I was playing checkers with my daughter...
I was playing checkers with my 4 year old daughter for the first time. As many of you know, you don't just dominate and take advantage of a novice, someone who has no reason to have really known how to play. I gave her plenty of opportunities to jump and have her pieces "kinged". In the end, I had 3 kings and she had 1. She enjoyed it and learned some of the rules along the way. Even a simple game like checkers involved strategy. It involves anticipating future moves, both yours and your opponent's.
In this campaign, the candidates are not playing something as simple as checkers, they are playing chess. And they are not novices or at least they shouldn't be in their positions. This game started out with 11 sides, but now with just 3, the victor will simply be the one who has planned out all his possible moves to a checkmate. Our beloved Ron Paul is a chessmaster and in spite of all the blocks that his opponents and the race in general have thrown at him, he knows what he is doing and has calculated every possible checkmate scenario.
Now, I personally am not a great chess player, barely amateur at best. So when I watch others play, I may be genuinely surprised at the kind of plays they may setup. Right now, many of us and most of the rest of the voting population are but amateurs as we watch this chess match slowly unfold. We think we know what is going on. We may think we know who looks like they are winning. But in the end it simply comes down to who has thought it through and who knows how to adjust their strategy no matter what their opponent does.
So, I've said this before, but it bears repeating: Ron Paul is in this to win it. If you believe he is the man to run this entire country and save us from most certain doom, trust him to have a very well-planned strategy to win this entire thing!
It isn't a secret anymore that pawns become queens.
He has the money, he has the strategy, he still has the most devoted core group of supporters of ANY of the candidates, GOP or DEM. And he alone has the consistent principled integrity our nation so deserves. He alone has a researched, detailed plan to excise the root cancers that are killing our country. He alone is truly being honest with the American people and even more importantly, being honest with himself.
So, in the next few weeks, pull out your chess board, or even play some online chess. You may gain a fresh perspective on what true long-term strategy really is. You may realize that sometimes you have to appear weak and vulnerable to instill a false confidence. All I know is that it isn't as easy as it looks...

Rome wasn't built in a day
Fortune Favors the Bold
This campaign has far exceeded anyone's expectations. To think we were just going to end the global economic hegemony, end the two party corruption, restore the republic and bring peace on earth in a few months was childish. This isn't the end, it's the beginning. And getting our people into the ground level party infra-structure is very important.
Check out G. Edward Griffin's freedom force video. It will show you why we are on the right path.
BTW, if we went libertarian now, we would reverse all the gains we had acquired. All that would accomplish is maybe getting the libertarian party federal matching funds anyway, which I'm sure Paul wouldn't want. Plus I don't much care for alot of the fair-weather libertarian supporters like the Reason crowd. They strike me as Williamsburg hipster types. (Not all of them, just some of them.) And Wayne Allen Root is a joke.
Fortune Favors the Bold
You are right, it wasn't built in a day...
But, we aren't at the stage where we are building a new country. We are hundreds of thousands of citizens who have become increasingly concerned with where our country is headed.
Most of us did not know about Ron Paul and the message he has been sharing for 30 years. This movement has not been around for just a few months. This campaign was just the catalyst to unite and strengthen the message.
I will look into the video you mention. And I don't advocate going Lib either.
Fortune does favor the bold...
Hey, players. Reality check time.
McCain says, "checkmate."
Yes, I'm sorry to bring the bad news to you. We don't need to be an ostrich with its head in the sand.
We Ron Paul supporters need to start our strategy for the next chess match, whether for the White House, federal, state, or local elections.

