Good One: What do we agree on?

OK, currently on the forum there is lots of debate, which is always good. Some larger disagreement, which can hurt the cause. And some larger flamings and whatnot, which is really never good.

So let's turn the focus to what we can agree on in this election, shall we?

I can bet we all agree on this:

- Ron Paul is the most honest candidate in the running right now BY FAR.
- We want to limit the government.
- We respect and admire and honor the Constitution.
- We want individual liberty and believe in personal responsibility.
- We love our fellow man/woman.

Keep the list going...

I really like his quote

"I am the champion of the Constitution" Keep up the great work people.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

I find it kind of funny that

I find it kind of funny that you started a thread with a list of things we all allegedly believe, and people start spouting off stuff that clearly, not everyone believes. Like hanging people.

The Ron Paul Revolution is home to people from all walks of life. And while I can appreciate the nuances of other cultures, you have to acknowledge that some of the people in this campaign may not..

Remember this forum and this movement is home to people from every race, both major political parties or neither, Christians, Muslims, Athiests, and any other number of other religions. Homosexuals, Homophobics, Homeschoolers and any other brand of Homosapien you can think of.
Whether we agree with each other on everything is irrelevant.

But I think the intention of the original poster was to find some common ground so we can get this forum back in order and on the task of forwarding the campaign... not have near so many arguments going on about meaningless BS. So many of the topics that float around on this forum are a complete waste of effort and bandwidth.

So to back up the original poster.

- Ron Paul is the most honest candidate in the running right now BY FAR.
- We want to limit the government.
- We respect and admire and honor the Constitution.
- We want individual liberty and believe in personal responsibility.
- We love our fellow man/woman.
- We believe that we know how to spend our money better than the government does.
- We believe in a sound currency, not money printed out of thin air.
- We believe in a NON-INTERVENTIONIST FOREIGN POLICY
- We believe that this country is not beyond hope.

Feel free to correct me if I'm off base with any of my additions, but if theres a discrepancy, I'm quite sorry that you don't feel this way :P

Sound Money

I don't like using "we" because I can't assume with conviction what individuals within the "we" think.

That said - I don't see how anyone can be a Ron Paul supporter without believing in sound money - because it is an issue that is of very great importance, effects us all - and Ron Paul talks about it all the time.

Ron Paul & Lao-tzu

In the Stephen Mitchell translation of the TAO TE CHING, here's a citation from Lao-tzu (citation 75):
------------------------------------

When taxes are too high,
people go hungry.
When govenrment is too intrusive,
people lose their spirit.

Act for the people's benefit.
Trust them; leave them alone.
-----------------------------------

True in 550BC, true in 2008AD

Stirner.

Tao

Was a spiritual belief created out of political oppression. I really respect that body of beliefs.

So

This is what you'd post on a post of "something we can all agree upon"?

Maybe that is something we could agree upon if we all got really deep into it, but it's probably not the first topic that springs to most people's minds...

I was thinking more in line with: Cut back on anti-liberty legislation such as the PATRIOT Act, protect American individual gun rights, maintain the sovereignty of the United States of America, that sort of stuff.

But, hey, whatever floats your boat...

Personal responsiblity

My life belongs to me, not to the government. That means I bear responsibility for what I do.
