Foreign Policy: Need Best RP Info, Please

I often wish we had sections here at DP where we could catalog and easily retrieve info, articles, links, etc. on a topical basis. But since we don't (at least, not yet), I'm throwing this request out for y'all:

There's a number of folks I know that are thaaaaat close to supporting RP, but hesitate due to his foreign policy -- either the "isolationist" issue or "not supporting Israel" or both seem to be the main sticklers.

Now, I could spend tons of time sifting through all the RP foreign policy info, and maybe get some good info, but I might just as likely miss out on the special gems that could clinch the deal. I'm searching for the cream of the crop; the best examples that clearly spell out where RP stands on foreign policy and why. And I just know there are those of you that have excellent links for what I'm seeking. It's more than just the slim-jim blurb I'm after.

So help me win some folks for RP -- please provide info/links to prime examples of RP's foreign policy stand and why his position on this issue is the best of all the candidates. Then we can all make use of this aggregated information, too!

I await your generous brilliance! And thanks in advance!!

Tell them to look at Ron Paul's statements on

Foreign Policy, and the war on terror. Then tell them to look at what Michael Scheuer 22 yrs in the CIA, the Chief CIA Agent of the Bin Laden Unit on Counter Terrrism from 96' - 99' and chief advisor of the Unit from 01' - 04' , has to say about foreign policy and war on terror. He has several books on this "Imperial Hubris", why the west is losing the war on terror and "Marching Toward Hell" America and Islam afer Iraq. You can have them read this interveiw for some of his expert analysis on the subjects: http://harpers.org/archive/2006/08/sb-seven-michael-scheuer-...

This really is the key to dealing with people concerned with the posibility of another 911.

What a Collection

That's a wonderful site! Thanks! Still hoping for info from "other" sources too.

Read his speeches in

Read his speeches in congress. He is always talking about foreign policy.

A Good Start, But Need More

First off, lynnopoly, thank you so much for your reply!

Re: the people I'm dealing with -- I've already informed them about how much support RP has from active military, and they did like hearing that. However, they were far more concerned about "isolation" and "ignoring Israel", which is why I'm seeking info more specific to those particular issues.

Certainly, the HQ site is on my list, as well as the slim-jim info, but I'm hoping to find more info to back up "the candidate's" own site and literature. These people I'm trying to convert are deeply entrenched in MSM (natch!), so if I can supply them with info from various sources, it would be a boon. See, if it comes from the candidate (who they've never heard of), it doesn't hold a lot of water for them. But if the info comes via some source they have heard of before, or at least from a third party talking about the candidate's views, well, then I've got their attention. *sigh* Yes, this is a challenge, which is why I've turned to the good folks here for assistance.

Which, for example, might be the most illustrative and effective YouTube on those issues? Which other non-RP-HQ-website sources would be great for inclusion?

ok, first off - always

ok, first off - always correct that word isolationism, that's a dangerous word to let people associate ron paul with. it's not isolationism, it's non-interventionism, HUGE difference. paul's foreign policy is "Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none," (thomas jefferson) in a nut shell. non-interventionism is not meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign nations and not being the bully that starts the wars but being the morally just nation that ends wars in defense of our own nation and our own nation only. not only that but we can't afford to police the world anymore. the current economic situation should be enough to convince them of this. ask them how they would like it if china started building bases all over our country or if some other country sent their intelligence agents over here to overthrow our democratically elected govt. and installed a dictator, which is what our CIA did to iran in the 50's. search youtube for this and it might help you highlight the difference between isolationism and non-interventionism for these people.

as for israel... it's kind of along the same lines. israel is supposed to be a sovereign nation. instead, the u.s. gives israel so much money they can't do anything without checking with washington first. not only that but the u.s. gives israel's enemies 3 times the aid that we give israel. ask them how that is helping israel. then ask them if we kept all that money and let them fend for themselves don't you think the region would come up with their own solutions? the israeli military would not face any serious threat from anyone else in the region. there would be more incentive for them to come up with their own solutions. so what's our real motive in sending all that money to the region? why are we funding both sides? by letting israel be a sovereign nation we are helping israel. we're helping them help themselves. do a youtube search for ron paul and israel aid or something similar and i'm sure you'll find something good.

sorry, i don't have any real sources for you, but you should be able to find everything you need on the campaign's website and on youtube. good luck!

Don't forget to tell them

If you Support the Troops, then LISTEN to what they are saying to you!

The most educated people in the country on foreign policy, our own military support RP!

What, you didn't hear? --Well, let me tell you:

According to the FEC reports, these are the total number and amount of military donations for each of the presidential candidates:

Ron Paul: 1160 $249k
John McCain: 438 $83k
Mike Huckabee: 126 $37k
Mitt Romney: 126 $24k
Barack Obama: 443 $76k

Now that you heard, will you listen?

SUPPORT THE TROOPS
