Could HQ simply offer people $5,000 to become a delegate/campaign worker? It would certainly make it a lot easier to recruit and a easier for people to make the commitment.
If you paid 500 delagates/campaign workers $5,000 each, that would only take $2.5 million. Seems to me like that would be a LOT CHEAPER than spending $28 million on ads trying to recruit volounteers!

Jim Forsythe Pledge Day
Isn't today the day to pledge $100.00 to the campaign of Jim Forsythe, endorsed by Ron Paul, running for the House of Representatives in NH? Go to his banner on this DP page.

Maybe I am missising something here
but if we are trying to get delegates, we need to try something different and be quick about it.
If RP has access to all of this fund raising, using that money to DIRECTLY fund people who are both campaign workers and delegates, sure seems like a better and cheaper way to get what we want - which is DELEGATES!
Delegates expenses
I think the cost of becoming a delegate and going to the convention may be preventing some dedicated people from applying. Maybe we should find a way to help them with the expenses. We'd need some sort of organization and a way to determine that delegate candidates are dedicated to Ron Paul and are not just looking for an expense paid trip to the convention. It would probably have to be handled at each local level, maybe in the grassroots organization.

It's really a matter of deciding the best way to spend
the campaign funds!
$20,000,000 divided by $5,000 per delegate would be 4,000 delegates.
If they could be paid...
There would be some rich democrat delegates about rights now.....
You can not pay people to
You can not pay people to become your delegate it is illegal but you can pay for thier travel and expenses to the convention.

What if they were delegates/campaign worker?
?
Do you know if it Is there a limit on the amount?
Also what about someone being paid as a combination campaign worker/delegate.
I don't know how it works in
I don't know how it works in other states but our delegates to the convention were picked over a year ago. My Husband and I went to our state convention last weekend as uncommited delegates. We thought we might have a chance to go to the national convention. But no chance, our only hope is to get the two undecided ones to vote for RP. Two are for Huckabee and the rest are for McCain. Huckabees wife came to the convention and gave a speech on why we should vote for him. McCain had a video on a big screen talking to the 3000 delegates. No one for RP. Our state coordinator did nothing to secure a speaker for this event nor the HQ. One of the grassroots people at the last minute said a few words to a small group of people the first night, nothing was said on the second day when we had the larger crowd of delegates. I can't tell you how disappointed i am with this campaign there are missed opportunities
everywhere.
I can feel your pain
It is bound to happen in every campaign. I just read something about RI being totally neglected. Regardless, we must stay the course and sometimes take matters into our own hands. Thanks and all the best.

Delegate for free
I'm happy to be a delegate for RP for free. I just need HQ or someone to tell how and if I can still be one from NJ.

becoming a delegate
I don't know about NJ but I just had a letter from FL RP Campaign telling us to sign up soon to become delegates. He named 14 states; NJ was not among them but he said to go to Ron Paul>Grassroots Central and sign up and they will direct you. They will prob also tell you if it is too late for NJ.

People would have the option to accept the fee
or not. But it would certainly help a lot of people be better delegates.
It's all about the best use of funds in getting RP delegates
to the convention. Instead of spending massive amounts of money to find volounteers, why not just spend the money directly and reimberse people for their effort and expenses?
If it is legal it would be a hell of lot quicker and cheaper! PLUS - it would be one way to tell the MSM to stick-it!!!!!!
The cool thing is
you wouldn't HAVE to pay most people! RP's message sells itself!! Have you had one person tell you that they disagree with his policies once they hear them?
His policies are what people THINK they're getting from the other candidates! It's no mistake that you're hearing them start to speak in RP's language--they KNOW it is a powerful message.
The battle all along has been to get the message out--that's the reason for the blackout--the PTB knows they will lose if everyone hears what RP has to say.
I agree but it would make it a lot easier
to recruit people if their expenes were covered.
Point taken
.
1,000 delagates at $5,000 each would come to
$5 million. How much has already been raise 28 million?
Just pay expenses
$5000 is a profit. That just isn't right. Wonder if the others are doing this.
PAID does not mean dedicated. In fact, it is the
opposite. Because if they can be "bought" by this campaign then they could also be "bought" by someone else with deeper pockets. No, I think it's a terrible idea.
I for one believe you could find 1000 people
who would vote for RP regarless of the money, the only difference is it would make it a lot easier for people to commit.
My guess is other campaigns are funding their people in some way.
commitment
Ask yourself about what commitment is.
Ron Paul campaign is not others campaigns. Ron Paul campaign is based on freedom. So, if they want to commit, they will do it without being paid for. They must commit consciently and not to be paid for commiting.
Even if this is a harder way, it's the way to freedom. ;-)
