As it's commonly done in many organizations, performance reviews by its members can sometimes be very helpful.

How would you rate HQ's strategy and management of this campaign so far! A, B, C or D?

Only constructive criticisms, remarks and suggestions can help our cause.

rating the national campaign headquarters

i believe that the national headquarters staff has done an admiral job considering tthat the ron paul presidential campaign really only started to heat up around november or december 2007. the organization has created a strong cadre of support. they have raised a lot of money in a very short time period. ron paul was hardly a household name before he started campaigning.

the only debate issue that i thought his response could have been improved on was that which related to health care insurance. i would have preferred that he should have focused on the cost of delivering health care services rather than the availability of health insurance. i would have preferred it if he would have explained that the medicare law forces other providers to match or be higher priced than medicare's pricing. the law states that medicare has to be the lowest paid provider. this means that no one else can offer a lower price than medicare.

my hope is that ron paul's basic message of peace and prosperity
continues to attract more and more people. regardless of what happens at the republican national nominating convention and the presidential election, the revolution continues to grow.

i met ron paul in 1979 at the libertarian national nominating convetion in los angeles. his philosophy, attitude and principles are the same now as they were then. he is truly a champion of liberty.

i am sure that the national campaign committee has made mistakes. i believe that they have done a great job considering their obstacles.

there is a saying that rome was not built in a day. this campaign has evolved from a marginal effort to its current level of success,

i am sure that there are ways to improve the campaign. hinsight is always twenty-twenty.

i believe that the ron paul supporters should put their efforts on increasing the successes. lets learn from our mistakes and make adjustments. lets replicate the areas of successes.

i believe that more guidance and assistance on the meet-up groups would help improve their functionality. the meet-up groups are succeeding and continue to succeed if they remain focused on the goal of redirecting this country towards its roots. it was born as an idea that it would be a place that put its emphasis of the protection of the individual's rights. many brave men sacrificed their money and their lives in order to crate the greatest country known in man's history.

we have a wonderful opportunity to resurrect those honorable dedicated men's goals and asperations. ron paul is the catalyst for this movement. we need to continue the battle in order to win this revolution.

i give the national ron paul campaign committee an A+. the amount of focused energy and has been harnassed has been truly a miracle. it demonstrates what a few dedicated individual can accomplish.

i think that our efforts should focus on the people who are the primary victims of the government's largesse. the poor people are used as pawns for the bureaucracy. we have real solutions for their problems that the government only offers lip service to. these people have been led to believe that they can not succeed without government aid. this is obviously ridiculous. the government aid is the carrot that the government has used to get their votes. their condition has not improved even though trillions of dollars have been spent on welfare programs.

another group of people that have been receiving welfare are the warmongering industrial complex companies. they are supported by their employees who receive large sums of money to create a constantly enlarged bureaucracy, this has to be stopped. i believe that the only justifiable expenditures of the federal government should be spent on defense. there has to be limits.

it may take several years to achieve our revolution. george washington lost most of his battles, but the colonists won the war. folks, there is some truth in mccain's message of a hundred years war. i believe that we have to strategize to win this revoulution even if it takes 100 years. we have to educate people about the value of peace. peace and freedom gives people opportunites to succeed. growth and prosperity are infinite. they can only be achieved with an environment of freedom and peace.

i believe that every step that we make in the direction of our goals is fantastic. staying upbaet and positive is paramount. it may be a long struggle, but is well worth it,

stay organized, focused and upbeat and we shall win this revolution.

The other candidates

I'm on the email lists of all of the other candidates (except Hillary), and they send out more emails than this candidate. They communicate more and it seems to have a positive effect with their people <hint hint>.

That's two questions...

I'll take the strategy part.

But first, let me say that there is simply no question that Ron Paul is the only candidate this year worthy of the term leader. But what is a leader? It's one with a vision they can communicate effectively, who also has good character, who is competent and who has experience. Ron Paul fits this description exceptionally well on each point...

All the other despicable, opportunist, power-mad, wanna-be's aren't even in the game as measured by those criteria.

But Ron Paul is not perfect; he cannot be all things to all people, and his main job is to get the Message out. I'm pretty sure none of us would want to have his daily schedule of meetings, appointments, speeches, etc. etc. etc.

