Now, can someone please explain to me how a kinetic warhead causes a fireball in the oxygen free environment of space?

That's an easy one.

First, the collision is at about 22,000 MPH and releases a lot of kinetic energy, quite a bit of which will be heat. And since the impact is supersonic in relation to the speed of sound in the target and warhead, shock physics comes into play, and much of the target and impacter will actually vaporize into hot gas. Hot gas emits light. So, you will see vaporized metal that incandescences, and makes up part of the fireball until it cools off.

Second, hydrazine is a homopropellant that does NOT need oxygen to burn - get it hot and it decomposes on its own. It's similar to gunpowder in that respect.

So, yeah, a KE impact on a tank of hydrazine will make a big fireball without any oxygen in the surrounding environment.
