What will happen to Canada after the American collapse?

0 votes

I am in this freedom movement with you guys, just letting you know. This is international movement. Anyway this question revolves around the inevitable collapse of America. How will this effect me and my job in Canada. I don't know how much we are invested into America, but I know we are tied pretty close due to NAFTA. Right now i'm just a young college student and have only convince my parents to buy a measly 1 ounce of gold for me as a present lol (it's a start!). But I will have a good paying career so I'm wondering if I can just not worry about this problem. A follow up would be, since all fiat always collapses, should I also be worried about our dollar collapsing in my generation? Thanks from up north.

One thing is for sure about Canada

There will be really good fishing there.

is your job recession/depression proof?

well... considering the usa buys 50% (?) of our exports ... its gonna hurt when they go down. and they are going down. it is just a matter of when. this summer or this fall...

canada is the best off of all the G20 countries going into this mess.

we're always about six months behind the usa in economic pain or pleasure.

when the usa can't pay the bills anymore... i suspect we will stop exporting to them. i remember the california power black outs because they couldn't pay the bill to bc.

now think ... wheat, lumber, steel, natural gas, oil, fishing, beef, .... all the canadians that have jobs in those industries are going to be feeling the pain as many will lose their jobs.

the upside is... we have all those resources soooo we'll weather this storm.... but its gonna be painful and ugly.

all those resources

right up there ... hmmm

lol.

i would have mentioned the diamond mines but they're pretty useless in a depression... can't eat 'em, burn 'em, build anything... :)

That Rogers guy

with the bow tie keeps saying "farmers will be driving Lamborginnis" and he even mentioned Saskatchewan by name. We will probably have to become more self sufficient as US markets for our products dries up.

Collapse?

If America collapsed Canada would land on top of Mexico, fools.

Who do you think is holding Canada up? We are!

When we fall on Mexico

will it be like a pin hole leak or a balloon burst?

My guess would be just a "sigh"

Good question

bump for further discussion.

It would be a matter of time...

It seems to me that shortly after the US collapsed, it would be a domino effect for Canada. It would just be a matter of time before Canada buckled. Even if the Looney remained sound for a while, you would be subject to immigration problems long before then, I imagine.

I can envision a lot of people here going up north trying to escape the problems much like it is with the US and Mexico. People running the border to find a better life. Sooner or later the problems would spill over into our northern neighbor one way or the other.

This movement is not just about America

but about all peoples of the world we are so alike but have been programed to feel that we different, we are not, we want the same things, so stay tuned in, we are heading into a true REVOLUTION for all of mankind.

just buisness guys sorry

This is a non hostile takeover!

The Canadian and Mexican

The Canadian and Mexican economies have been intermeshed with each other since before World War 2. Up until the 1980's Canada and Mexico were the US's biggest trading partners.

You could say that economically the US and Canada are one country...

In terms of going to Britian

Fortune Favors the Bold

Won't help
In many ways, Britian is far worse then America in terms of fiscal stability, electoral openness, civil liberties, surveillance.
Best country right now is Greece.
But if the NWO is a real agenda, there won't be any haven if people just run. Better to stand and fight.

Fortune Favors the Bold

Oh, I meant...

You're right - there's no point running to Britain.

I believe Britain's already lost - a police state heading towards some kind of soft fascism (as Ron Paul says). If anyone doesn't believe it's a police state (I don't care what the dictionary definition of one is) then I invite you all to go there and see for yourself. It's a little taste of what's to come in America.

My point was that I am one of the lucky ones to have a second passport and somewhere else to go. But, I'm not going to run anymore. As Alex Jones says, it's a Prison Planet we live on now. There's no escape.

As you say, JohnGalt3000, I'm going to stand where I am and fight, if that's what it comes to (but those Greek Islands, man I wish I was on one of those right now).

No doubt about that.

Hell, even Canada is further down the line of socialism. Wayyy further.

We live free and die together.

Whatever happens to the American economy in the future, we here in Canada will definitely feel the effects. How much depends on how bad it gets in the U.S.

There's no point sitting there and worrying about it. We all (both Canadians and Americans) just need to carry on with the Revolution and try to turn things around, and at the same time prepare for anything that happens in the future (there have been lots of posts on that subject on Daily Paul).