So, having studied and practiced strategy formation for nearly forty years, I can say that I'm still trying to figure out what the RP campaign strategy is... And for all his other outstanding qualities which we all respect and can try to live up to, I'm not sure that strategy development is his best skill. And whether anybody at HQ is working now to come up with one is also not clear to me, and apparently to some others here.

What is meant by strategy? It's not just doing things the same old way, nor is it just emulating what you see others doing. A winning strategy comes from a rigorous, detailed analysis of all the issues that affect the chances of success, both positive and negative, then formulating a written plan that makes the best use of your strengths, and minimizes or neutralizes your weaknesses, then communicating that plan to people and empowering them to get it done...PLUS...always being prepared to adjust your plans as circumstances change, because they always do.

The first step is to understand the competition, which in this case, might better be described as the enemy, and with that to realize that this is not a campaign between or among political candidates in the usual sense; it's a contest between Freedom and Tyranny that must not be lost.

The (1) enthusiasm of RP supporters, (2) their willingness to be involved and take the initiative to get things done, (3) their willingness to communicate all the time and (4) their proven willingness to "give until it hurts" are four highly important parts of a Strategic Plan that as far as I can tell has yet to be defined more fully in view of all the relevant issues, let alone having been communicated to us.

I truly do not wish to step on any toes here, but if you want to talk strategy, consider this: RP has not stated a clear benefit for the march on Washington, but has stated clearly that there are real risks involved. To this I would add: If the 200,000 that have been called for all show up for the march, and for the round trip, all expenses paid, they come out of pocket an average of $500, that's $100 miilion dollars. Plus it's millions of hours of planning and travel time, not to mention an unknown amount of lost wages some will incur to come. Think about all that awhile.

Now, whatever you perceive to be at stake here, I can say that the march, as it has been presented up until now, is not smart strategic planning. What it is is a huge cash and time expense that has not been very well justified based on the idea that we're going to march to "show them that we are serious..." Don't you understand "they" don't care? You don't even know who "they" are! But they're powerful enough to cause the media companies to blackout Ron Paul, among other things.

We can win, if and only if, to the four powerful commitments Ron Paul supporters have made and invested so far, we formulate a Strategic Plan that effectively answers all the issues that lie between here and September, and from there to November. Such a Plan will pull together and give a powerful focus to the now fragmented activities of so many passionate people.

If this is not done very soon, what we're already doing now will become, by default, the 2008 strategy for the Ron Paul Movement.

On the other hand, if there is already a strategy in place worthy of the name, let's hear it. As it is, I would have to say "D" on strategy.

Go Ron Paul

200,000 - fat chance

Only a bit over 100,000 meetup members and many of them are just observers. I would be impressed if we got 50,000, no 20,000.

And as you say we would not get bang for the buck.

Grade D - everything they do is way late. and under-planned. RP gives almost the same speech everywhere he goes. It they did report it on MSM it would be pretty dull material. Hillary and Obama get endless media time with their petty and pointless disagreements on the fine points of socialized heath care and chicken in every pot talk.

And the latest video to the RP supporters? Looked like 2 people who had prepared for about 10 min. Compare that to Obama's razzle-dazzle. I almost fell asleep listening to Lew and Debbie. Obama and Hillary are selling ice to Eskimos and making sales ("change", "it's for the kids".)

Thanks for the Reply

But just remember the focus of my comments was on RP supporters, not so much on HQ or Ron Paul himself.

Why? Because RP supporters have been the ones to make the Message come alive by practicing the four points I noted earlier. But that was last year. Now is the real test, and it's getting clearer every day that the fragmented, spontaneous actions of RP Supporters that did work wonderfully well before are not getting the job done now.

There should have been a Plan from the start (I know, hindsight is 20/20). But the critical need now is to define and implement a Strategic Plan that gives powerful focus and direction to the campaign, and such a Plan cannot be based only on traditional thinking about what a political campaign is... The Plan must fully and clearly define ways we can magnify and intensify RP campaign resources that we have on-tap right now; it must also recognize and define effective tactics for the problems, dangers and pitfalls that lie ahead.

Some RP Supporters, based on what I read here and elsewhere, seem to be hesitating just a bit now. I don't think it's cowardice, weakness or lack of commitment; I think this is a wait-and-see moment for them based on the need to better understand what the grand plan is, if any.

RP supporters can't wait for HQ, or even Dr. Paul himself (he's very busy!) They must take up the cause and begin a new and more insightful dialogue. They must think more strategically, think "outside the box," come up with more powerful ideas. And the result of all that must be integrated into something we all can buy into because it makes powerful good sense, and everyone can see how it would work. Then it can be submitted to the appropriate people for review.

