''Forget Mike Huckabee as a running mate for John McCain, his closest supporters say -- there's no chance he'll be on the GOP presidential ticket.
So writes veteran political columnist Robert Novak, who reports that political insiders close to McCain's presidential campaign "have put out the word that there is absolutely no chance that his last remaining major opponent for the GOP presidential nomination, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, will become McCain's running mate."

It Doesn't Matter Who He Picks
It doesn't matter because he isn't going to get elected. The Manchurian Candidate does not have the support within the Republican Party. If the story about his activites as a POW become better known (Viet Nam Veterans Against McCain), he won't be able to get elected dog catcher.

I agree with you that he can't win, but if he is a manchurian candidate (as seems probable) why would THEY want to waste him on a loss? Perhaps he's a backup if Obama or Hillary don't want to play ball the way THEY want them to.

All Huck would bring to McCain would be the Evangelicals. But by default, McCain already has them. (They certainly will not vote for the Democrat).
McCain would need to grab votes from left and center.
