed if you read between the lines, that is a possibility that has been stated.
Any of the candidate's supporters
would be hard pressed to know exactly what their candidate is doing 24/7.
That is unrealistic to say the least.
I'm still waiting for a citation for a link to evidence that the campaign has suspended active campaigning.
If you're going to make a statement like that, you should be prepared to back it up.