I do play chess
and although I'm only average, I appreciate your analysis. My rating is 1776 (you can catch me on GameColony, my handle is PatriotGames). It is true that in the game of chess, and other pursuits as well, some of the best gambits and strategies involve actions you would never think of as credible or logical. I do trust Pauls judgement. This is still VERY early in the election cycle. While the odds do seem long at the moment I personally see no reason to stop campaigning for him. I wont quit until he does, it's that simple.
Sandelie, Nice to hear this
Sandelie,
Nice to hear this from a real player... And yes, it is much earlier than people realize... there's a lot that can and will happen between now and St. Paul...
Neat analogy, but
the oft-stated "now there are 3" line is silly.
Anyone can run for president and not drop out. That doesn't mean you're still in the race.
Ron Paul is not in the race.
well, you have every right to think that...
But the "now there are three" line is on the home page of RonPaul2008.com
So, "silly" or not, it is an official statement. Of course anyone can run, just that Ron Paul isn't anyone. If you were a true supporter and knew all the amazing acheivements he and his campaign have done you wouldn't say such a flip statement.
I suspect that you are either a very disillusioned supporter or a troll. I hope you are a supporter who just needs something to restore your hope... If so, just hold on a little longer. Things will turn around in an interesting way pretty soon.
If you are a troll, come on, do you not have anything else to do? Something constructive perhaps? Maybe put some effort into the candidate you support?
"IF YOU GIVE SOMEONE ENOUGH ROPE, THEY WILL HANG THEMSELVES!"
And that's exactly what's going to happen! Once the Vietnam Vets and the rest of McInsane's skeletons come out of the closet, Keating 5, etc., he will be FINISHED, if this latest hasn't done him in yet. Clinton and Obama are throwing mud already at each other, they're like a couple of dogs fighting over a bone!
How much money so far have all the candidates spent to get into a job that pays $400,000/year? Hillary has big Pharma behind her and she still had to lend her campaign 5 million!
There isn't a whole lot that ANY of the candidates can say negative about RP and they will all look like fools for trying!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!
I mentioned this in a response below, but I want to call attention to it again.
Don't discount Ron winning just yet... this is far from over.
- The votes that count haven't been cast.
- Those who cast the vote that count haven't all been selected yet.
- Those who cast the votes to select the people who will ultimately cast the votes that count haven't all been selected yet...
This is FAR from over...
We must trust that Ron Paul knows what he is doing in this campaign if we are to trust him as our President, for as President he will face much stronger opposition and even greater hurdles.
Wonderful thank you
I love and trust Ron Paul. He is a wise man and knows exactly what he's doing. This is far, far from over and those who had no faith to begin with will fall by the wayside, grumbling and reciting all the reasons why he will fail.
I refuse to believe the "no chance/game over" words of the the enemy they've been saying all along and instead put all my faith in the goodness and brilliant mind of Ron Paul. I believe a great man like him is destined to be a winner.
Wonderful post!
I have felt this way myself for a very long time. Thank you for posting!

The irony is-
the banksters are manipulating the rules; voter fraud, media blackouts, exclusion from debates. However Ron keeps on smiling, moving a knight here (discussing blowback), taking a queen there (Julie Annie dropping out in disgrace), and patiently staying within the rules while all about him is turbulence and contention. During the last election the banksters could rest easy. Both 'opponents' were members of Skull and Bones and the CFR. It didn't matter to the money manipulators who won; both candidates were compromised from the get go.
Ron Paul, a man of honor, doesn't partake or subscribe to seditious organizations and criminal syndicates. He is viewed as a crank because he can't be bought. I can't wait to see the look on their faces in November when he says "checkmate".
A Real Statesman in the White House. . .
I really like your writings here. well said. Ron Paul is a STATESMAN. It would be nice to have some genuine "class" in the White House. To have someone who could talk to other countries in our behalf that tells the truth and can back it up with logic and forthought. What I really like about him is how unflapable he is. He CAN think, so it's hard for a McCain to debate him. Wow, a Statesman in the White House. Let's envision that.

Thanks! And yes, you are correct...
Ron Paul is the ONLY statesman running for the Presidency during this election.
And just think about it, for most or all of his debates/speeches, HE writes them or just talks off-the-cuff! He knows his stuff and doesn't have to give a cop-out line about needing to consult with his expert advisers. No, he knows what he is talking about, and unlike any other candidate Ron can easily produce footage from 30+ years ago showing that he said the same thing back then.
I've said it before as well, Ron Paul is NOT a politician, he is a Statesman. A politician thinks they deserve to be in office. A Statesman is what the people actually deserve.

You're welcome!
Ron Paul is hope...
Wonerful thread
Thank you for this perspective. I think Dr. Paul has already won because he and this grassroots supporters have awaken me and thousands like myself.
I bought into the government propaganda all these years not anymore it is very liberating to know what is happening rather than just have a gut feeling that something is wrong. Although I do get depressed sometimes I have to hold on to the belief that truth will win out someday, I pray it will be in my lifetime.

hey honey
i am so impressed you get what is happening at your age...i always am when the younger people get it...i have five kids myself, three of them get it,another is starting to open his eyes a little. the world is not a kind place to children and hasnt been for a long while, the government has systematically broken down the family unit as they figured out a long time ago it was their greatest obstacle to a total take over. kids today face every imaginable horror on a daily basis,,,,war, sexual predators, drugs, poisonous food and water and an every weakening family unit plagued by financial problems and divorce of parents,,its a miracle to me young people can survive any of it, keep waking up your friends honey, im proud of you and stay safe

