Wikileaks banned by U.S Court
Submitted by Ivor schwartzporsche on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 14:38
Wikileaks-the site that allows annonymous postings of documents exposing coverups and misdemeanors- has been banned and ordered to shut down a U.S court has ruled.
(BTW remember that Gov' fiscal website is also being closed down next month).
The good news is that people interested in coverups and other controversial topics who reside outside the jurisdiction of the Court can still view these documents at a 'wikileaks' website in Belgium (.be). I am informed by reading todays' Guardian newspaper on-line in the U.K amongst other UK Government news in there about the 'sexed-up Iraqi war material, etc.
Another 'to-do list' for the new president to look into maybe?

Sensitive Guantánamo Bay Manual Leaked Through Wiki Site
By Ryan Singel 11.14.07 | 12:00 AM
A detail from the "Camp Delta Standard Operating Procedures" manual shows a camp layout at the Guantánamo Bay military detention facility.
Image: Wikileaks.org A never-before-seen military manual detailing the day-to-day operations of the U.S. military's Guantánamo Bay detention facility has been leaked to the web, affording a rare inside glimpse into the institution where the United States has imprisoned hundreds of suspected terrorists since 2002.
The 238-page document, "Camp Delta Standard Operating Procedures," is dated March 28, 2003. It is unclassified, but designated "For Official Use Only." It hit the web last Wednesday on Wikileaks.org.
The disclosure highlights the internet's usefulness to whistle-blowers in anonymously propagating documents the government and others would rather conceal. The Pentagon has been resisting -- since October 2003 -- a Freedom of Information Act request from the American Civil Liberties Union seeking the very same document. it would be illegal. Here is hoping for change!

(I believe the data is at sites in other countries, as well.)
There are newsletter subscriptions at ZDnet, which is how I received this.
It's an interesting/different source of government issues.

Thanks for the update. That resolve wasn't mentioned in todays' article in the press. Good. Funny thing though- by banning it - it has allowed untold thosands of people to hear about the website for the first time when the aim was to censor it. That's what you call blowback. I bet wikileaks has never had so many visits in one day before!!!

This is complete and utter
This is complete and utter bullshit! This court has no authority to ban free speech. How long are we going to stand for this garbage! We need to send some kind of message to these rogue judges and courts.

Speak the truth
Well apart from the article in the guardian.co.uk I guess google ''wikileaks

as the Freedom of Information Act. „
