Please Respond to the Victoria Advocate's Endorsement of Dr. Paul's Competitor Peden

Hello Mr. Peden,

I have taken an interest in the Texas congressional race and noticed on your web site the following text:

"I think Islamo-Fascist terrorists were responsible for the 9/11 attacks; the incumbent thinks America's Middle East policies were responsible for the attacks."

This statement is false. The truth is that you and Ron both believe the exact same thing! Dr. Paul has never placed blame on Americans and never said our policies were responsible. He always strives to make it clear that the ones to blame are them; the terrorists, since they committed the crime. However, it is our foreign policy that incites their hatred.

NO, our foreign policy is NOT responsible for the attacks. YES, our foreign policy is responsible for angering them. This may seem like a subtle difference but it's huge.

If I write a Chris Peden slander article which angers you, and you kill me, which is responsible? The article? Or you? Of course you are responsible, not the article. But the article did anger you, and that's all Dr. Paul points out about our foreign policy. Except our foreign policy is more like a series of articles slandering Chris Peden, written year after year, constantly hurting you, breaking up your family, costing your job, and destroying your life. Then finally one day, many decades later, you finally kill me, the guy who wrote all the articles. That's a closer analogy. So yes, in that case the anti-Peden articles do have a lot to do with my death. But they are not responsible. Although you could say I was asking for it!

I would hope you edit the language on your website to accurately reflect your opponent's views. This sentence would be better:

"While the incumbent and I both think that Islamo-Fascist terrorists were responsible for the 9/11 attacks, I think they attacked us because of our liberal freedoms of speech and religion, our beautiful women and their style of dress and our eating habits; the incumbent thinks they attacked us because we destroy their governments, install military dictatorships, loan money and weapons to their enemies, build military bases on their holy lands, and are responsible for countless civilian deaths."

If my assessment of WHY you think they attacked us in the above statement is false, please then let me know... WHY do you think they attack us? We both know they are responsible. But why do they do it?

Unfortunately I didn't save what I wrote. It had a Reagan quote and a Sam Adams quote and a Peden Quote in it.

Both will be published in the papers.

I would like to post how Ron Paul now has support in every other congressmen's state. Talk about adding teeth to his words. Everyone one of his piers now need to worry about his supporters throwing them out of congress. "You don't want to back my bill, let's see what my friends think of you in your state." is the quote Ron Paul will have. He is now a congressman with real pull in every state. Why would you want to throw that away. A vote against Paul is a vote against Texas.

He may be a Texas Congressmen but he always keeps us informed of certain pieces of legislation that would encroach upon or strip us of our rights. He has been a beacon of light for many of us who do not live in Texas.

I used to live in Texas and yet he wasn't in my district then, I have known about him since he has been a congressman. He is the same man he was then and there is not a fake or phony bone in his body.

If only there were 534 other members of Congress, like Ron Paul, America would once again, be that shining city upon a hill.

I can't believe how the one guy likes things the way they are and doesn't want the government to change. Wow, just wow!

Just got done posting a reply to the editorial endorsing Mr. Peden. To my pleasure almost every reply including mine was to endorese Ron Paul. Hopefully a thousand more e-mails are sent telling the people of the 14th district how lucky they are to have Ron Paul represent them in congress. Just takes five minutes and it may be the best donation we can make! Thank-you.

It truly is sad that Mr. Peden has said so many things in the past about what Dr. Paul means to him and most of all that he would never run against him - and now he is doing that very thing.

He is running a very nasty and dirty campaign - and I think it is starting to come back around to him.

Anyone who has to do most of the funding of his campaign HIMSELF or with his family's help, can't have much popular support.

ToniAnne - your comments on the Victoria Advocate were superb. If people cannot see that Peden is duplicitous by comparing the comment he made to the Galveston News to his current smear tactics - then they must have blindfolds on. What kind of a Representative does such character make?

...that the Advocate has endorsed Ron's opponent *every* time (that i recall). So this is not big news in Victoria, but of course always dissappointing.