I keep asking: Is there a Plan now that deals with all the real-life potentials and hazards that face us this year? I have not called HQ because I keep reading such inquiries get the standard reply, "somebody will get back to you."

The question, seems to me, is whether RP supporters are ready to take things to the next level?

"Judge Not" is a fine

"Judge Not" is a fine biblical precept, but it's really no way to run an effective campaign. Criticism, even pointed, caustic criticism is necessary to right wrongs. War and politics are close cousins.

So instead we hush up

So instead we hush up freedom of expression. Don't you belong on the McInsane campaign. People should be allowed to give their opinions on anything. This is a republic, you know.

An A+....and we don't need

An A+....and we don't need performance reviews. We don't have time for them. What we need is performance. BY YOU!! NOW!!!

We also don't need to show a bunch of negitivity or criticism which these type of topics actually provide for. The topic itself begs for "criticisms, remarks and suggestions." To ask or expect people not to make them when you've already ask them to rate the campaign is probably not a rational expectation.

And when the campaign

And when the campaign basically halts to run for Congress, it gives the MSM fuel to exclude him for potential debates. I would if I were them too. He basically conceeded and is running a non-active campaign. This is the truth. It is just kind of frustrating. I can see the good doctor fighting for his Congressional seat but not at the total expense of the presidential race. And then when I get an e-mail to donate to his congressional campaign, it rubs me the wrong way. Sorry for the rant but we had some good grassroots here in Ohio and we're very frustrated.

Get a D. The ads were quite

Get a D. The ads were quite frankly terrible. We had the funds to launch a much more aggressive campaign but didn't. That's why the fundraising has slowed because people are frustrated. It's also frustrating to people here in Ohio and some of the other states that the campaign isn't coming here. I know some people who will vote for the good doctor, but aren't really out there campaigning, because they say why? And quite frankly I can't fault them. If the good doctor can't make one stop in a major state, it frustrates the grass roots.

Amen.

We had the same "Campaign is AWOL" problem here in Wisconsin.

McCain and Huckabee traveled around the state doing several events, some rallies, some GOP events, some retail campaigning (ALL resulting is "creating material" for the local media to report on and ACTIVE campaign).

Ron Paul never set foot in our state.

McCain and Huckabee advertised pretty "heavily" according to many people. How much did it cost them? Reports from local media are that the each spent around $150,000 on TV and Radio advertising in the week's runup to our Feb 19th primary.

How much did the Ron Paul campaign spend on advertising in Wisconsin? ZERO. Nothing, Nada, Zip, Zilch.

In phone and in person canvassing in the days leading up to the primary -- even people I had down previously as supportive (including a few who had yard signs out and bumper stickers) -- said "he's obviously quit and doesn't care anymore" -- and no arguments otherwise really held any water -- so most of them voted for someone else.

That's why I say the campaign is NO LONGER even trying (if it ever really was).

If you are unwilling to make ANY visits to a state, AND you are not willing to spend even a minimum amount of the campaign cash on advertising (which is what the money WAS raised for) -- then you are disrespecting the voters (and supporters) in that state.

And it becomes a valid question of what the heck the campaign *IS* doing with that money -- IMHO if it is NOT spent on what it was raised for... then we are heading into fraud and malfeasance territory.

I agree

My best friend lives up in Sturgeon Bay, and she called me the night before the primary asking me who to vote for since RP dropped out. I told her that he hadn't dropped out and she (rightly) asked me why she had not seen one TV ad, heard one radio spot, not even a blip in the paper, if he was still in the race.

It's nearly impossible to convince people of the viability of your candidate when there's NO EVIDENCE of him whatsoever. It's hard to convince people that he is still getting contributions when there's nothing to show for it (TV ads, etc.) A blackout can only account for so much--the media is still a $$ hungry entity, and they would have run his ads.

I give the grassroots an A+++++.

I give HQ a D.

D-....HQ has worked against

D-....HQ has worked against us from the begining.

Thomas Jefferson:
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until t

Ummm that would rate an outright F.

If your own campaign STAFF is working against you?

That's an outright betrayal of trust, and is even worse than incompetence.

They get a D -

I'm sorry and they should be sorry too. We needed to win at least one state. The ads were pathetic. The money wasn't spent when it was needed. And now we can't even get into a public debate.

