This came to me from a man who is not for Ron Paul. How can that be???

This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not US citizens and who get the PELL grant, which is a federal grant (no pay back required) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn't want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money leftover.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she 'loves HER country.'

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a USCiizn,you don't qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close.Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY.

IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP -- please pass this along. I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else.

Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA !

and my family has been here since the 1600s, but i am willing to bet
"my" culture (punk rock) has very little to do with your culture. Culture is a choice. Let cultures compete. But every individual should be equal under the law.

I would rather have an immigrant going to college then just going into the work force after high school. Think about this for a moment. Not saying she should get federal funding, just that the teacher's letter kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

This is going to happen whether you want it to or not. Wouldn't you rather choose who you put through college? And where does it say the Dominican Republic is going to help her?

Misread the article. I thought the CARIBE program was a Dominican thing.

I think I am much less of a "nationalist" then most people here however.
But I think the gov should get out of funding education, especially since colleges are so inefficient. The college I went to I couldn't afford to complete. They raised the tuition because of a corruption scandal where the board president had allowed a heating system to be installed and basically the company ripped off the school and were kicking back to memebers of the board. When I found about that, I decided I didn't want anything to do with that school anymore.

why should we expect anyone else to? Many immigrants are getting a free ride at our expense and loving every minute of it. Some have no conscience about it because they have no stake in our country. My parents were immigrants when you had to pass strict standards and struggle to get here and stay. They got nothing from the government and made it on their own. They really resent the ease with which immigrants enter our country now and become part of the system. Citizenship used to be a priviledge, now it's meaningless.

I have asked, sent material, converted his children, jumped through hoops, anything I could think of, I have done. The only thing that would work is sending some man he really, really respects to talk to him about Dr. Paul.

He says he supports McCain because Dr. Paul is never, ever going to win and he cannot fathom Hillary as president. The same ol' thing we have heard a million times. You cannot get people off of it. He might not win because they won't vote for him, but still. He at first did not believe the corridor was anything except what they said, improved roads. He may be aware that Dr. Paul is right, but he is unwilling to change his vote because of the Hillary thing and I don't think he even gives Obama a second thought. And yes, I know, a vote for McCain is the same as casting a vote for Hillary. People who vote for McCain are giving it to Hillary.

McCain who clearly favors amnesty and the more benefits for illegal aliens the better? Obama, Hillary, or McCain is going to be a vote for more of this illegal alien shamnesty and AGAINST the US citizens. This "friend" is clearly a moron.
