Bush Dismisses Iraq Recession: The War Has ‘Nothing To Do With The Economy’
This morning on NBC’s Today Show, President Bush denied that the there’s any link between the faltering U.S. economy and $10 billion a month being spent on the Iraq war. In fact, according to Bush, the war is actually helping the economy:
CURRY: You don’t agree with that? It has nothing do with the economy, the war — spending on the war?
BUSH: I don’t think so. I think actually the spending in the war might help with jobs…because we’re buying equipment, and people are working. I think this economy is down because we built too many houses and the economy’s adjusting.

Bush on war economics
Bush has a point.- Thank the stars for GPS,-a military turned civilian navigation system. Why don't you use that as an example of how war helps the economy? How the worlds number one gps mapping company (USA) has just been bought by a european phone company.
That $8 billion has gone back into the american economy. Most if not all the civilian sat nav products are chinese or whatever. The bandage manufactureres are doin well an all so we should expect the prices to tumble on mass produced gasoline products too.

We lost our "say" when the supreme court got involved in 2000
Our votes haven't been properly counted in several election cycles. Once we allowed the supreme court to decide who should be the (P)resident, we lost any semblance of a "representative republic". If only American citizens could show some intestinal fortitude and institute a general strike to get the bureaucrats and selected 'government officials' to take note that we are fed up with the shenanigans.

But he is right that the housing market also is a contributing factor... but that I think was also effected by spending and bad monetary/fiscal policy.
Someone should let Bush know