Even though I have my British passport and a family house in India, I will NOT cut and run until there is absolutely no hope left here (kind of like how it is in Zimbabwe right now). I WILL stay here and fight for my rights, and I will help my American brothers and sisters to the south, because after all, we are all human beings.

What made me feel pride in the North American people was shortly after I came to Canada from Britain in 2001. On 9/11, lots of U.S. airplanes were redirected to my local airport (Vancouver International). Hundreds of Americans would have had to spend days sleeping in the airport, but the people of my city (Richmond) came forward spontaneously to put these people up and feed them. This is the kind of thing that will see our countries through any hard times to come.

Oh and punjabimunda, hurry up and get married to a nice Punjabi girl - you'll get lots of gold at your wedding ;-)

LOL

I never thought about that but its true. I read somewhere that India and China are very secure for a global crisis because of the gold dowry tradition. But won't the gold belong to my wife? ;)

help with donations

hey , can you Canadians help us out with donating to the campaign?
It's in your best interest , also its in the best interest of the whole world.

Is it legal for individuals in other countries to donate to presidential campaigns here?

We can't make campaign contributions...

....already looked into that it's illegal. But yes we can fund grass root projects (like the blimp we once had). I don't have any money now since I am just a college student, but I'm sure some are doing just that. In fact, i think it was from Alexa.com i discovered after America most hits come from Canada to dailypaul.com! so hopefully theres some support financially as well.

good question

I've wondered about that often, as I know Ron Paul has a lot of support in various countries around the world. I have read of meetups in South America and Europe. I would be interested to hear about the donations aspect, so I await some answers to it! And you're right, it is in the best interest of the world.

All I know

is that it's Neo-lib and Neo-con heaven. I'm not speaking about the citizens, just the government.

I mean, go to prison because you don't agree with the Israeli cause, because that's considered anti-se_ _ _ _ _ _.

That's getting ready to happen here. Well, maybe not if we...

I have met many Canadians and I have to say they've been nice to talk with. It just seems like they were scared of the government there. ??

The economic collapse will

The economic collapse will be global. That's what I've been hearing.

Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Don't worry about it

American is not going to "collapse" in the foreseeable future, regardless of what the doomsayers here may tell you.

(And they'll attack me for not agreeing that America is not on the verge of collapse. It seems like you have to be believe in a disaster scenario in the near future to be accepted into the clique here).

No, I think you just have to open your eyes and

do a lot of reading, i.e.,
www.goldenjackass.com Jim Willie's site (profound articles)
www.goldseek.com (great articles, but several writers everyday (check out Mogambu Guru, he's fun to read, shows you how ridiculous it all is and didn't have to be that way)
www.jsmineset.com (great analyst, financials & geopolicals) google Ty Andros (I think it's www.safehaven.com) read his Thrill Ride Pts. 1-4

The government

always gives good signs and props the economy before a collapse. Just look what happened to the market crash that was about to happen a couple weeks ago. But they fiddled with the interest rate. But as Ron Paul says, the longer they delay it the worse the recession will be. Only the naive are fooled by these gimmicks. We ron paulers know what's happening, whe're smarter :p.

The not so mighty U.S. DOLLAR

Trapp,
Please explain why it should continue to be a "what, me worry?" scenario any longer? The reserve currency of the world is moving towards not being worth a can of beans. We're at a tipping point where devaluation cannot be stopped. To me that spells worldwide economic collapse.

http://images.google.com/images?q=US+dollar+value&hl=en&um=1...

Of course devaulation can be

Of course devaulation can be stopped. All that has to be done is to raise interest rates and cause a recession, like what was done under Reagan.

Even if the dollar "collapsed," which is highly unlikely, it would not be the end of the world. A new currency would be issued and we'd be back on our feet again in a short time. If it were going to collapse, it wouldn't do so until dollars had been converted to Euros. That's what a collapse would consist of ...everyone converting to Euros. You can't have a collapse without people converting to another currency. So business would go on, but under Euros until the new U.S. currency took hold. It's not like it would be the end of the world or armageddon.