By concentrating on the seat in Congress in Texas they are showing that they are pretty much giving up on hopes of Presidency.

Ron Paul had a bulletproof message but got too political in how it was spread. He was the candidate of Real Change, and that message was not properly conveyed at ALL. I joined the precinct leader program and ordered 100 dollars woth of materials to distribute, 2 weeks before the primary in California, but the stuff didn't arrive til more than a week after the primary...

I understand that he's a nice guy, but his ads should have been more hard hitting.

If i saw ads that were telling the cold hard truth about the mess we are in and why, i would have put more money in to get that message out.

The ron paul website should have been full of videos exposing the corruption of the government and other candidates running. I would almost say the Ron Paul campaign was designed to fail. I guess one good thing about that is that i'm not so worried about an assassin from the federal reserve taking out our leader...

the ron paul website could have hosted videos like freedom to fascism and others..

They get a solid B

What we need is inspiration and a plan. We can still win. Most of you know this. I want to see more from HQ to help us make the right steps and to help us stay in the fight when we are tired.

Get the March Plan Solidified. Make it a winning event. Rock the World.

Help us understand how we are going to win.

Never say die.

"Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less. -- Ron Paul, December 17, 2007"

Ron Paul is my President.

They get an A+.

Dr. Paul is NOT stupid. This is NOT his first campaign/election. And, he has won many elections before we were here posting stupid crap like this. Imagine that...he did it all without us here critizing his every move!!

Yeah but

Dr. Paul has trusted to campaign to HQ. It's doubtful that's he's calling many, if any of the shots. NO ONE is saying that HE is stupid....but HQ sure is.

I have heard repeatedly about the lack of response to emails and phone calls from we the grassroots to HQ-- are they too busy? Too busy doing what, exactly?

Whose BRILLIANT idea was it to post the deflating letter from Ron on the FRONT PAGE of HQ site? We all got that via email....there was NO NEED to stick that on the front page where everyone could see it and run with it.

There are many more examples of this kind of crap...but I get a headache just thinking about them....

:D

Non-Issue...

The Revolution MUST push onward!!!

Listen to your heart beat... Ron Paul! Ron Paul! Ron Paul!

Right now we are trying

to win an election here. This certainly is an issue and rest assured there are HQ ppl reading this. We can also help by feeding our creativity into these forums, and by donating and canvassing (canvassing by phone counts).

Question: Why do you think HQ ppl are reading this?

HQ people can Read?

Wow. That would be news.

Yes

I'm with ya.

like the time he said "of course Iran will sell us their oil. What are they going to do with it, drink it?' That was a classic, it was hilarious and Ron should not be afraid to inject genuine hilarity into his campaign, as it will get him more attention.

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,

If we had to grade the campaign

in the current political climate, then the grade would be directly proportionate to the amount of money the campaign raises.

Want the grade to go up? I think you know what to do.

Time for a change, please, thank you.

They receive an "A"

How incompetent is Ron Paul’s campaign staff???....Ah….let’s see
Obviously more competent than Rudy’s, Fred’s, Mitt’s and the other 5 Republican losers. Oh wait, what about the campaign staffs of the other nearly bankrupt Republican front runners, seconds away from imploding. Oh and what about the incredibly competent campaign staffs on the Democrat side...let’s see how many did they start out with? You naysayers are a curious lot, not far removed from the “Thumbs Up-Thumbs Down”, live for the moment, Romans in the Coliseum. Paul’s campaign grows daily. There are still nine months left to the Convention. Nine months to get the word out. This is a longitudinal struggle that increasingly gains support and strength. Ron Paul has the “Machine” on the run. The toothpaste is out of the tube….there is no stopping this train and they know it.

He KNOWS what he is doing

Why question, why rate the efforts.... those who see the need to rate the efforts of campaign headquarters are like those who rate the football game... with the best players standing on the side line. Not very productive.

Trust the man, he has been in this game much longer and at a far deeper and greater level than many of us.
What he has 'to sell' is the truth.. and for all you disbelievers, the truth will always prevail.

Look at all the achievements thus far, not bad at all for the so called long shot, much to the chagrin of everyone with the neo label in front of it (politicians, media, bankers..you name it).

Stop trying to be a side line expert but go out there and do the work, make the adverts for your local papers, organize local rallies, whatever has to be done to help him to further the awareness of what is to come.
