Hello, my name is Abby Baker and I am a member of the Columbus, Ohio Ron Paul Meetup Group. Even though we are all working really hard to get the vote out for Ron Paul before our primary on March 4th, we need help, so we are asking other states to get involved. We are trying to get volunteers in all of the Meetup groups from the states that have already held their primaries to call voters in Ohio.
The official campaign has told us that they cannot spare the time or money to come to Ohio or campaign in Ohio, even though we have 88 delegates. So we figured the task of getting the vote out for Ron Paul in Ohio has been left up to the grassroots. We have a little more than 1867 members in our main Meetup groups throughout the state but we need more people to help contact voters to get them familiar with Ron Paul and his message. Ohio is the 4th largest state in the amount of delegates that we have and people place a lot of symbolic importance on who wins Ohio in presidential primary and general elections.
We have 18 congressional districts. Each district has about 400,000 registered voters. If we can get 2,000 people to work on each district, than each person will only have to contact 200 people. I know that seems like a lot but it can be done. If Meetup members in other states are willing to spend some of their time and help call Ohio voters, we could work together and contact almost every registered voter in Ohio!
Of course some districts in Ohio are more important than others so we will make sure those are covered first. We are also working with the other Ohio Meetup groups so we have a running total of exactly how many precincts we have already covered (and which ones).
We really think that this can be done. If we can at least win Ohio for Ron Paul or get him second place, it would be a major achievment. It would make the whole nation look closer at Dr. Paul. People place a lot of importance on our primary here in Ohio so lets make it happen!
The official campaign is focusing all of their attention on getting the vote out for Ron Paul in Texas. Ohio and Texas have their primaries on March 4th. We have a little more than two weeks. Can you imagine how amazing it would be if Ron Paul won Ohio and Texas on March 4th?

Ohio has 88 delegates and it is not a winner take all state, but it is a winner take all in each individual county. Expect Tens of thousands of people over 2 days, easily. it is usually covered(saturday, usuall) by the local MSM... like Channel(s) 22/45, sometimes 7 and 26.
Park your cars out there, go in.. write on the windshield(as demonstrated on this link)..Ron Paul, etc..
I am trying to get a few others I know to go with me Saturday...
One guy has an old "conversion" tyupe of van... white... we would use that eraseable writing markers on the side''HUGE LETTERS.. RON PAUL, 2008...and add some things he is for, on the sides...and drive around, park(think parking is free).
Imagine, oh, 50 people outside with Ron Paul signs, stuff on their cars, outside...when the news is there(maybe in the back ground)?
Newspaper(s) sometimes are there(Dayton Daily News, etc)...
You never know.
Might get seen, if not my the MSM, byt 10-20-30,000 people.
I heard 30-50K a year show up...lowest figures are usually 15-20K people.

Thankyou Abby - there's been a lot of bitching on here about where Ron Paul is or isn't making appearances lately. He made it pretty clear in his statement a week or two back that his campaign was pulling back to Texas and that he was relying on us to carry on the fight in the other states.
THIS is precisely what he was talking about - you guys are fantastic. We should be pooling our resources and working every remaining state together - phonecalls, materials, mail drops. If we act together we can re-build the momentum so that when it comes time for the rally things will be set to reach a genuine crescendo of support.
I still firmly believe we can win this thing, but ONLY because of people like you guys. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, we do need more overpass banners. The problem is funding. Twice I've had Chipins to make banners and the Northeast Ohio people came through in spades! It took a while, but twice since December, we put up banners.
With the commercials on WKYC, the 100,000+ fliers that have been printed up, group purchases of signs, etc. people are pretty tapped. The banners keep coming down from either city workers or private individuals. We have been fortunate to have a banner last 4-5 days. One batch of banners runs around $100. We have the facilities in place, the stencils cut, we just need cash.
Beyond that, Maryanne has put a hold on all activities through the primary on 03-04-2008. This is so all Cleveland Meetup events can be striclty devoted to literature drops.
We have two this Saturday; one in Lakewood and one in Lyndhurst. Are you in?