Chess
is a two-person game. If it were just Dr. Paul against McCain I would imagine that the good doctor would win. However, this isn't a two-person game and it seems quite apparent that most of America has not heard the message. Yes, people are joining everyday and that's all to the good for the movement but I don't believe it will help Dr. Paul for the nomination. At this point McCain would have to pretty much be disqualified or physically be unable to continue for Dr. Paul to stand a chance of winning. I leave the possibility of a statistical miracle open but I'm certainly not holding my breath waiting for it. Even Dr. Paul himself has said that the chances of a brokered convention are pretty non-existent.
Its ok to hope for a miracle but strident denial of reasonable doubt is too much like religious fanaticism for my tastes.
Chess is a 2 person game
but this this who thing has been a 2 sided game with Dr. Paul and all of us on one side and the establishment on the other. We won already is all you need to know.
It has never
been a 2-sided game. That's part of the problem. There are more than 2 sides trying to win the RNC and Dr. Paul's side is really small. Of the republicans who have heard of him most don't seem to either understand or agree with his views. This is what the polls and voting has shown. Its not made up, the MSM didn't provide me with the numbers, its simply the truth.
That being said, I understand that much of the RNC will be about delegates and that Dr. Paul may have a few more than the popular voting depicts. However, having a few more than a very minor number to begin with isn't going to give him a very strong starting position from which to woo other delegates. It could happen but I wouldn't place a lot of hope on it.
I really don't think that this effort is about getting him elected President (and I don't think he thinks that either). I believe its the start of something that may not only get a President elected eventually but will start to inject political sanity back into our government. My worry is that many of our current members with the "just trust us it will happen" attitude are gonna be crushed if it doesn't happen and possibly fall to the wayside of the movement at exactly the time when they are needed most.
history is full of similar scenarios...
It doesn't really matter how many sides there are, it doesn't even matter how big or strong a side may be. What ultimately matters in this race is who has the strategy to both reach the finish line and win!
I have said before that in this race, we don't have to just vote for the cleanest dirty shirt... in times past this has almost always been the case. What we have here is a candidate who doesn't have skeletons in his closet, who truly has a plan to implement once elected, and who has the consistent principled integrity to pull it all together.
I too am aware of the sadness that would engulf many of us should Ron not make it. I too have felt some of that in recent times. But each time, I try to look at things again, surveying the entire board and I see that despite all the apparent negativity, there were once 11 men vying for this position, but now there are but three. And of those three one is finally being exposed for the man he really is.
So yes, the message is about much more than Ron Paul becoming our next president, it is about a true revolution that will change and restore the future of our great nation!
But don't discount Ron winning just yet... this is far from over. The votes that count haven't been cast. Those who cast those votes haven't all been selected yet. Those who cast the votes to select the people who will ultimately cast the votes that count haven't all been selected yet... This is FAR from over...
I think that what many people
Are missing is that this isn't revolving around the men and women running for the presidency. Its revolving around the machines behind them , the blind obedience of party voters and the power brokers' ability to dictate national media.
For example, consider that McCain The one recent provable fact about him is his membership in the Keating Five, a huge political scandal and economic crisis in late eighties and early nineties. That fact alone should have disqualified him in the mind of any reasonable voter, yet here he is at the front of the pack. Dr. Paul isn't running against the man. Instead, he's confronting the McCain machine, a subset of the GOP machine.
Does anybody believe that the GOP doesn't have the best people they can find in place to "make it happen?" Does anybody here believe that the GOP doesn't have their eye on the ball? That we'll "slide by 'em" onto home plate by stealing "secretly supportive" delegates?
It simply can not be that easy.
Dr. Paul is going to have to convince 1100 or so people that he's the real man that they want. These people aren't all going to be secret RP supporters. Many are going to be people who are strict party members. Others will simply have their own agenda, the proverbial ax to grind. Many will be just like us, energized supporters of one candidate or another. And of course, you're gonna have the power players canvasing the whole event, pushing and tweaking.
The thing most younger people don't consider about war is that the enemy shoots back. He wants to live just as much as you do. This applies to politics as well, except that killing your opponent is frowned upon.
I do agree that its far from over and that nothing is set in stone. I suppose that my problem is that I've never been a cheerleader or a salesman. For me the glass isn't half-empty or half-full. For me the glass has something in it. We have a movement. We have a beginning. Let's hope we don't have an ending.
